[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, I RARELY take the time to leave a review, but this deserves the most glowing review I can muster. My Pyr has struggled with skin allergies his entire life. I was having to give him monthly cytopoint injections to the tune of $175 each due to his large size, get him regularly bathed with Chlorohexadine solution, he was suffering with ear infections from build ups of yeast, hot spots, etc. I had a MISERABLE dog. I poured myself into research and with the blessing of his vet; switched him to this food.

My dogs loved it but it is pricey and it was small breed so the pieces were small they had none of the usual one I buy where the kibble is larger. I have a golden retriever who has been plant based since he was 10 weeks old and the bites were small compared to what he is used to put he was fine with the food as wad my English Cocker.

My dog chronic pancreatitis and must be on a low fat diet. Unfortunately, most low fat dog foods contain either chicken or fish/salmon. My dog is allergic to both. Natural Balance Vegetarian is low fat and free of those allergens, plus it is reasonably priced. I do mix in a couple teaspoonfuls of Veterinary Royal Canin low fat GI canned food to provide some meat, but the canned is quite expensive so Natural Balance Vegetarian dry provides the bulk of her food. My dog absolutely loves her supper! She is getting enough protein, and the chronic pancreatitis has been well-controlled.

I’ve been feeding this to my dogs for years. I’m so happy they came out with the small breed kibble size as my dog is only 10lbs. He loves this food so much!! We use the canned version for his main meals, as our vet prefers older dogs to be mainly on a wet food diet for hydration. We use these kibbles for treats, snacks and to put in all his enrichment toys. He goes nuts for these kibbles in his snuffle mat, treat ball, and Kong Wobbler.
My vet reviewed Natural Balance as a brand and also this vegan version specifically and she’s happy with it. And I’m so happy to have a healthy plant based option for my little guy.

I have been a customer of Natural Balance for a period. This is our first time trying the Vegetarian recipe, we mixed the salmon recipe to feed my Toy Poodle. Unfortunately, my dog picks out every single piece of the Vegetarian formula and drops it on the ground. When I pick it up by hand, it hurts my fingers. That is unacceptable for something hard and sharp on the signal pieces. I can find the “Sharp” thing almost in single pieces. And just so you know, my dog ate one- third of a 12 lbs bag, not sure if his stomach already got hurt or not.

When our usual vegan dog food suddenly developed mold, we bought this as a temporary/emergency replacement until his replacement bag arrived. My pup has severe allergies and vegan food is the only food he can keep down without having a severe allergic outbreak all over his body and mouth. My pup (VERY) hesitantly ate two 1/4 cup servings of this food, and couldn’t stop scratching, itching and licking his paws almost raw! Plus, not sure what the fillers are, but he kept pooping large quantities relative to how much he ate (no diarrhea though). After that one day, he refused to touch this food and went hungry for more than a day until his usual food arrived (thankfully!) the next night. And once he went back to his usual brand, all symptoms subsided overnight. So, No, I definitely do not recommend this brand, especially if your pup has severe allergies. Limited ingredients were still not useful in our case.

Have been buying for a year. Not happy with the change in the size of the kibble.
