Puppies start to nibble solid foods at 3 – 4 weeks of age. Keep moistened Pro Plan available at all times. Allow your puppy to eat at will until fully weaned (6 – 8 weeks). After weaning, Pro Plan can be fed moistened or dry. For best results, develop a regular feeding schedule such as three small meals a day for younger puppies. You can gradually reduce to one feeding in the morning and one in the evening as your puppy ages. The routine should not vary. As puppies near adulthood, their calorie needs may drop, and your puppy may begin leaving some food in the bowl. Don’t misinterpret this as an indication of dislike for the food. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They love the brand, taste and I love the price! Can’t beat everyone being happy
BigTankNewbie (verified owner) –
I switched from the normal chicken flavor. My Rottie pup loves it and it seems to have reduced her flatulence a little. It’s a little more expensive but given the ingredients that’s understandable. The only thing I don’t love is the pieces are so small for a large breed puppy food. I would prefer they were at least as big as the normal chicken large breed puppy.
Rutt (verified owner) –
This food has helped with her itchy skin. She was doing ok on the lamb and rice puppy but was so itchy we decided to try this food. She loves it and is not chewing on herself like she was. Normal stools too.
Shepmom2 (verified owner) –
When I rescued my German Shepherd pup he was super malnutrition and had been abused severely. He had round, hook, and tape worms. He had coccidia. He also had gastritis. He had never had true dog food so he didn’t even know how to chew food so when he would eat food it wouldn’t digest properly and would cause him so much pain. Finally we found Purina Pro Plan Sensitive stomach and life instantly got better. This food softens very fast so I could throw a cup of food and some warm bone broth in the blender and make his food so quick! Thankfully once he learned how to chew food I was able to give him this food in solid form. We’ve been on this food for 6 months and he went from being 37 pounds and weak to a big 70 pound happy bear!
Sammy5150 (verified owner) –
My Aussie doodle Bowser is a picky eater so he doesn’t necessarily go crazy over the food, but he has been eating this brand since 4 months and he has grown well and healthy. I really like this food for my puo
Pop (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this to help with bowel issues my dog developed and after a while it seems to have helped quite a bit. She’s not crazy over the taste and I sometimes have to add in toppers though
Winnie55 (verified owner) –
It’s been a great product to help with skin and coat!
Miggy27 (verified owner) –
This is excellent food for growing pups like our German Shepard, Miggy. He is a happy, healthy puppy since starting on Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy Dry Dog Food for Sensitive Skin and Stomach.
Remi2131 (verified owner) –
My dog Iches alot , was told it could be his food so we are giving it a try, no luck yet
dogdad95 (verified owner) –
This dog food is great for those furry members of our families who have sensitive tummies. With this brand, London doesn’t have either an upset stomach or intestines.
MollysMom (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Her coat is beautiful and her weight is perfect. We have no problems at all with this food
Ndamboise (verified owner) –
Our Aussie puppy is in great health and her coat looks awesome.

I had my puppy from 7 weeks old eating another brand of large breed puppy food. From the beginning, my puppy would sometimes wait until lunchtime to finally eat, or wait until I got home from work at almost 5pm to eat his first meal, he’d also get diarrhea randomly for no apparent reasons. Out of nowhere, he started having severely irregular bowel movements (completely liquid) all day, everyday around the age of 4-5 months. They weren’t stopping even with the medications the vet had prescribed. I then, took it upon myself to look for another large breed puppy chow that might remedy my baby’s condition. After researching other brands I came upon this and I bought my first bag. That was the best decision I could’ve made!
Yoshi Mom (verified owner) –
My Goldendoodle has been on this food ever since he was a puppy. Then this week he refused to eat from the new bag. I noticed the kibble was larger. After noticing the changes, I googled the food. So many complaints about their fur babies getting sick. Called the vet and he was put in Science diet and he loves it, very much. Why did you change the recipe????
Deiter My Luv (verified owner) –
I’ve been feeding this brand and flavor to my Rottweiler for about 12-13 bags now. He had terrible food allergies. He is doing really well on this food. Will be feeding it to him for another year until he’s two years old.
Tikka2 (verified owner) –
Great food for dogs with food sensitivity. Easy to feed.
ruslana88 (verified owner) –
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) My gsd puppy tried several other brands before we found Pro Plan Large Breed Salmon based kibble which works best for him. I give kibble combines with Fortiflora and his stool is always consistent, his coat is shiny. When he is older we will switch to Pro Plan Large breed salmon based for adults for sure
Noah21 (verified owner) –
Noah seems to enjoy it every day and it definitely makes his life better
Andy (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dog has been enjoying it. Not the same as before, but still likes it. Will continue buying and switch to adult soon
Angelinamonee (verified owner) –
This is the only one that wouldn’t cause my puppy to have diarrhea and makes his coat nice/shiny
Matt (verified owner) –
Product itself is 5 stars, but it would be nice to have a bigger bag since the dog is a large breed. Have to buy two of the 24lbs each month whereas just one if it’s the chicken flavor. For whatever reason she greatly prefers the salmon over chicken to the point where she’ll spit out the chicken kibbles.
Taiyo T 2022 (verified owner) –
Our 3 months old puppy had been having soft stool since he came to us at 9weeks old.
We were feeding Blue Balffalo puppy chicken&brown rice back then. We thought it might be hook warm but after he is done taking medicine from VET, he still had soft stool. So we decided to change to Purina and VET mentioned maybe he doesn’t do well with chicken.
He is still in the process of fully change to Purine but his stool has back to solid ones!
lisagx7 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started buying this because I have 2 German Shepherds – one is 1 year and the other is 5 months. One one year old had a constant rash on her stomach. We switched to the Salmon and Rice and the rash has been gone since then.
Canon84 (verified owner) –
The salmon and rice line from Pro plan is definitely amazing for dogs with allergies. I have tried Purina one chicken and rice not sure if it was the chicken or fillers broke her out. This one doesn’t have fillers like the other one does. Plus the salmon makes my 1 year old Pit/Lab mix coat look amazing while the rice definitely keeps her full throughout the day with all that energy she has.
casharon (verified owner) –
My dog does very well on this formula. She likes it.
Dr KC (verified owner) –
Purchased this food a month ago for a rescue German Shepherd with moderate to severe dermatitis. Her coat is now shiney and healthy appearing (had been dull and covered in flakes), itching has almost completely stopped, and she genuinely enjoys the food. Would recommend giving this a try for dogs with allergies and sensitive skin.
jpl931 (verified owner) –
I’ve been using it exclusively for 16 months and so far it has worked very well.
Kathydisneylover (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve been using this food for about 3 months now and the results are just amazing for their coat. It’s shiny and sleek feeling and we get so many compliments and are asked what we feed them. River and Raven love the food too!
Ella1ur (verified owner) –
This food has changed my dogs dry skin and dull coat. Great for food for chicken allergies.

Have 2 85 pound 17 month old Golden Retriever males who have been on this since they were pups.
Gypsy 304 (verified owner) –
We just started our 7 month old Pitsky on this and so far she loves it. She was having stomach issues with Hills science so her Vet Recommended we try this. Her first time having A fish based product and she loves it. She can’t wait for feeding time eats it all at once. Unlike previous brand she kept going back and eating small amounts until it was gone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My last american bully was on blue buffalo and it was way too much protein we love this dog food and how it has done wonders for our dog and his growth so far.

I brought this for my Rottweiler and he loves it but goes through the bag in 2-3 weeks time. Wish they had he standard large bags.
ZanderMom (verified owner) –
This used to be a great product. Unfortunately, it started to make my pup sick ao I had to switch foods.
Adadog (verified owner) –
Our 5 month old GSD loves this. Have had no problems. We switched from Purina Pro Plan Puppy lamb and rice to get large breed benefits.

My puppies love the taste of the food!
Excellent food…
Harzoshe (verified owner) –
I have used this for a while now and love the food but hate the price. I feed 3 dogs and it gets super expensive.
Labmom23 (verified owner) –
Bought this lastonth for my chocolate lab who was having stomach issues and this is working welland shr has shiny coat without itching
Bears Mom 2021 (verified owner) –
I bought this because it was recommended by a GSD breeder. My puppy loves the taste and it corrected the tummy issues he was having with a different brand of puppy food. The price is high, but the quality of the food is great. The breeder who recommended it to me said she has seen a huge improvement in her puppies/dogs since she began feeding them this brand.
Doggy chew (verified owner) –
It’s a little pricey but my dog loves and no more stomach issues
Rae (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After my GSD puppy having loose stool for over a month I decided to talk with friends and switch his food to this bc I was sure he had a food allergy. I’m so glad after switching to this I’m seeing improvement in his poo.
KristiF (verified owner) –
I have three doodles, all with chicken allergies. The salmon mix works great. Too bad it’s so hard to find the one for puppies up to 2 years old.
Marandagillam (verified owner) –
Since buying this I noticed that my pup was not scratching as much and his fur is so silky and beautiful
Pupluv22 (verified owner) –
After struggling to find a good ingredient, dog food, my trainer recommended this one. Definitely a premium food. My puppy has done absolutely great on it. She’s a German Shepherd mix. She has gained 20 pounds since I got her. She was starving and found on the street and now she’s living her best life and super healthy! Definitely recommend this food. The vet said her coat was gorgeous so I think it’s an all-around great product with something for everyone. Besides it being super Healthy, my puppy loves it and would eat it plain out of the bag with no topper. I think the before and after pictures speak for themselves!
Kellz124 (verified owner) –
Our German Shepard was a very picky eater as a young pup. After trying so many different brands. We finally gave Purina Pro Plan a shot and haven’t looked back. He loves the food and seems to keep his digestive problems at bay. Thank You!
mamabear321 (verified owner) –
we love that we have different flavor options. this food was reccomended by our breeder, and love it.
T shirt (verified owner) –
This is the only food my dane can eat. He has terrible skin allergies and a sensitive stomach.
Troyfan (verified owner) –
Leo loves it, but it stinks to us humans!! But I think retrievers eat anything.
Alaska (verified owner) –
Our 2 German Shepherd’s love this kibble! Our 11 month old has chicken allergies and finding a dry kibble that does not have chicken in it is almost unheard of. Since we free feed, having them both on the same kibble was a must. Our 5 month old loves it as well. Bonus meals include fresh caught Alaskan Salmon!
Adadog (verified owner) –
My GSD loves this food dry or with a little water. She is 9 months old and has been eating it since she was 3 months. Her coat is getting much nicer.
Shan10 (verified owner) –
My dog has chicken allergies and nothing was working. Since switching to this he has been all good. So happy I made the switch ❤️
auntp2663 (verified owner) –
Still using to see if it helps him. He had a tough life before some one came to see if we would take him. Things are getting better slowly. Kept in a kennel more hours than out of, previous 2 owners. Now after trips to vet and meds, it is helping.
MLBARTMAN (verified owner) –
My picky eater loves this food. I bought it for our new addition to the family. He was throwing up until we put him on this food. Both dogs love this food.
Baileys Dad (verified owner) –

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had issues with sensitivity to every other food we tried. This one is like a miracle worker for his sensitive stomach.
Lristintree (verified owner) –
My 12m Aussie Pyrenees has a very sensitive tummy and this is one works well for her. Her coat is soft and silky, she’s growing well, and this food doesn’t cost an arm and a leg (she is 65 lbs and eats 4 c a day, one large bag lasts a month). Highly recommend.
Sydnee (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My puppy has been having such a hard time with itching as well as some loose poops. After reading some things I’ve read that German shepherds often have a lot of trouble with allergies so I decided to try this food. She’s been on it for a week now and so far I notice her poop has firmed up
cobryan (verified owner) –
Only food my dog will eat she loves it and we have tried plenty of different ones before she chose thise
Metz65 (verified owner) –
We tried several different foods for our lab including grain free and science diet. They all gave him terribly soft and or runny stools. We made several different trips to the vet to rule out parasites or sickness. The vets next move was going to be a prescription diet which is extremely expensive. We had someone recommend the PPP sensetive skin and stomach salmon and rice large breed puppy food and decided it was worth a shot. He now has great consistent stools, a bright shiny coat and absolutely thrives on this food. No corn, wheat or byproducts, includes pre and probiotics and as a plus this food is also WSAVA compliant. Would recommend this food without hesitation.
Embers (verified owner) –
Our lab puppy is allergic to chicken. She had severe diarrhea, itchy skin and blisters. The salmon food made a noticeable change within 1 day. She has been on it for 4 months and it has worked miracles for our dog.
nataliek151 (verified owner) –
My dog really likes this food. Not enough for me to use it as treats though lol. But she always eats and wants more afterwards.
Angelm615 (verified owner) –
My vet recommended it, and my puppy has been doing great on it.
Caera (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My pups like this food a lot. They were sick and had stomach problems when I adopted them, plus they’re very particular about what they’ll eat, so I’m happy to give them this food and they’re excited to eat it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs love purina pro plan salmon, and rice formula. My male has a chicken allergy and this salmon and rice formula has been perfect for him
OppiesMom (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Helps my pups stomach, I’m not sure about his skin. Shepherds are notorious for skin issues and my pup still needs Cytopoint. I will continue to purchase for the stomach pros.
susanne 72 (verified owner) –
I thought of Purina as an a cheaper brand of dog food. I was wrong. I have 3 dogs that are now using the “sensitive” diet and they are all doing well. No GI problems like soft watery poops. Would highly recommend this dog food. I like that it has no wheat which made an huge difference in one of my goldendoodles
Joyce Marie (verified owner) –
I bought this brand as recommended for my white boxer. His health and energy level improved dramatically.
YeastyYuk (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog didn’t like this one, trying to help my fluffers with his extreme skin yeast/dermatitis, people say it’s his gut, probiotics, he’s allergic to this or that, at this point I am trying everything I just don’t want him to scratch and itch
Kane Doggie (verified owner) –
My fur baby has a sensitive stomach so we switched to Purina. Prior to the switch he would have to have human food mixed but he loves to eat the Purina by itself.
Jackson23 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This food has been wonderful. Our new foster puppy absolutely loves it and was in need of some good nutrition. It’s helped him put on weight already and he is always excited for breakfast. Purina Pro plan is my favorite thing for growing puppies!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog absolutely loves this food! I have no issues getting him to eat when I break out the Purina.

We have been buying this exact food from Pets Mart for over a year. Our Boxer is just over a year and he has a sensitive stomach. This last bag had magots in it and we ended up having to kill over 20 flies in our home. it was disgusting. Taking the whole thing back today. BARF!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My German Shepard is 7 months old. We started him on this after a bad time with the suggested food from the breeder. His poor stomach was terrible. Took him to our vet. Said his tummy was not processing such a high protein food and suggested we try Purina Pro Plan for Large breed dogs that was stomach sensitive. After a week or so , he was perfect. Still is today ! Great food for our fur baby !!

Our silly girl loves this food! She has food sensitivity issues and this food has cleared it up, even if she has some smelly farts at night, still worth it for our baby!
Clams123 (verified owner) –
I’ve made this a part of my pups diet after discovering she’s allergic to chicken. I searched for the next best thing and this seemed to check all the boxes. The ingredients list doesn’t have a 1000 different things I can’t pronounce, includes lots of essentials, and doesn’t have chicken or byproducts. I love what this has done for my girl — her skin, nails, and coat are healthy and the salmon doesn’t give her bad breathe. This is our go to!
GoldenFinn_Mom (verified owner) –
Perfect for our 8.5 month old Golden Retriever! He is allergic to chicken, our veterinarian recommended a good fish based diet and we were recommended this!

I have had my standard poodle puppy on pro plan since he was 6 weeks old. He is allergic to chicken so I use the lamb and rice or the salmon with rice. He loves the food and it agrees with his stomach. My vet said that was what he would have recommended as well.

My vet recommended this formular coz my puppy has a consistent diarrhea. It wasnt work right the way, for my puppy it takes time. I also add pack of probiotics eveyday. Everything good except price. I wish it is cheper

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I switch to sensitive stomach because my dog was having a lot of very wet poops, and it helped a lot! We’re just about ready to switch away from puppy, but I’m very happy with the experience we’ve had.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Sometimes it can be hard to find this in our area. I just assume because it’s such a good dry food. We are moving to adult food next bag, but we’ll stick with the same formula. I find it is easier for her to digest, she has formed solid stools. Her coat looks amazing and shines. We’ve never had a problem getting her to eat since 8 weeks old. She ate it dry until 4 months old. Then we added the canned food of the same formula.

I’ve been feeding my puppy this since she was about five months old. She is a year old now and this newest bag has made her sick. It was the only thing new so I am 90% sure that it was caused by the food. She got green eye discharge and diarrhea

I just got a Weimaraner puppy and did a lot of research to make sure that I am feeing him the best food. This food has giving him a health coat and the vet told me he is growing nicely. Furthermore he enjoys eating it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I Use this food for my German shepherd. She has a very sensitive stomach and this food doesn’t bother her one bit! I really wish they made it in a bigger bag. 24lbs is too small for a large breed dog food, other than that love this!

My Doberman is 13.5 weeks and he stomach issues since we got her at 8 weeks. She has been on 2 rounds of meds and prescription foods too. It’s been a mess and stressful. New vet recommended this food and to start it asap. And this am she had a NORMAL bm! Thank you Purina!

This is the only food that my dog can eat due to sensitive stomach. He loves it. Just wish I could get it in a larger bag than 24lbs.
Wild Labradoodle Mom (verified owner) –
I’ve been looking for the perfect large breed puppy food for my quickly-growing pup (5.5 month-old 47lb labradoodle), and was so excited to see this one also is good for sensitive skin and stomachs! He’s always had a sensitive stomach and this food has made his booboo look normal for the first time, though I have no clue what it may have done for his skin since he still scratches. It’s perfect from what I can tell!

Bought this on a recommendation to help with digestive issues. Easy to switch and is helping resolve digestive problems.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was looking for best options for our 8 MOS GSD, taking into consideration healthy nutrition, whole ingredients, potential shepherd specific allergies, skin/stomach sensitivities, etc. This recipe was highly recommended and did not disappoint – our girl absolutely LOVES this food and licks her bowl clean at every meal! Transitioning from previous food was easy, fast , and without incident.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our Bernese Mountain Dog pup had constant tummy troubles from the day we brought him home until we switched him to this food. No more nights of getting up every 30 minutes and explosive liquid puppy poops! My adult German shepherd is on the all life stages sport version of the same food and it’s excellent!

Normally we buy boutique brands of dog food, but when researching, nobody else makes a puppy food for large dogs with sensitive skin!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been feeding my 11 month old Rottie this since the day we brought him home. His siblings who went to a few of my friends have fed their pups other food some even did raw diets. Kenai not only has the shiniest coat of them all, and hasn’t had the digestive problems some of his litter mates have had; he’s significantly bigger too (not in an unhealthy way). Purina Pro Plan large breed sensitive stomach is the way to go.
flashbulb (verified owner) –
I was recommended this food by my vet. After he got on me about Blue Buffalo being junk and all their money goes into their packaging and not the quality of their food. My dog was getting sick from any chicken products. So Purina Pro Plan has salmon and rice for sensitive stomach works great Just a good quality food.
SUPERNova (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our puppy loved this food. I was able to use it as training treats as well as her food. She would gobble it up as soon as it hit her bowl. Sadly we have to stop using it due to a hydrolyzed diet, but when we are done with the food trial, we will likely go back to this food if we are able.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bella and Friday love this dog food, but I do not like the fishy smell. I believe the product is good but a little expensive. mine Shepherd mix appears to have skin allergies and that is why we are trying Parina pro plan for sensitive stomachs, large breed puppy. Friday is still itching, but not as bad.
Billy bob Thorton (verified owner) –
I bought this a couple of weeks ago. $70 for 24lbs. Seemed expensive. Checked Chewy same price for 38lbs.
lsmith1 (verified owner) –
Our pup seems to like the taste better than the previous puppy food I was using. Her itching is also going away. We have NOT experienced the fishy odor from her skin like some have mentioned and her transtion to the new food went smoothly, no messy poops! Our vet has recommended keeping her on salmon and rice to help with her skin as well. She is happy so we’re happy. (She is a standard poodle.)
BelgianMalinois (verified owner) –
No complaints, my kids are doing great on it. They seem to like the taste and we’re doing great so far.
Kodiak2 (verified owner) –
Puppy started to develop loose stools and we weren’t sure if it was from teething, antibiotics (he came down with Giardia) or a combination of the two. After completing the antibiotics, he still had loose poops so we decided to try a change in diet. after some research on the ingredients, we decided to try the Purina ProPlan for puppies and he has done very well with it.

After trying a few popular dog foods, our vet recommended this to stop our German Shepherd’s digestive issues and it worked. He likes the food and I love that it is specifically for bigger breeds as well. Highly recommended.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is excellent for my Golden’s sensitive tummy. She absolutely loves the food and as a bonus it makes her coat extra shiny and soft. I cannot recommend this enough!!
cewinn02 (verified owner) –
I have a golden retriever pup who I have fed this food to since she was 8-weeks old on the recommendation of both the breeder and the vet. Purina is a large brand with extensive in-house specialists and nutritionists so I know my puppy is getting the balanced nutrition she needs. I fed my last dog grain free only to find out that many dogs being fed grain free were developing cardiac problems due to the lack of taurine in those foods. Go with what the trained professionals recommend, not the clever “dogs are carnivores” branding and marketing!!!!

My bernese mountain dog puppy was having problems with his bowels .Purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach large breed puppy food really made a difference and helped him and that is what he is eating now. Thanks Purina.

I feed this to my puppies an they are huge is excellent
Big Bruno (verified owner) –
I bought this dog food a month ago for Bruno, which is a Cane Corso breed. Bruno really enjoyed this food. However I begin to notice irritation and dryness and more shedding then usual. The only new change was the switch in his food. We usually buy the same brand but went with Salmon&Rice. Good Brand but be careful of any physical changes in your dog with this food.

Our Golden Retriever puppy had constant diarrhea for three months. We recently switched to this product and the results have been amazing. Within a week his stool was 100% better. Very happy!
Mynnk (verified owner) –
Due to a chicken allergy we have been giving our gsd puppy this for two months now. She is very food driven, but does not seem to care for this. She will eat it, but very little at a time. We will continue to search for a different food without chicken, which is very hard to find. Especially for a large breed puppy.

My pup was having stomach issues with Blue Buffalo Large Puppy formula, for 7 of his 10 months, so I decided to try Purina Pro Plan Development Large Breed Puppy Dry Dog Food – Sensitive Skin & Stomach, Salmon & Rice. I add a little Kefir and sardines to his kibble. He has had no stomach issues and has so much more energy. I am so glad I switched his food
AGU 3 (verified owner) –
Switched over from Hills (not what it was 20 years ago) and poop quality improved overnight. My 7 month old sheepadoodle loves the salmon and rice. No issues. Hopefully Purina doesn’t change the formula. Only con is the largest bag size is smaller than the largest Hills bag but yet still more expensive. It’s worth it, though.

My Dog loves this food. We switched from a chicken based food to this for sensitive stomach salmon based food. His sores from itching went away, I am very happy with it. Just one comment-as it is for large breed, shouldn’t the kibble size be a bit bigger?
Gail H (verified owner) –

I have 3 German Shepherds. 1 is 57 lbs and backyard bred. The next is 72 lbs and was conceived in Serbia and born in the USA. A beautiful dog. The last, my boy has what I think as impressive bloodlines…95 lbs. My boy has a sensitive stomach so all are fed this food. All thrive. Beautiful coats. Alert and attentive. No more dry skin. No more diarrhea.

Our two Golden Retriever 15 month old pups (Milo & Cooper) have been on this since birth and thoroughly enjoy it (along with a little chicken).
