I have started her on both this food and the calming care supplement. At first I really wasn’t sure if I noticed much of a difference after the minimum of 3 months. I’ve been using the Calm and Balanced Purina Pro Plan for about 3 months now and it does seem to be helping. My adult Alaskan Shepard has nighttime anxiety from previous neglect, and he bites his nails and chews on/licks his paws incessantly all night. It took some time on this food, but I have noticed that his nighttime paw chewing has decreased quite a bit. This food isn’t a miracle fix that totally eliminates anxiety, but it DOES work to reduce it. Give it some time (I’m talking 6-8 weeks) to work. It’s actually reduced his paw chewing and anxious panting at night more than his Thundervest. As for taste, he used to be on a general Purina Pro Plan blend for adult large breed dogs, and while he liked the taste of that one better (especially the little chicken bits in it), he did eventually start to eat the Calm and Balanced blend dry on its own. My roommates’ dogs are on Kibbles and Bits and would always steal the tasty pieces out of his previous food (it was a real problem), but they stopped going for his food dish as much once we switched to this food. I’m assuming that means it isn’t as tasty for them. They still do opt for his food over their own though, so it must be decent enough? Either way, my dog will eat it dry when hungry enough, and it definitely helped decrease his anxiety and primitive calmness at night.

I have enjoyed the benefits of this food, and it really seems to make a difference in anxiety. Not only that, but energy levels and skin and coat are also great. Overall, this product is amazing. However, please, PLEASE make more variety for this line! My other dog who would really benefit from this food is intolerant of poultry. I would buy it for her in a heartbeat if there were proteins other than chicken. I know a few other dog owners who want to try it as well, but chicken intolerance is common.

We ended up soaking the dry food with a little water to soften it up and mixed it with his typical wet food. He seemed to take it ok. Took him a little bit to be fully comfortable with something new. My CoCo is very high strung and was I was so excited about this new formula! I was hoping it would help calm her down and help her focus more. She’s such a foodie that I bought the largest bag as she eats everything! LOL Well, not this food. CoCo went four days only taking bites of the food. Even mixing it with her mates food didn’t help. I added it to his current food (to lessen any issues while changing) he ate all the Pro Plan leaving his old food remaining and came to bark at me till I added more Pro Plan to his bowl!
