I brought this bedding for my pet rats. Normally I put down a paper pellet bedding first and then add a little paper bedding on top of the pellet bedding. This time I just put the Kaytee paper bedding down alone because I was waiting for the paper pellet bedding to arrive in the mail. I worry a lot about my rats sensitive respiratory systems so I am very careful about what goes in their cage.
This bedding to my dismay, used alone, was extremely dusty. The day after putting it in their cage there was a layer of white dust everywhere! Needless to say I removed it from their cage immediately. I returned it for a refund. I was surprised because I have not had this problem before with the Kaytee paper bedding. I don’t know if I just got a bad batch, it was very disappointing. Not sure if I will give it another chance, definitely not for using it as their main bedding.

I thought this product was excellent for bedding and litter. Was perfect for the wet end of the business, but my pet rabbit Huni decided the white stuff was hers to slide around on. She had the “new” puffs of white fluff flying around her pen and on the floor for a great part of the day… and that was even after I put some compressed paper pellets on top of this to try and weigh it down.
So yes would recommend the product, for its workability and for its entertainment value!

As I was putting this into the cages, I noticed that there was VERY little dust, which is important. I also noticed that it was incredibly soft, like Charmin toilet paper! It was very compressed, so it took a bit to fluff it all up nicely, but so far I believe this is going to be a winner.

I bought this bedding for my pet mouse. My mouse passed away after I switched to this bedding. I looked it up and several sites said that this bedding commonly has BLOOD SUCKING mites that can harm or kill your small critter. For clarification, my mouse had a clean cage, clean water, and food that is changed out every 2 days. He was about 4 months old and died suddenly. He had small red spots all over him. The mites. I recommend not buying this product. There are ways to get rid of the mite. One can be freezing it in your freezer for 48hr but it’s still possible the mites will live. If you do get this product and get in close contact with it is very possible that the mites will get on you, other pets, and belongings. Please don’t make the mistake I did and look for a different brand!

I have 8 robo hamsters in their own 800 sq inch enclosure, each have at least 10in of bedding throughout. I don’t like to skimp on bedding since they LOVE to burrow. This bedding is cheap for the amount you get, minimal dust, and is soft. I mix this with Kaytee Aspen Shavings and it holds their tunnels well. 85L lasts about a month with daily spot cleaning. I will continue to use this combo.

However, there is absolutely no odor control so don’t buy this if that’s what you’re looking for. The bedding stinks after 24 hours so I have to change the cage every other day. It’s also very dusty.

I watched a lot of videos from a very informative YouTuber on hamster care and she recommended this bedding because it wasn’t as dusty as other beddings and would hold up the tunnels/nests created by hamsters well. I tried Kaytee and another popular, colourful brand you can find at petsupplycanada and I can say for sure that it is significantly less dusty, making it better for small animals that are susceptible to respiratory illnesses/complications. It is sad that Kaytee doesn’t have many options for colours in the Canadian petsupplycanada stores since it is a really great brand for its quality, quantity, and price. I tried this recently, instead of Care Fresh. I like this much better. Care Fresh had a smell to it, this has no scent. Kaytee clean and cozy is lightweight, perfect for burrowing. My hamster never burrowed in Care Fresh (I think it compressed/compacted too easily), but immediately started burrowing in Clean and Cozy, and is now happily nested in her new burrow. I will buy this again.

This product super soft and fluffy and my hamster LOVES to burrowing in it! i just mix this with some orchard grass hay and her burrows never collapse *that i am aware of* and are always stable! she loves to make tunnels in caves and i would highly recommend buying this product if you want to have a happy hamster! *reminder: your hamster will only be able to make burrows and tunnels if you give them at LEAST 6 inches of bedding anything less then this is not enough bedding for them to burrowing and will result in a unhappy hamster. even if the top bedding brands or pet stores only recommend 1-3 inches of bedding this is INCORRECT. That’s like trying to cannonball into a pool with 1-3 feet of water (it doesn’t work) I would recommend going to the Hamster Hideout Forums to get correct information on how to keep a happy hamster!

It’s usually super white and really soft and absorbent, etc. However, In the past couple of months, the product I’ve been given has been an off-white old-looking color. And the texture isn’t soft but like dried chopped-up paper. This is how it’s been when I order to be delivered or pick up in the store. However, if I don’t order it online and go directly to the store and get it off the shelf myself then it’s the beautiful way it’s supposed to be. So what is up with this? If you have old unsold products in your store, I don’t want them for my pet. And if the Oxbow company is packaging this awful stuff you should send it back. Just saying. Other than that I love petsupplycanada very much.

This claims to have odor control but compared to others, these don’t control odor at all. In fact, I’m changing the bedding for my bunny every day as opposed to ever 3 days because the odor is so strong. If you must use bedding for your pet, USE THIS STUFF! I have for years and have Never had a problem. I also love the lavender scented one but scentless is great. The best part about it is how it really does expand and hold in all the water or urine 100%. And theres much more in the bag as you fluff it out when adding it into the cage.

I’ve been purchasing this brand of bedding for years but they’ve recently changed the bedding. It used to be of a lighter consistency and shredded. It was easy for my hamsters to burrow in and was absolutely dust free. The past two packages I’ve purchased have been the complete opposite. The paper is clumpy and is more dusty. My hamster has a very large cage and I could fill her cage with half of the 85l size, but now I have to use a full package. I have to mix it with my own shredded toilet paper and orchard grass hay just so she’s able to burrow!

Although I will continue to purchase this bedding for both my dwarf hamster and the bottom of my finch cage (he had a stroke and falls a lot) because it is very soft and absorbent, I have to note that the claim of being 99.9% dust free is not true. This bedding makes a lot of dust if you are using it for any critter that like to dig or tunnel; such as a hamster or rabbit, etc. I usually find a huge layer of dust on the table surrounding my hamster cage.

This bedding is perfect for your small pet. It absorbs very nicely and keeps odours to a minimum. It is sooooo soft and very safe for your pets. Both my hamsters love it and I will continue to buy it every time. I tried Carefresh but it was very hard, small pieces which my hamsters nor I didn’t enjoy. The only problem with this bedding is some batches come in very big pieces, and some come in very small strips (I prefer the small strips.) Other than that, it is perfect.

My son’s friend was giving away her Guinea pig. I was happy to get the cage, food & bedding witch was the clean & cozy. I had no problems with it. Excellent on the odor control! I’m new to all this… so I decided to look at reviews on other bedding. Like the carefresh & some paper bedding. Reviews were good so I gave it a try, plus it was on sale. That was the worst thing I could’ve done. I knew it was going to be all bad when I opened it for the 1st time and smelled a funky smell. My husband & children even noticed a nasty odor right after putting it in the cage. The smell was so bad that the hubby told me to throw that bedding out he was going to buy the clean & cozy.
Never again… lesson learn!

The hay is perfect for my fuzzy little hamster. She frequently potties and this hay holds up! I’ve been using Clean & Cozy for my syrian hamster, Maple, and while she loves it, after a week or two with spot cleaning every other day, her enclosure does start to smell a little. Not bad at all, but if smell is something that bothers you, this will not control it all that much. In terms of pricing, it does seem a little steep, but it does expand quite a bit, so you do get more than it seems like you are (Maple’s bin cage has ~950sq inches of floor space and the 24.6l size gives her about 6 inches of bedding to burrow in throughout the entire cage). Overall, as long as a slight smell isn’t a big issue for you, this bedding will definitely be your pet’s favorite.

As far as performance goes, this is a good bedding for guinea pigs. Very absorbent and easy to clean up. There is an offgassing or smell with it though, that can be an irritant to sinuses in smaller rooms. I have had to switch to another brand recently to avoid the issue.

We have 3 Guinea Pigs in a huge 6’x2’x4′ double decker cage. We use the entire 85L bedding every 2 weeks on the bottom and a small bag of bedding on top and I love it. After taking out the clumps and evenly spreading it out, there is roughly 1.5-2 inches or so of bedding in the entire cage. The cage never smells and the bedding is not dusty. So after being guilted into adopting these 3 brothers, and making my kids super happy, I can say I am extremely pleased with the quality and odor control of the clean & cozy bedding. I would definitely recommend this bedding to friends.

I had bought three packages from Kaytee, the first one was awesome! No problems at all, except ammonia control. It smelled terrible on day two. Don’t know if it’s the bedding, or the rats. I got another package when I cleaned their cage, (I had to sadly return the rats because they weren’t moving, biting, and had no interaction with humans. They were also from petsupplycanada.) and this one was also okay. The ammonia control is sort of better, and smelled a couple days in. I cleaned them I think three times now and when I got my package with the bedding in it, (and only bedding in it,) a thick layer of dust was on everything. I plan to return this and get a new one from Tractor Supply.
