I manually turned it on/off every day for maybe a year. Now it’s plugged into an extension cord and I just use the switch on the cord. The switches on the light never failed but, just in case, use a timer or control center? If you have multiple lights you might as well use those anyway to make your life a little easier.

I was using a mini dome over my turtle’s basking area but like this has a little more clearance so I can use a stronger UVA/UVB light set up. I wish it was waterproof as basking lamp set ups for aquatic turtles are hard to come by. I do like that each light has its own switch.

I have had three of these in continuous service with CHEs initially and heat projectors more recently for almost two years without any issues. I like the fact that the form factor takes up less space than the standard dome lamp fixtures. I would like a version offered without switches since I use the lamps with a thermostat.

I, too, have had difficulties with the light switch being faulty. I purchased one that lasted just under a year. I purchased a second 1 that lasted about 4 months. The store was gracious enough to allow me to exchange it for a new light fixture. As of today, The light fixture switch is acting faulty again for the same reason it’s in, and it is < 3 months old.

We have a snake and a gecko and both go through bulbs and domes (domes way less often) this holds up to 150 watt bulbs which is perfect for my snake cage. She prefers to be colder at night and warm during the day. Even though we live at the beach, it does drop temps on occasion so I change her wattage according to the outside weather.
