I gave her a bit of the food to try on its own before mixing some with her current food, and she wouldn’t touch it. The pieces are very small, so for my large old Labrador, it was a miss. I ended up mixing it 1/2 with her normal food and it was really hard for her to get the small food pieces. When I mixed it a little more lightly she did eat it all. I was never able to get her to eat it on her own, which is why I gave it 3 stars. I do love the quality of ingredients though

I find it hard to find a food they can all eat and like. My oldest is missing a few teeth which can make dry dog food difficult for her. I was willing to give this a try and so glad I did!
It’s a little more expensive than what I was buying but since all 3 eat it, I’m actually saving money since I’m not buying 2 different kinds of dog food.
The food bits are small, about the size of my pinky fingernail or comparable to a pea. The bits are tan in color. The flavor must be good because they start barking and running in circles as soon as they hear the first bits hit their bowl! I’ve noticed a difference in their coats since switching, too. Their coat is healthier, has more sheen. They have not gained any weight with this and have stayed within a few ounces of before I switched. The only thing I can think to improve is the bag, I’d love to see a resealable double zip bag but other than that, we’re now part of the Nutro family. Highly recommend.

I have a shitzu and as anyone that has one knows very well that they have really sensitive skin and have really bad allergy’s. Well I tried all kinds of food and nothing helped. Even if you don’t put it in front of him- and sometimes not even food! That being said, his mouth and his stomach don’t always agree on these decisions, and we struggled to find him a dog food that didn’t randomly cause messy potty time. After mixing in the Nutro and switching over to it, Diesel’s tummy seemed at ease with everything in it, and all is normal in the potty department.
The only major downside to this food is that it really stinks! Diesel doesn’t mind- he used to try to eat garbage- but holy cow does my kitchen smell some days!

He does not like vegetables, so when I saw it was made with sweet potatoes I thought he may not eat it. But I was wrong, he loved it! The pieces are little bites, which he prefers. And he really liked the taste. I thought it may be smelly since it was made with lamb but it isn’t, no strong odors. I mixed it with his regular food so as not to upset his stomach, then increased it to the Nutro Lamb and Sweet Potato food over time. It is nice that you do not have to overfeed them to get all the nutrients and a full belly. His fur is looking nice and he feels great! If your dog has sensitivities to grains or chicken/beef (which are not an ingredient), you should give this brand a try. I suspect it is very expensive though so I am not sure if I would continue my dog on it since he does fine with his other dog food. Price is definitely a concern for me.

My dog seemed to like it, as he ate it relatively normally after a bit of hesitating at the new food. He is a very large Newfoundland and isn’t a picky eater in the slightest.
Throughout the time I’ve had the food and how I’ve been giving him it for every meal, I’ve tried to see if I notice a difference in his behavior or energy levels, but neither me nor my friends when they are over at the house can tell a difference besides a slightly shiner coat. It’s just dog food for him I guess, but he enjoys it all the same!

Fillers like corn, wheat and soy can cause problems for our canine friends. Limited ingredient diets, like Nutro’s grain free kibble is very similar to what a dogs ancestors diet would be made up of, with protein being the very first ingredient. Knowing what is in my pets food is very important, especially since she has an allergy to chicken. I offered my dog a sampling of the nutro grain free lamb & sweet potato, and she devoured it immediately. I was worried she would not care for the small kibble size, considering she’s 50lbs, but it didn’t bother her and she ate the entire serving right away, turning down her normal (also special, grain free) kibble. She seemed to really enjoy it and didn’t think twice about it! The ingredients of the kibble are all healthful, and will help keep her coat shiny and healthy – she is prone to skin issues. The fact this kibble is corn and chicken free is essential – I would consider switching my dog to this specific dog food because she was so enthused about it and also it meets her special dietary needs.

Our girl is 13 years old and has been on this food for several years. The small kibble is easy for her to eat and her allergies eased up and disappeared once we switched her over to this food years ago. My dogs are pretty finicky! This one is different! They love it and I have no complaints… other than the cost $96.99. They’re worth every penny but if you can get the cost back to where it was $67.99 just a couple of years ago that would be great. Limited ingredient has been good for their sensitive tummy, too!
