My Labrador Retriever suffered from chronic diarrhea and bloody stools for the first 5 years of her life. The only answer my vet had was to prescribe Science Diet ID, which only seemed to make her condition worse. We asked the vet many times if it could be her food, clearly she had a sensitive stomach, but the only answer they had was blood and stool tests and more Science Diet. Then one morning she refused to eat, went outside to go and the only thing that came out of her was blood. A groomer at petsupplycanada noticed her condition and shared how her Golden had many of the same issues. She told us what they did and how it helped.
So it was worth the try – since the cost of allergy testing was not in our budget!
By removing things from her diet – chicken, salmon and any wheat, rice or corn – she is now as good as when she was taking Claritan and low dose steroids, by eating this variety of Blue Buffalo.
While she may never be anything other than an itchy dog who is worse in summer – she is off meds and no worse off in the skin department.
Her coat is FINALLY growing in like it should – and her stomach issues are all but non existent now!

I went on a trip a couple of years ago and when we got to the motel I realized I hadn’t brought his dog food with me. So I went down to the local petsupplycanada and talked with the friendly staff and they recommended me this brand based on what they personally use. I was feeding him chicken soup for the dog lovers soul at the time. We fed him blue basics all weekend and had no problems when normally switching to that food. I then continued Blue Basics and he stopped his yellow saliva puking deals he’s have every once in awhile, his bowel movements are about once a day. The price of the food might be high, but my little shorkie about 15 pounds eats around a cup a day so a 20 pound bag lasts quite awhile. He also hasn’t gotten sick or had any accidents inside the house since the switch, and that in it’s own is worth the cost of better food.

It is hard to make a judgement about what my Ausies think of the food. They are not fussy and I do put a spoonfull of cottage cheese at each meal on top of food to keep the stool from being too soft. So far, so good. We have tried a number of prescription dry foods and three other commercial foods for our 9 yr old vizsla who has been battling IBD since last September. The only thing he has been able to eat has been boiled white potatoes and turkey breast. Tried Royal Canine LF GI diet, and had a relapse twice after about 3 weeks of it. Tried Wellness Core GF Reduced Fat, and started to see signs of discomfort into the second week. Tried Science Diets ID and ZD diets, didn’t work. So far we are doing good on BB and are not showing any signs of discomfort.

It’s the only dog food my dog can tolerate with her colitis. She seems to digest it much better than other brands.

I have a one year old white boxer. He has SEVERE food allergies. This food is great! We tried the regular Blue Basics, it was good, but once we switched to the Grain Free Basics, it was game over. He loves it and he doesn’t itch anymore, his diarrhea is gone. Not only is his hair growing back, BUT his coat is so soft. The ONLY thing that I wish was different, is that they have a Large Breed Basics GRAIN FREE. That would be great. Until that happens, he will be eating this food, and it works! I love it. Never going back.

I have a 6 year old terrier mix that was suffering from skin allergies. He would scratch alot and almost chewed his tail raw. After a recommendation from a salesperson at petsupplycanada, I started him on Blue Basics Grain Free turkey and potato and he has improved greatly. He’s no longer constantly scratching and the fur on his tail has grown back. Originally, I purchased this product in the smaller bag but it was Turkey & Potato instead of Duck & Potato; I couldn’t locate the 11 lb bag in the Duck flavor so I wrote to CS explaining that I am dog sitting a small dog (less than 10 pounds) and I did NOT need or want the 22 pound bag. I have a 16 month old female boxer, after eliminating the factor she did not have environmental allergies the next assumption was food allergies. She was consistently getting ear infections, a severely scrapped up red chest, and gnawing on her paws. After switching to BLUE Buffalo Grain-Free and changing her treats she is a whole new pup. The dog food has firmed her stools and she goes to the bathroom regularly. I also pair this food with the canned BLUE Buffalo Grain-Free for dinner, which she loves! My Doggie (mixed papillon-chihuahua) 17 years old suffered from chronic diarrhea and bloody stools, could not control his bowel movement…. We tried everything, de wormed him,gave him pumpkin puree, rice…. I was really desperate, (with the corona virus) no vets are open,money problems… I googled my issue and found the review of the owner of a 5 years Labrador Retriever, that was my last try…I bought the food.
