But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your petâs health, see your veterinarian regularly.
Transition Instructions:
When switching to Purina Dog Chow from another food, please allow 7 – 10 days for the transition. I bought it a month ago and it’s great food. My dogs coats got shiny and look healthy, they also have more energy.
Marsha D (verified owner) –
This has been a great food for my chocolate lab. He has less scratching episodes and enjoys the taste. The price is also good for a quality food.
OliVu92 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My pitbull has very sensitive skin and stomach issues. This food seems to have minimized the issues, but she still has flare ups.
Maximus47 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog used to be really itchy, but now with this food he isn’t as itchy. His poops are much better, he seems to not get sick as often either.
GoldenTucker2020 (verified owner) –
My nearly two year old Golden has always had a very sensitive tummy so we were delighted when we found the salmon and rice recipe of Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach really seemed to help him have regularity with his digestion and stools. However over the past 6 months or so, there seems to have been a big decrease in quality or maybe they tweaked the recipe? Not sure but we are researching other options now after the last bag we purchased give him instant and horrible diarrhea. And this sadly isn’t the first “bad batch” we’ve received recently.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very good dog food, helps with mikos skin problem.miko loves this good and can’t wait for meal times

This is one of the only foods that has helped keep my fur baby’s skin and tummy in check!
Pickconew (verified owner) –
Pixie loves the formula always in stock better than Costco
Honeybee1979 (verified owner) –
This dog food has made my dogs all gassy. They love the food, but their farts are awful
Anonymous (verified owner) –
After our dogs regular food from a boutique pet store more than doubled in price over the past 3 years, we decided we needed to find something more affordable. Our senior lab can have food troubles though so I was worried switching him to this food would cause issues. Been about a month since we switched and both our dogs are doing great! I’m so relieved that it’s working for them. This bag is also bigger than the fancy store one and literally less than HALF the price. 5 stars!
Remington (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have tried many different foods with no luck. With multiple vet trips for stomach problems, it was recommended by the vet to start her slowly onto this food. It seems to be the only food that don’t give her loose stool.
Dawn02 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great brand of dog food for my girls! 2 German shepherds eat sensitive skin/stomach and they love it.
Mb (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Usually this food is fine but my bag had stringy cobweb looking substance in it as well as pieces of food with larvae or bugs
Marymac18 (verified owner) –
This is the only food that my boxer can eat due to his sensitive stomach and allergies.

Barkley has a sensitive stomach and had itchy skin. I switched him to this good and he is doing much better in less then 2 weeks. He is scratching much less1
GSDMama (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve spent alot of time researching as I’ve had GSD’s with terrible allergies. This is the most trusted brand and one of the few brands that offers an option with no chicken or lentils.
Castillo7 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this product! Have been using it for my 3yo GSD since he was a puppy. We first used the puppy line and now the adult line. No issues and he loves it!
SamiJo (verified owner) –
No more diarrhea getting up 3 or 4 times in the wee hours.
Sashasashi (verified owner) –
My girl has been on this for 3 years. She used to have dry patches due to sensitive skin and red spots between her toes. Both have cleared up since being on the food. We love it. The only thing I DONT love is the $10 price increase in 1 year.
Lauren312 (verified owner) –
Has really helped our dogs gut issues and he is much happier
Jilliebean9700 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the only non prescription brand that doesn’t mess up my dog’s stomach.
Charlotte92 (verified owner) –
Back in January 2024, Purina removed the probiotics from this food and it’s wreaking havoc on the poor dogs that have been eating it for years. Both of Golden Retriever and Doodle were sick for weeks before we figured out it was due to their food. Purina didn’t bother to notify its consumers when they adjusted the ingredients!
DKane (verified owner) –
My dog has had stomach issues and bad skin allergies since he was just a puppy. I have tried so many other foods and none would help with those issues. I switch to Purina pro plan adult food for large breeds, with sensitive stomachs, and sensitive skin. He doesn’t care for the flavor at all. I add canned food to it. It’s just the only food that helps him have regularly solid stools and his skin has stopped having allergic reactions. I was able to stop giving him his allergy medicine all together.
Tj (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Switched my dogs to this and no more issuesLike mushy poops, digestive issues
QO (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good for adult dogs who have sensitive stomach or skin. Good for potential allergy

I’ve been feeding PPP for quite some time and the last bag I got of this flavor my dog hated and it made him sick! Switched from PPP to a totally different brand!
Bobetta232 (verified owner) –
The only cost effective food that my dog isn’t allergic to. That said, it’s very expensive and the large breed can be very hard to find in stock. He is a mastiff cross so he goes through the regular food at nearly triple the rate. I don’t know if I’ll stay on this food forever due to the price and the inconsistent stock, but it’s helped calm his skin and allergen issues.
Moose and Tilly (verified owner) –
My dog cannot eat chicken so it’s very hard to find a good for.
both mt Pitty and Lab love it
hazysmahma (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My young lab has been on this food for most of her life now. We started her out on another Purina Pro Plan for puppies and then switched to this salmon sensitive skin and stomach for puppies and now adult. She had terrible issues with diarrhea and after many visits to the vet we determined she just has a sensitive belly and skin. This food has helped tremendously. Five stars from me!
Corsox2 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I get to about 1/4 of the bag left. I have to sift the rest of the food before feeding it to my dogs. There is about 5-6 cups of food dust on the bag. It causes my Dogs to cough and choke of I don’t sift it. Also I’m not getting the true weight of the 34lbs I purchased. Also have not been getting coupons from the Purina rewards program. There hasn’t been any offered this past time.
TR (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our German shepherd had dry itchy skin and scratched and chewed on herself constantly. We tried prescriptions and non-Rx supplements but they either didn’t help at all or only provided temporary relief. The Pro Plan sensitive skin salmon and rice is a game changer! No more itchy girl scratching all night and she loves the taste. It’s not cheap, but our baby’s comfort is worth it!
Sadie (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog loves this food. I found she was allergic to chicken and this food has been great for her!

I got them on a sale, and was very happy with my purchase. Hope they get more in stock though.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We finally found a food that BOTH of our Great Pyrenees will eat! Not an easy task! But they and we don’t love how much powder/food dust is in the bag! If too much is in their bowls they won’t eat it.
Dog mom (verified owner) –
We switched from IAMS dog food to Purina Pro Plan (highly recommend from my German Shepherd group) due to our dog having accidents in the house (stool) when we were gone and sadly, we waited until she was three years old before we made the switch; but now after Purina Pro Plan; NO MORE ACCIDENTS!!!!!! It’s a game changer/ life saver! Only down side is that it’s double the cost of our old dog food; but no more accidents and a happy dog! Whatever the formula, please never change it!
dog mom of 3 (verified owner) –
our little rescue has food allergies and this food is great for her
Jimmy2023 (verified owner) –
We had been using this dog food without problems for about a year. Until an expensive vet visit and strict elimination diet recently we realized the bloody diarrhea and vomiting was actually due to the changes in the dog food he had been using for a long time
Vicky18 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Started my pups on chicken puppy chow That was good for a month or so. Then tummy problems started. Throwing up diarrhea. After testing, the vet suggested putting them on special diet for sensitive stomachs , salmon and rice. That was it they stared to get adjusted on the new food flavor, salmon. So the salmon comes in a mixture of rice or you can get salmon and sweet potato, so your dog should never be bored of the salmon flavor. Also, it is improved their skin and coats. Both of them are very shiny and healthy looking.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog was doing a lot of scratching causing red spots and sores on his stomach. After switching to the sensitive formula, it ha@ signigantly cleared up.

This formulas has been great for our “itchy” dog. She’s thriving on it. I appreciate Purina’s long-standing, reliable reputation, for quality products.
justin2023 (verified owner) –
My dog loves this. She is always anxiously waiting for her breakfast & dinner. Feel good we are giving her a healthy diet.
jodyne (verified owner) –
I took advantage of the sales after Christmas and have stocked up for our dogs. Good deal
Julesga02 (verified owner) –
My 2 yr old yellow lab would throw up every couple of weeks on the chicken & rice formula and my Vet suggested changing his food to a lg breed sensitive skin & stomach (fish based) food and 6 weeks later he’s done great on this food and no issues/vomiting. Other than the price I’ve been very pleased. Wish it came in a bigger bag.
mattagre (verified owner) –
Seriously, my dog loves this food. He’s been on a chicken protein food for the last year and a half and has never shown excitement towards eating his food. Not anymore with this jam!!
Torch (verified owner) –
Our golden Abby loves the food and I am glad it is good for her. Seems to fill up better than the brand we got because we can feed her a bit more and still maintain her weight.
KayMay8888 (verified owner) –
I bought this for my dog with a sensitive tummy. It does not contain any chicken products which my dog cannot tolerate. My dog enjoys eating it and her tummy has been great since switching
SassyMomma (verified owner) –
We have been trying different sensative skin products for our GSD’s but found the ones we tried had chicken or chicken broth which one of ours is allergic to. This one has NONE! All ready seeing improvement after 1 bag.
GramaB (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We couldn’t find our regular flavor of Proplan this past month. At first he chowed down because he was hungry. Since then he has been turning his nose up at this food. We have used Proplan

Not Good (verified owner) –
I started feeding PPP SS Salmon and rice to my lab 5 years ago when he was having trouble with other brands. It was great until 2-3 months ago when I noticed he was having more diarrhea and itching.
My second lab, who does not have sensitivities, eats the same food, and he has started burping every day.
Kevin b (verified owner) –
Our dog has allot of food sensitivities, so once we got results from testing, this is the food we got our shepherd. He used to throw up once every week to 2 weeks. On this food he hasn’t thrown up in a couple months yet. Nothing else has changed in his diet. Price is on point also for the 35Lb bag I wish they would ship to my adress

Great product, but no longer available for autoship ??
TervMomof3 (verified owner) –
I have 2 Shepherds with sensitive stomachs. This food was recommended by friends & our vet & I wanted to get away from everything chicken. I first tried a very small bag of the adult formula before investing in this large bag. They took to it immediately, virtually no conversion time needed. I had this delivered same day & it was here in time for their dinner. They thought they were getting a big bag of treats!. The kibbles are a good size while the adult formula kibbles seemed a bit too small & as fyi, their canned food topping is prescription food from the vet, the only canned food they can handle. I’m very pleased with this product, just wish a smaller bag was available.
airtazgirl (verified owner) –
I started using this food when recommended by the doggie dermatologist for our allergy pup. Had to switch our other to it as well to avoid her getting the wrong food. Both of them had less gas and the allergy babies skin improved. Now it is all we use for all our dogs! Our pitties do really well on it and like it! I have found my girl likes the larger kibble.
rescuse pet (verified owner) –
Seems to be great for sensitive stomach and the dog likes it. Was a good transition from Hills prescription as he was adopted from the shelter and was initially having stomach issues.
3Chelle (verified owner) –
My GSD seemed to do okay on this kibble transitioning from the vets prescribed diet.
Although it didn’t last very long. He now has a loose still at the end of the day consistently.
We haven’t ruled out an underlying conditions yet. Although he did great on the prescribed food.
So I’m convinced he has an intolerance of some sort. I will be transitioning over to Royal Canin sensitive stomach, it’s higher in fiber and less fat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great food for dogs with sensitive stomachs. My dog loves his salmon kibble.
CompletelySaneCatLady (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This food has been a lifesaver. My GSD suffers from severe skin allergies. At first I him on HSD sensitive skin formula. While he liked the taste, it didn’t control his itching, so I also had to give him Apoquel, 1

Since my 4 1/2 year old Black Lab Beau has been on this dog food his coat is so soft and shiny, and what’s most important is that he absolutely loves it . As I am preparing it he is jumping up and down like a kangaroo gets so excited.

Our rescue pup was vomiting about once a week early in the morning and the veterinarian recommended this dog food for sensitive stomachs. We have had only one incident in two months and that was just a couple of days after we made the switch. Our nights have been peaceful since the transition.

Best dog food for my German shepherd’s sensitive stomach. She loves it.
Vera63 (verified owner) –
My kids have enjoyed healthy skin as well as their stomachs for more than 9 years!
Lassiedog (verified owner) –
I hate leaving bad reviews but both the adult and puppy version made my dog incredibly sick. We couldn’t figure out for the longest time why he was having bouts of vomiting. After switching to a low ingredient dog food that is more expensive but worth it for his quality of life, our pup has been better than ever. No fillers and it’s wild how much smaller his poop is now that the food he’s eating is mostly nutritious and his body is actually getting what it needs. So disappointed.
Dogs4Life (verified owner) –
My dogs love this food, great for their sensitive stomachs. Don’t have to add anything to entice them to eat.
Moose baby (verified owner) –
My dog had several skin and stomach issues and we struggled to help him feel better. This food has helped his skin and stomach issues. Bonus is he loves the food!
Esco813 (verified owner) –
Our pup had diarrhea since we brought him home. All tests were negative and we figured out it was a chicken allergy. It’s hard to find a formula that is for sensitive dogs + GRAIN INCLUSIVE. We started with the puppy formula and have now transitioned to the large breed variant. Firm stools and consistent schedules for us now! Our pup LOVES it too.
danakbk (verified owner) –
My Rottweiler German Shepherd mix was doing wonderfully on this food! His coat was so shiny and he was so eager to eat it! I fed it to him for a long time, but up until the price increase, I’ve had to switch to a different Purina food.
ArlosMom (verified owner) –

Started our English Mastiff puppy with Purina One Large Breed puppy. When he got to about 6-8 months of age started showing some skin problems. Vet gave us lots of stuff to try and it would clear it up as long as we kept using it. I did some reading and saw a lot of forums talking about our dogs having trouble with the way they process the chicken in dry dog foods so switched him to this and by the end of the first bag his skin has cleared up with out any of the stuff the vet sold us. My dog did not seem to notice a taste difference when switching and the process went well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog has been on the same food brand for almost 2 years. She started to just skip meals because the food lacked appeal. She also started to develop itchy skin. I switched to pro plan food and she is excited about her food again. Her skin has been less itchy and her fur is smooth.

My dog has a very sensitive stomach. I have tried different foods and treats. He does really well on Pro Plan by Purina. I make sure I get the salmon for sensitive stomachs. Since I have stuck to that he has regular bowel movements that are firm.

My golden retriever has allergies. I started him on this food and he stopped licking his paws and scratching. I tried to give him another salmon dog food and he immediately went back to licking. So we went back to pro plan sensitive skin and stomach. I highly recommend this product for those pups that struggle with allergies.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After years of searching for a food for my German Shepherd/Husky mix, I finally found this one.My dog always used to turn his nose up at meal times and get nauseous from not wanting to eat his food. After switching to this food, I never have to worry if he’ll eat and noticed an increase in activity, a lovely soft and shiny coat, and great poops!I couldn’t be happier with this food! I love knowing it’s for large breed as well. It’s also slightly lower in calories than the regular Sensitivite Skin and Stomach, so I can feed slightly more, leaving my dog feeling more full longer!

Jamie G (verified owner) –
My pup was born with a sensitive stomach to poultry. We tried him on a number of different foods, different protein types, different brands, different sensitivity formulas, and this was the only food that my pup was able to eat. He would vomit all the other types of foods almost instantly every time he ate, and scratched like crazy. This includes Purina One, even that he couldn’t eat. That all stopped when we switched to Purina Pro Plan sensitive skin/stomach.
We started with the formula for large breed puppies, and last January (2022) we switched him to the same formula for adult large breed dogs.
Coming up to a year now on the adult formula and it’s still our favourite – highly recommend it if your dog (puppy or adult) has tummy troubles!

One of my dogs like the salamon and rice taste, but the other not so much. It helps both of my dogs with their digestion issues. What I don’t care for is that there is so much dust in each bag. Towards the bottom of bag I usually need to add water to their bowls because of the small dust like particles. Recommend if your dog has stomach issues.

Seems to be the perfect food for our dogs sensitive stomach..

This is the only dog food that our Berner can eat! If you have a chicken sensitive dog, this is the product for you.
Dogs4Life (verified owner) –
My dogs love this food, they used to have bouts of diarrhea & vomiting…until I found this food. Now everyone is happy, no vomiting…stools are firmer..coats are shiny. And this one is for large breeds, it has all the extras for my big boys hips.
hcs11 (verified owner) –
Bought this food thinking it would help with my German Shepherd’s allergies (yeasty ears and paws) unfortunately she started scratching at her face/snout area and has herself bleeding. Won’t be repurchasing.
Nick1 (verified owner) –
First dog food we have had that suits our dog. He has a very sensitive stomach and this works really well.
Capecod4 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All 4 my dogs love this food !! They eat it right up and look in each other’s dishes after done with their own.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great product for our dog who tends to have issues with regular dog food. We have tried multiple food choices and this is the best fit.
Ravens1 (verified owner) –
My pup has been on this since she was a year, she is allergic to everything and this was the only food i could find for dogs with sensitivities and are large bread. She really likes it and she has stopped itching and licking her paws. I would definitely recommend it.
Adadog (verified owner) –
Our GSD loves this food. She graduated from the puppy version about a month ago. Eats it dry with no problems.
Lynne Leddy (verified owner) –
We switched to this brand because our dogs have chicken allergies and soft stools. This product helps somewhat.
Razr (verified owner) –
I’ve bought several brands Blue Buffalo, Maverick, SubZero and she didn’t like any of them. Dafni has chicken allergy so no chicken. Hard to find absolutely no chicken in dog food. The Puriena One she jumps in the air like a rain deer tanking off. Like Rudolph!!
Roxxy_Gunns (verified owner) –
My dogs seem to love the taste of this food. Too bad my wallet screams when I buy it…..
JB (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally a dog food that my dog loves and doesn’t wreak havoc on her digestive system. After switching her from the chicken based food, I tried the sensitive digestion line made with the salmon and this is working great for her/us. She loves it!
beckyd (verified owner) –
I feed my German Shepherd and Goldendoodle this food and they love it. It is great food, and it used to be pricy but still reasonable. I have been ordering 2 bags shipped to me every month, and when I went to re-order the price had gone up $10/bag practically overnight. Now it is way too expensive and I will have to find another brand or pet store all together.
cgjanz (verified owner) –
Switched my dog just over a month ago. She didn’t like her last food much, and has a sensitive stomach. She has no trouble eating this food, and once the adjustment phase was done, her stomach has tolerated it well. Plus it’s more affordable than her last food.
Rock (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog loves this food, and it’s bigger pieces, so it’s easier for my dog k Rock to chew, and he has been doing good with it.
Grundy (verified owner) –
It’s the regular food I buy so always satisfied. Not so happy about the availability as I had to drive to 2 stores out of town to get the last bags. Terrible convenience I bought the first bag using $5 of points out of desperation. Then the next day went on sale. I was able to adjust the price and get the $5 off from my points. Now the last few days literally less than a week you offer the Save20 code. So now I’m out $7 a bag, being $14 I could’ve saved. I was going to go to call customer service again and get a price adjustment but don’t have time, as it was effort enough explaining my situation last time and making sure I didn’t lose the $5 points. If there’s anything you could do that’d be great but just frustrating all around with running around and losing money.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs eat the salmon and rice large breed purina pro plan. Lately, I’ve had to add different treats with it for them to eat it. Not sure if they are just getting bored with it or do not want it anymore.
Total Eclispe (verified owner) –
My dog is allergic to wheat, which made his skin itchy and flaky. Also it was hard for him to put on weight. He’s been on Purina Pro Plan Sensitive and his coat is nice and shiny, itching and flaky skin are minimal now. He’s only been on it for 2 weeks now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good quality food that he enjoys. Little too expensive but I want my boy healthy. Recommended by my vet.
Mickie114 (verified owner) –
I bought this food at the recommendation of my veterinarian. Food is great, but extremely costly
Daisy Mae 2019 (verified owner) –
This is the only food that my dog will eat without anything added to it. You put it in the bowl and she gobbles it up. Her coat is so much softer than it used to be and her gut health is finally in check. Just a marvelous overall food. Highly recommended.
Zoe Mom (verified owner) –
You are the one store I found that carries this product.

My dog loves it . He dances around waiting for me to put it on the floor. He is a cane corso/pit bull cross it has made he fur softer
Animallove25 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the best dog food there is and the only dog food that my dog can eat. It is stomach sensitive, and all of the ingredients are listed plain and simple. There are no cons that I can think of to this food.
Vera63 (verified owner) –
My afghans have been able to tolerate food better since I was able to select salmon as choice.
Bunnysunshin (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After years of searching for food and going to so many nutritionists this is the only food my dog can actually stomach and without throwing up everywhere
Anonymous (verified owner) –
I got my rescue 4 years ago and immediately put her on a Royal Canin dog food. As a result, she put on some weight (as needed) and her coat became shiny. She looked nice and healthy. Unfortunately, she developed a poultry allergy; therefore, I switched to this Purina product. Her coat is no longer shiny, but very dull. I am now in the process of getting her off this food and do not recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs love it. They respond well with their skin issues. Think they might like it a bit smaller even though they are large breed.
Marsha D (verified owner) –
Not only does this food reduce my dog’s scratching but he loves the taste of it too. It is one of the most reasonably price top dog foods I have found.

Like the product, it is unfortunate that we have such trouble locating it each month. Have to go between 3 stores and sometimes no one has in stock.
TucksMom (verified owner) –
My dog is a large breed and he loves this food. He has multiple allergies and this food contains none of the known allergens. He likes the larger size of the kibble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is great for my dog because she has sensitive skin and stomach issues. It’s one of her favorites. We’ve been using it for four years. She’s going to be five in September.
3Amigosandme (verified owner) –
It took us some time to find a food that worked with our Rotties. They still have very soft stools, but they also do go a lot..
We do have a hard time finding the product, usually have to go to Duncan and then down to Victoria as for some reason it is hard to find. Hence, why I buy 2 bags when I do find it.
Vera (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just purchased this bag yesterday and I actually did not open it because the reviews on the sensitive skin stomach, salmon and rice formula overwhelming reviews about pancreatitis and other health issues and I thought wait a minute. I tried this food with my foster dog two months ago and he ended up in the emergency with pancreatitis bleeding just horrible and I thought it was because he ate something off the ground, but it was the same food that I had tried, but I didn’t realize it until I saw all these reviews hundreds and thousands of people all can’t have the sameproblems same medication that we’re giving and I’m just a really nervous and I’m going to take this back and now I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to give my Foster.

We have been using this food since weaning off of puppy formula, as our golden retriever was having loose bm’s. This has worked well and he enjoys the food. Good skin and coat and weight maintenance.
Marsha Norm (verified owner) –
My dog enjoys this food a lot. I switched to it when he started showing signs of allergies to his previous food. He is doing much better on this food and has been on it for well over a year now.

I got this for my 9 years old boxer because I got the Puppy large breed food sensitive skin and stomach, Salmons & Rice for my bernese mountain puppy because he was having problems with his sensitive stomach and and it really helped him.
TMadK91 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Golden had giardia as a puppy and never recovered normal stomach function. Purina PP Sensitive Skin and Stomach for Large Breeds has helped tremendously with her stomach issues. The only issue I have is the amount of dryfood powder that is in the bags. Not sure what can be done about that, but there is so much more than what is in the puppy version of the same food.
Choppers Mom (verified owner) –
I bought this a few weeks ago to see if it would help my shepherd with his sensitive stomach and allergies. It’s a bit early to tell but I think it could be helping. He seems to like it.
Shantell6666 (verified owner) –
My vet suggests Purina so both of my dogs are on Purina Pro Plan and they love it.
Mjules (verified owner) –
This is my second bag of PPP Large breed I have gotten because I just recently switched my pups from PPP large breed puppy. Both bags have been powdery! I just put it through a large strainer!! Other than that my pups love the food!
Rayme 1 (verified owner) –
I have 2 German Shepherd dogs and one of them is allergic to chicken. My dogs love this food and it is good for them. My only complaint is that petsupplycanada needs to keep this in stock because sometimes it’s not readily available.
Timtam (verified owner) –
My dog has allergies to chicken. Vet recommended this and it’s been good. Healthy, happy dog
Yeti (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog has sensitive tummy issues and this food has really helped. He has gastrointestinal problems with most meats- bacon, chicken, beef… so it’s been nice to have this food for him!
Elly S (verified owner) –
This dog food has been great for both my dog’s; not only do they enjoy the food but no more stomach issues
Dog Mom (verified owner) –
So far, stomach issues have improved, and she is not itching as much.
CC (verified owner) –
My giant breed dogs have been on this for over 3 years but they have not been tolerating it the past 2 months. Went to a vet to rule out any issues and after fecal tests, prescription mediation and a bland diet we discovered the newer packaged PPPSSS is the culprit. Sad to be back in the market for a new food for them.
3Amigosandme (verified owner) –
We have buying purine pro plan sensitive stomach large breed for the past 1 1/2years but this last bag purchased caused upset in my dog. He has allergies to chicken and all those symptoms appeared. I stopped feeding it to him and his tummy got better. All I could think was perhaps there was a mix up in something?
johnnyd_727 (verified owner) –
We have been feeding my dog this for a year without any digestive issues until recently when we got a bag a different shade than before and 1 lb lighter. Caused diarrhea after. I assume a formula change
Labdad836 (verified owner) –
Purchased this about a month ago because I suspect my labs have a slight chicken allergy. It seems to have helped some. It is a bit over priced considering you get 13 pounds less per large bag than the chicken or beef. It is also unfortunate that the beef formula that comes in a larger bag contains chicken by product leaving us with not much of an option but pay the higher price for this recipe.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 year-old male German Shepherd… Just has issues, he has constant ear infections which has kept him floppy eared so it’s a battle with moisture and has ALWAYS had itchy skin. Three months ago I switched both of mine onto Purina pro plan large breed sensitive skin and stomach and after the first couple weeks I saw a difference in his poop consistency, sorry but they were putting like. It’s going on 3 months and omg his poop is normal, his skin is not flaky, he’s not constantly chewing on himself or scratching at his ears because he is EAR INFECTION FREE for the first time in I don’t know when, not saying it’s because of this food…. it’s because of this food no ear infection and my other Shepherd she had elbow dysplasia surgery as a puppy so the glucosamine and omega in this is excellent for her joints too. I don’t know why I haven’t had them on this a long time ago. Smells kind of funny to me but they love it and believe me when I say they are picky.
247adg (verified owner) –
This food works really well for my Bernedoodle (5mo old) puppy. Every other food gives him diarrhea. I use the Salmon formula. My only complaint is the cost. It’s extremely expensive so I will try to wean him to another food after a few months.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have been searching for the right food for our Spinone Italiano to help solve his digestive issues, and not eating issues. We switched to the ProPlan Large Breed for sensitive stomachs about a month ago. Not only is he eating enthusiastically, but his stools are consistently much firmer. My husband and I have both noticed that his coat feels more smooth and thick, a nice side effect! We are very happy!

Good food, one HUGE complaint which I’ve brought to attention some time ago.. The amount of kibble dust is insane for the amount of money paid for this food. PLEASE find a
resolution for this!
