My daughter wanted this enclosure instead of another one that was the same price. I told her it had low reviews but she insisted on this one for her adult leopard gecko. It was very easy to setup and open. It seemed we were happy with it.
Within the first 3 days one of the latches on the doors broke. It now has a pipe cleaner to hold the door shut. I was looking at it this morning and the screen on top is coming apart. The top is plastic so you have to be careful when using heat bulbs outside the enclosure so it does not melt. I wish we had gone with the different brand.

I got this a mom to ago , for cohabitation with my crested geckos (one male small juvenile ) and one (larger crested gecko ) and it has worked really good , only thing is humidity, it’s harder to get it nice and humid consistently without having a fogger or constant spraying , maybe if this tank was taller in height I’d say it’s the best in the market right now for beginners .good tank overall would recommend

The bad reviews are accurate. The doors and locks are very weak in this tank. Barely touched the lock to open the door and it broke off and Iv only had it for 2 weeks. SMH. And no were not rough on it at all

This tanks seemed pretty cool but it had two long cracks one in each corner ..& the doors were a little tricky to get open but I loved how cool looking & roomy the tank was ..I actually ended up exchanging it out for another brand & bigger tank

It was a great terrarium for a while, but had some small issues that got more annoying over time. Every time that I’d open both doors, I have to lift the top of the terrarium to close the doors. Coconut husk would easly jam up the automatic locks to the doors. I know it has small holes in the way back for wires, but my Zoomed thermometer’s wire couldn’t reach far enough to stick to one of the doors without touching my lamps. Wish there was a hole big enough for a humidifier tube

The same day I brought this home, the locking pin broke. I had not even setup the tank. The mesh on the top seems like it won’t last either. I returned it sadly.

Zoo Med usually has pretty good quality items. While the concept, size, and price are excellent the quality on this is just lacking. Main issue is the top.. very lightweight and flimsy plastic. I purchased 2 of these from two different locations. Both have same issues. First, due to the lightweight plastic top frame it sags in middle interfering with the operation of the doors. Also, as most people sit light fixtures on the top there are two issues: mere weight of the fixtures again causes sagging. Second, the heat of the lamp further warps/bows the plastic center support (not that it supports much). Had Zoo Med either used heavier/stronger plastics or metal (like most brands) this all would be avoided. However, as I said, the price for the size, layout, etc is excellent.

We bought this tank at the end of March. The door latch broke within the first month of use, and I noticed today that the top is warping from the heat lamp. Because of it warping the top no longer stays flat. The tank stays between 100° and 110°.

I had two choices for this product. I got this one because it’s made in USA. The latch system to open and close is cheaply made. Everything is plastic. The cage button gets stuck on one side and the door lids are loud to close because they both hit the lid to clear and close. And the tongue and groove pieces of the front air vent shift high so the doors are hard to close.

There’s a distribution issue for this model. Tracked one down and drove 2hrs to get it after petsupplycanada employees refused to place on hold. Got it home to discover there silicone was messed everywhere and the vent was completely warped.

We already have three of these, so we knew we would be pleased to have another. Easy access to animals with the front door openings, easy cleanup, and plenty of room for our reptile babies to move and thrive.

I was skeptical of buying this tank because of the reviews. But it was a good deal so I gave it a shot. The only reason I gave it a 4 Star review is because the top screen is EXTREMELY flimsy. If you have a cat or another pet that may jump on top, it will surely fall through. I do have cats and had to add a stronger screen to the top.

Amazing tank, so easy to clean, fees and handle our Leopard Gecko Ash.

  23. Rated 4 out of 5

    Kim V (verified owner)

This is a good basic tank for our leopard gecko. It’s large enough for a starter tank and definitely meets our needs. The only thing that could be improved is the door latches. They are flimsy plastic and I’m worried the kids will accidentally break them.

  24. Rated 1 out of 5

    Shaggyprime (verified owner)

So I bought this for a new corn snake. I already have a thrive 40 gallon and I wanted to try this one out because the door locks look better quality. I was really disappointed when I pulled the cardboard off the top to reveal one of the locking tabs for the top screen was broken. That sucks but it happens. That’s not why I’m giving it a one star. The reason is because the wire screen is so thin! I have cats and they constantly jump on top of the screen mesh on my thrive tank but because the mesh is so thick I’m not worried about them going through. This one. I would see them going through immediately. It’s so thin and it’s only held by a thin plastic lip so even if they do go through, you wouldn’t be able to replace just the screen. It was also bent on a few areas. Could have been from whatever broke the tab but overall it just looks very cheap and flimsy.

In order to open and close the door you have to lift up the lid along with turning the bottom switch at the same time and pulling open the door. Will be returning since my gecko got out and I will say no more than the ending results were not good.

I bought this as a permanent home for our ball python and it’s awesome! It needed its own table but he can live in there forever and it even has an auto latch when you close the door!

    Eliza The Cat (verified owner)

I love it so far! The 25 gallon enclosure is really big and spacious in my opinion, perfect for my soon-to-be leopard gecko! The doors kinda stick a little and the hatches on the top tend to get a little stuck, but besides that, it’s really nice. I do suggest being gentle with the handles and latches since they are made of plastic.

I have tried a few different tanks for my various reptiles and this one was by far the worst. I was super excited about the design but when I brought it home I discovered one door was already broken.
I swapped it out for an identical replacement tank and the door again was not functioning correctly (somehow it was already broken out of the box in a different way). The folks who helped me exchange were fabulous but the tank is horrible. I will be swapping it out for a different brand tomorrow.

Everything about the enclosure was nice for the price. The only thing I don’t like is that the doors don’t shut unless you hold the plastic above it up. Also, there is a open gap between the doors.

  38. Rated 3 out of 5

    CBadham (verified owner)

I thought this was a great deal at 50% off normal price and I’ve never had issues with petsupplycanada purchases…this tank unfortunately looks like it should have been discounted due to issues versus discounted to bring in sales 🙁 there was black rubber or caulk that is melted into several areas of the glass doors, not sure if it was stacked or stored improperly but the doors don’t open correctly and there are several plastic pieces that are warped and don’t fit together as they should. This is too big and already in use so there is no returning it without a huge ordeal so I guess it’s ours and hopefully it lasts a while?

  39. Rated 4 out of 5

I bought the 40g tank to upgrade my Leopard Gecko from her 10g, as she has gotten too big for it.
    First off, huge. Just gigantic.
The multiple access points are nice, and despite some comments in other reviews, none of the hinges seem too shoddy, though the clips that allow the top screens to pivot are a bit dodgy to attach.
Now, there are some minor issues. There is a LOT of excess silicone that needed cleaning up. Better too much than too little, but still.
Second, the mesh on the top is a bit thin. A 5″ dome lamp makes it sag.
That said, if you can score this tank on sale, go for it, you won’t regret it!

Set up and used like my other terrarium, I have a bearded dragon, have had two for about 4 years and needed to down size bc was moving into a smaller apartment. I have a thrive front opening 40 gallon and love it, but the mechanisms for this one aren’t the same, and it seems to be made very cheap. The top bows down when you open it, meaning you have to lift the top slightly to close the doors. Easy enough, didn’t stop every day use. About three months after having it, I woke up to a glass side broken. Mind you I have bearded dragons, I seriously doubt they’d be able to break it themselves and trust me when I say I was no where near it when it cracked. I’m assuming maybe something to do with heat?? It’s been getting consistently below freezing where I live but my room has always stayed above 80 degrees F for my lizards.

I bought this in the summer when there was a sale, and it’ll work for my needs, but the quality is iffy. Part of the door’s latch was broken, which I didn’t notice until after I got the tank home. Additionally, the silicone sealing the corners is rather messy.

I needed an enclosure that opened in the front because of the height of the furniture where my corn snake hangs out. This fits the bill perfectly and at 40 gallons, it should be big enough for the snake when full grown.

It’s a good sturdy tank and works just fine for our ball python. Issue for us is that we have a very curious cat and he jumped on the top once and the screen popped out in the corner. Made it work for a couple months, but now the screen is completely busted in and the snake escaped. Need to find a sturdier top for us.

This is NOT the right size enclosure for a Bearded Dragon. Zoo med makes a decent enclosure of Tiny lizards, but if you are looking to buy this for a bearded dragon, Don’t. Bearded Dragons need a 120 gallon enclosure that is 4’x2’x2′. They start out small but these guys grow super fast & if kept in a small tank like this, they’ll develop health problems. Get a 120 right away & save the trouble & cost of vets!

    Not durable (verified owner)

I bought this today and literally 15 minutes after I took the top cardboard off my cat leaped on the top and went right through the mesh. I have bought other enclosures with a metal grate for the top that is MUCH more durable. I know it’s not designed for cats to climb, but for the money being spent a reinforced material for the top would be a much better option.

We bought this to upgrade our ball python from a 20-gallon long tank. It’s much easier to access the enclosure with the double doors. This thing is HEAVY, and it’s best you have a helper to move it and position it. I would not recommend this if you are hard on things or in a hurry because the framing is plastic, including where the doors mount. The lid frames are plastic and pretty flimsy, too so I would cover them with something sturdy if you don’t need the screens for lights or vents, or if you have cats. One of the doors on ours is a bit racked, and we need to lift up on the center of the lid frame for it to close. Also the doors only latch at the bottom. We are still working on regulating the temperature with so much glass, which is a limitation of any glass enclosure. If you are going to use a lamp or emitter then be sure to buy a lamp stand so you don’t need to rely on the screen for support. Overall we’re pleased, but we will see how it performs on the long haul.

If you’re going to have light fixtures on top of the screen and not on a hanging pole then you’ll break the opening handles with the weight. Don’t put anything on top of the tank! I learned that the hard way

Overall good tank like most have stated the doors will not close sometimes unless you lift the top. Which zoomed says they made it like that so if by chance the animal pops the bottom locks the top will stop it.. bad excuse if you ask me. But I just used some fishing line to tie it up so it doesn’t do that.

I bought this some weeks ago not sure how long exactly but less than 3 months. I agree with the other reviews as the door on my enclosure also has the issue of not correctly shutting unless I push down on it. That wasn’t a big problem until I woke up one day and there was a huge crack in the tank. The tank glass is far too thin and not at all structurally sound. I’m so glad I purchased this for less than the selling price since it is totally not worth it. Exo terra is expensive so I thought why not try the Zoomed version but after my horrible experience I will be paying the extra money to get the better quality Exo Terra tank everytime. And this zoomed tank will be going in the garbage because I am not going to pay to fix it to sell it for more than it’s worth.

I got this home set it up and then a few days later put a snake in it. It was only then that I realized the top was defective and didn’t fully lock (kind of an essential feature of a snake tank). Don’t get me wrong one side was perfect, the other side with any sight jiggling (aka what a snake would do) would allow it to open. Then after only opening the front doors once, the locking mechanism broke making such that the door opens easily. So now I have a shy snake over been trying to get comfortable in my house that I have to set up a new tank and move it. While I love the design features including a front opening door, I would strongly advise against this product. I got my 40 gallon on sale from $220 to $120, but even at $100 off its still a waste of money.

The overall quality of this product is pretty low in comparison to other brands but it still performs well as a terrarium so Im willing to look past a majority of those faults. However, the left door on my terrarium fell off with no warning. It’s as if the plastic peices just snapped in half but for no reason. I did not have the door open more than 90° from the closed position. Dont even know how to fix it as Zoo Med does not sell replacement door parts and I dont think petsupplycanada would accept it as a return…

I’ve had the 40 gallon for my adult ball python for half a year now and so far it’s amazing! I was wary of the reviews at first but was ready in case he escaped- anything better than the DIY I made for him. I was surprised and relieved to find out that it’s great! The doors and locks I’ve never had a problem with. The wired top helps me give him a heat lamp, and my ball python got cozy in there super quick! I will say it’s super heavy so please have another person help you carry it.

When I got it home, discovered dents in the wire mesh screen (hidden by the packaging), and the door on the right did not latch. Thankfully I was able to return for a refund, but it was a lot of effort to get it out of the store, into the car, into the house… and back again! This 40 gallon is heavy!

I bought this and when I got home and opened it, the hinge of the glass door was broken and falling off. I went back to replace it and got a new one. It’s an ok tank but kinda cheaply made in my opinion. The black framing is plastic and weak and breaks easily. The only convenience I like is the doors open from the front.

I bought this 3 weeks ago and I love it. So does my snake! This size is perfect!

3 large cracks in 3 different places right out of the packaging. Could not see with packaging on, only saw once removed. The previous one we bought had glue that looked light cracks… These are actually cracks that are deep enough to be sharp on your fingers when running your fingers over them.

I bought two for a couple of adult Leopard geckos that were given to me. The enclosure was nice and well constructed. Unfortunately I had to return both because of a defect with the silicone adhesive on these two particular terrariums that put off fumes from the product not curing properly. I’m confident that this doesn’t happen all the time and that it was just an unfortunate instance and sometimes things like that happen. But they are good enclosures and I would buy again.

I bought this and it is perfect. It’s large, the front opening is perfect for bearded dragons, then you could also remove the screen from the top on both sides. Honestly perfect.

After opening it up at home I saw the glass on the bottom was cracked and the top was warped in so the doors struggled to open and close. The mesh tops have fallen apart and for me to get replacements in Canada it is over $100 for two little mesh tops… One of the pins in the door has also broken from being used and there is no replacement. It is doing its job so far but with it falling apart, i don’t think it will last much longer especially if i cannot get replacement parts for it.

A great tank! I love that it’s a front opening enclosure so I don’t have to deal with messing with the lights on top of a hood. The tanks are sturdy and roomy for appropriate sized reptiles, and I have two of them.

I bought this for our new Honduran milk snake and she loves it. It is very secure and will give her a great place to grow into and then once she is large enough we will make the move to a larger home!! This is large enough to provide temp gradients and places for hides and clutter but not so large I loose her

I bought this a week ago and exchanged it the next day for a Thrive 40 gallon. This Zoo Med tank has that soft mesh screen, which wasn’t going to work for me, but not a big gripe. My main issues are: 1. The screen lids are not secure at all. It doesn’t take much pressure to knock them upwards out of place. Would never put a snake in this because it would definitely escape. 2. The frame for the glass doors is flimsy and lifts up quite a bit at the top. I would be worried about escapes but even more so about accidentally breaking it. And 3. The door catch isn’t very well made and the holes on the doors to put locks through are too thin. If this had been for my bearded dragon, I’d be worried about him eventually breaking it. He gets a little over zealous with his headbutts against the glass. Overall was disappointed with this purchase. So for about the same price (with treats membership) I got the Thrive desert kit and have 0 issues.

Having a 40g with a screen lid is miserable when it comes to cleaning feeding it really anything, plus the top access forces you into predator-like behavior which is very stressful to many reptiles! I specifically searched for a front opening tank for my ball python and I’m so glad this product exists. A bit pricey considering it’s just the tank, but still worth it for the fact that I’ll never have to reach over my tank again.

I bought this not even two months ago and I had my bearded dragons hammock hung it up and come home and seeing the side glass panel cracked. Would not recommend to buy just very upsetting

After surprising my daughter with this product for her birthday we were quite excited to set up the habitat. The only problem is we found out that all extras that came with the tank were already open or missing and it was obvious that this was a previous return. I paid full price for this and received second hand products that had to be thrown away. Very disappointing and quite frankly I feel ripped off. Don’t waste your money.

The hinges for the front doors to open are cheap plastic, and broke in just a few months. I got about another year or so of life out of the terrarium by duct-taping the doors back on, but eventually one of the front doors fell off and shattered, so now the entire thing is unusable.
