My dogs have been on this food for about 6 months now. We have tried so many different foods for my boxers scratching/licking and bald patches on his ears. Tried this one because it has sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes like their last food and after a couple of months, my boxer had stopped scratching incessantly and his hair has grown back on his ears. Was concerned about the peas/lentils, but they have added taurine to compensate, and the peas don’t seem to affect any on my dogs tummies. Very pleased with this food!

I am sad to see that the formula has been changed with no heads up on the front of the packaging. I asked at the store a few months ago about the change in packaging and price difference and was told it was the same food in a slightly smaller bag. I am disappointing to see lentils and peas added in to the ingredients. I am hesitant to change foods for my dogs in a global pandemic as he has had a LOT of digestive issues in the past and so I feel a bit stuck currently and hope this formula doesn’t impact the health of my dog. I hope these reviews encourage Simply Nourish to go back to their old formula. This is directly from the FDA website: “FDA is investigating a potential dietary link between canine dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and dogs eating certain pet foods containing legumes like peas or lentils, other legume seeds (pulses), or potatoes as main ingredients. I recently changed brands of dog kibble. My boy has a chicken allergy so I was giving him a lamb and rice one. He had got some hot spots after summer and I wasn’t sure what caused them. He also had be throwing up once in a while. I decided to try another protein so I picked up salmon and sweet potato. I figured I would try this for 3 to 4 months just to see how it goes for him. He’s just turned 2 and is a mixed breed of treeing Walker coonhound/black lab. So far it’s been good. No issues and isn’t itching as much. Hot spots went away. Been on this one for 3 months now. Not a fan of grain free but will probably switch to a skin and coat (oatmeal) or a white fish and brown rice in a few months just to try. He likes the taste but then again he’s food driven. I’m lucky he’s not fussy. I changed from Blue Buffalo lamb and rice to this one. I think I might stick to this one. It is more expensive for fish but it gives him a different protein to try. Will eventually try the lamb one with rice but will wait awhile just to see about the itchiness since it’s calmed down since he’s been in this specific one. I feel this is a much better brand. If you have been priced out of this food like so many others in recent years, I’d love to recommend Purina One + Skin and Coat Salmon. You get a 16.5 lb bag for $31.25 on Chewy. Even cheaper if you do auto ship. My girl likes the new food so much she’s actually eating around the old food and leaving it in the bowl on day 4 of the food transition plan.

We have two Yorkies, they are brothers. One has a problem with seizures, the other has extreme anxiety issues. We discovered by accident that a diet of dry Salmon and Sweet Potato dog food caused the 1st dog to stop having seizures, unfortunately the company quit making that product. We tried a lot of different dog foods but the seizures just got worse, and more frequent. Finally our vet suggested we put the little guy on barbiturates, which we were loath to do. Then we found Simply Nourish Limited Ingredient Salmon and Sweet potato, and the seizures stopped! After being on it for more than a year we notice the other dog’s anxiety has subsided significantly. I buy the 11 pound bag and feed my pup 2 cups a day. This should last me about 3 weeks plus a few days. We are on day 16 and….I think this bag is bad too. After the last few months I’ve been monitoring my dog closely because she has stomach issues and seems to get sick about two weeks into the bag, mind you I use a ‘vault’ storeage container-sealed. So if i were to go replace the bag she would be fine. I don’t think it’s right that I should have to buy several 4 lb bags and spend alot more than I need to. Simply nourish has not been producing the large breed version of this for over 5-6 weeks. The large breed has bigger kibbles designed for well… large or giant breeds. Furthermore the protein and fat content for large breed food varies a little. Simply nourish Simply hasn’t had this on petsupplycanada shelves for so long with no warning, no updates just Simply no food. Without warning I had to switch to this version of the food which upset my dogs tummy. My guess is the protein and fat content was too high. petsupplycanada in the entire lower mainland has no idea when or why there is no large breed kibble available for this flavor and as the exclusive seller of this brand I find that highly suspicious. My dogs stool has been unhealthy since the switch and after finding a stable kibble having to switch and now find another brand that works is incredibly frustrating . Probably won’t switch back to this brand again

I worked for petsupplycanada for 7yrs and this food is great especially for dogs that are allergic to chicken. Core Ocean formula is also great but tends to be more expensive. I have had so many people put their dogs on the salmon and sweet potato and seen a great improvement

We are transitioning our dog from his regular to the simply nourish salmon with sweet potato. As soon as it was in his bowl he devoured it. He loves this product. Niw that we know he loves the food we transitioned him to the senior kibble, same brand and same flavour. He refuses to at it. The senior food has larger kibble and he just has a few bites and refuses to eat the rest. Next bag we will definitely be going back to the adult simply nourish salmon and sweet potato.

Being a German Shepard owner its super important to provide real ingredients with no fillers that not only helps his digestive system (German Shepard Dogs have very sensitive stomachs) but help keep his coat nice and shiny! We have not had any issues with this brand or it’s ingredients as we are really conscious about what we give him.
