DESCRIPTION

Replicate your pet reptile’s natural desert environment with the help of Thrive Natural Calcium
White Sand. This hermit crab sand substrate bedding is ideal for adult reptiles including Hermit Crabs, Bearded Dragons, Uromastyx, Leopard Geckos, Sand Boas, Greek Tortoises, and Tarantulas. It is perfect for digging and burrowing while being gentle on the skin. Only at PetSmart.

Features:

  • Great for digging and burrowing
  • Gentle on skin

    Includes: Natural Calcium Sand

    Environment: Indoors

Product Weight: 5 lb (2.7 kg)

  • Directions: Evenly spread 2 inches of sand on the floor of the terrarium. A 2-3-inch depth is recommended for large pets. Use a sand sifter to scoop waste daily. Completely replace the substrate monthly or as needed. If waste material is allowed to collect on the surface, your pet can develop skin and intestinal infections. A clean environment will help you protect the health of your pet.

Care Instructions: Discard waste daily. Completely replace the substrate monthly or as needed.

Caution: Sand substrate is only safe for adult reptiles. Not recommended for juvenile lizards under 6 inches (15 cm) in total length. While natural calcium sand can be ingested, you
should seek immediate veterinary care if your pet consumes large quantities of the substrate or if there is a change in food or water consumption. Excess consumption can cause intestinal impaction, which can be harmful. Observation and proper management will minimize potential problems.

Advice for Use: Refer to a pet-care guide to determine the proper substrate for your pet. Feeding your pet from a plate or bowl within the enclosure will reduce accidental substrate ingestion. Wash your hands after handling a pet or cleaning a habitat.

This can injure and kill small reptiles like leaped geckos. I’d rather use a paper towel as a floor for reptiles than this. 0 stars

DO NOT USE CALCIUM SAND! It causes impaction in reptiles and impaction is NOT good. It is a terrible product that you should never use for any reptile. I’m pretty sure it’s ok for hamsters. If you want more information on why calcium sand is bad for reptiles I recommend watching Leopard Gecko on YouTube.

This is an awful substrate for every reptile except for Kenyan Sand Boas, because if your lizard/snake eats this sand they cant digest it so it will impact them, and can kill your reptile. Please do not use this as a substrate.

Do NOT use calcium with hermit crabs. Hermit crabs need moist sand and this sand cannot be used moist. It hardens like cement and if it gets stuck on the crab or in it’s shell. It can kill them. It is also incredibly tiny– would need multiple bags to fill a tank to the proper depth. Very expensive to do. Again, DO NOT BUY THIS FOR HERMIT CRABS!

I actually use this sand for a sand bath in my hamster cage because there is no sand in their station, only dust. Dust is not good for hamsters, this is why I use sand. It is very good for all hamsters to have a sand bath in their enclosures. In fact, Robo Dwarf hamsters should have 1/3 of their cage sand.

Bought this when it was called: All Living Things–Calcium Sand. Returned it not even a week later. This product is to be used dry which makes it not sutible for hermit crabs. Hermit crabs need moist- sand castle consistancy sand. This product clumps up when it is wet then hardens. If this gets into your hermit crabs shell it is dangerous and can be fatal when it hardens and traps your crab in the shell. Do not buy.

Do not get this it’s very bad for reptiles period. It hardens up and can get into your hermit crabs or other reptiles gills or mouth and can make them not able to breath so I don’t recommend any type no matter how good you may think it is

This is pure calcium carbonate. When ingested by your animal it will neutralize their stomach acid. This will impact and KILL your animal.
