PureSun Compact Kit is the latest evolution in effective compact fluorescent lighting technology by Arcadia Bird. Compact lamps of the correct design can produce a large amount of essential light, they are easy to use and flicker free, needing no external ballast nor control. However, they have always had large limitations in pet care, the greatest being a lack of suitable reflectors. The lack of an effective reflector has made compact lighting for birds and other animals almost unusable and in some cases, quite dangerous as it equated to large scale incorrect use in aviculture and herpetoculture, using bare lamps protruding into the living space and a reduction in downward flow of energy. PureSun Compact Kit has been created through complex and detailed computerised modelling in order to both capture and to allow as much light to travel downwards from the fitting as possible. In doing so we have been able to fix a historic issue and to bring an easy to use and affordable reflector kit to our hobby.

Bought for my
Cockatiel. He’s becoming more active and talkative when the light is on for him

This lamp twitches off and on at random times after being used . Also it gets very hot. I have parrotlets and some has different times coming out of cage . I get worried the bird might burn himself while the lamp is still on . So give it time to cool down before you decide to take bird out if needs to be . Otherwise my bird is happy, but will look for a different lamp

Whenever this light was on, my bird moved and stayed towards the bottom of his cage. Something about it he really didn’t like. And yes, I had it mounted sufficient distance from his highest perch, per the directions. I returned for this reason alone.

Bought this a few weeks ago. My canary loves the light and sits under it all the time. It was very easy to mount onto the top of my cage. The only thing I would suggest is to put a timer on it. That would make this light perfect. Sometimes I forget to turn it off before it gets dark out, and then I have to first turn on the light in the room, turn this one off, wait for my bird to find his roost and then shut if off. A timer would be awesome!

This is day one. I don’t regret buying this lamp for my two tiels. I noticed an immediate activation in their demeanor when I turned it on. Where they are is a dark corner anyway, so they enjoyed that extra light. However, the reason I bought it in hopes it will act as a heat lamp too. I am disappointed that it didn’t even warm up their area. I’ve resorted to buying a mini heater for them instead. Good for the lighting, but don’t expect the heat!

My 6 year old budgie was really starting to slow down and we thought she was going to cross the rainbow bridge soon. We gave her this lamp and now she’s fully of energy again and way more playful than before. This bird lamp works well!

My birds get the right amount of light in their aviary. Wonderful product but it and another light were sitting above one another and the label read $19.99. I thought the light was this price not 64$. But bought it for the health of my birds.

This probably would be a good product if it worked. Waited several days to get it. Easy to assemble. Screw in the bulb, plug it in and flip the switch. Nothing happened. Tried several different outlets. Had my son try putting it together (I mean there’s not much to mess up!). Nothing. Now I need to make a trip to the store to return it. Not happy.

This light is cheaply made. Cord is not chew proof, lamp gets super hot. Light not very bright. Rounded too makes it impossible to put the tray on the top level of the parrot perch which leaves the exposed lamp very close to perching birds which would burn them if they landed on it and electrocute them if they chewed the wire. I returned it and bought two from M&M cage for hookbills

It’s a good lamp. My birds love it. Wish the switch to turn it on was higher up along the wire and not so close to the plug.

I bought 2 of these last week for my 2 new birds. Each bird has a different style cage. One is a flat top and one is a dome. I was able to install on both cages with little effort. The malp gives out the perfect amount of light for the birds and they are happy with them. The only drawback is the cord is really within biting range. They would be 100 % better with a cord that is bite proof. I added bite proof cover myself to both. I’m using these on a timer. Works great.
