Our youngest dog was 10 lbs overweight and vet recommended Hills as one of the options, but we instead went with a diet version of the dog brand our dogs have been on since they were puppies. They both gradually started to have more and more gastrointestinal issues and our older pup was throwing up and had blood in its stool. Vet tested for everything and recommended a change to the food and we bought this from Hills, gradually moving them from chicken and rice to the new food. It’s amazing. They eat it without toppers and their symptoms are all gone. Our vet recommended this dog food for weight loss, we have a big lab and he was about 40lbs overweight. Right away I could tell he loved the taste. Visably, I could see that his bowel movements were more formed and a darker color in general. We’ve used it for nearly a year now and I don’t know his current weight because his yearly will be soon, but I can tell he has lost probably at least 10lbs, we’ve never done table scraps, he’s just a tall and sturdy boy to begin with so he’s never looked unhealthy. I think this will be a good product to continue to use and continue his weight loss at a healthy rate. It’s more costly, but worth it to us if it keeps my big boy healthy and well.
