1. Place the muzzle over the dog’s nose. Be sure it is a comfortable fit. 2. Bringthe straps behind the dog’s head and ears and fasten the buckle. Pull the end of the strap to adjust and secure the fit, allowing 2 fingers to fit between the strap and the dog. Do not over tighten. 3. The strap should only need to be adjusted once. After the muzzle has been adjusted for proper fit, use the quick-release buckle to remove or put on the muzzle.
How to Measure:
Snout Length: Measure the distance from the base of your dog’s nose to the tip.
Snout Circumference:
Measure around the widest part of your dog’s nose just below the eyes. This measurement is the width of dog’s snout and is most important when fitting the muzzle appropriately.
Caution:
Not for tie out or restraint. Designed for temporary restraint only. Prolonged use or improperly fitted muzzles can affect a dog’s natural ability to cool itself through panting.

Muzzle trouble (verified owner) –
I started off with a large, which was WAY too big. Exchanged for a medium, the plastic muzzle “basket” was too large (straps as “small” as possible) and kept going into my dogs’ eyes, and everything was extremely loose. So, I exchanged again for a small. The size of the basket fit better, however he has a hairy, fat head/neck so the straps (extended to the biggest setting) is SO tight on his head! I don’t know what to do.
Cjnewk (verified owner) –
I bought the small and medium muzzles for two dogs that were meeting. The 7 year old husky had previously been aggressive to a 5 month old Catahoula mix. The Catahoula mix is now 1 year old and both dogs are about 55-60lbs. The Catahoula mix really needed the medium muzzle as the small was tight to the end of his nose. The muzzles allowed them to still drink water but not risk biting one another. We did not leave the dogs alone and were still very aware of how they were acting. We also still introduced them slowly and the correct way. We didn’t solely rely on the muzzles but they worked well.
Aiencke (verified owner) –
Recommended by veterinarian to prevent dog from licking bandage on foot and still allow her to drink. Fits lose and works well.
Liner87 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This plastic muzzle stayed on longer than the mesh muzzle did. It’s made with better materials but my dog still figured out how to get himself out of it within an hour or so of having it on. At this point I’m not sure there is a muzzle that he can’t get out of given enough time.
Raelee95 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got them as a training means for my dog who likes to nip at people, it’s just able very well made and works for my German shepherd. Ian able to loosen tight and adjust as I need to and very easy to do so also very easy to clean and hard for the dog to chew while wearing.
Honestlyfedtfup88 (verified owner) –
They should DEFINITELY have in between sizes. I have a pit mix and chose the size accordingly and the actual strap that goes around her head is way too short. And they don’t have that length listed anywhere. Either extend the length of the muzzles or have an in between size for larger dogs with short muzzles
Drdrdr (verified owner) –
I bought this because our puppy keeps tearing things apart. She has slowed down so we haven’t used it.
Sativam (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for my husky, she has never bitten or showed any aggression other then when I try to brush her at home. She hates it and will nip at me. We put this on when we groom her and it works great.

I bought this product to be on the safe side as Harley Quinn is getting older and we were going to be around young children that would be crawling all over her. The muzzle was not a good fit and was very awkward when she had it on. It was not very secure as well. We tried everything to make it tighter and more secure, but it did not help.
Anonymous (verified owner) –
This is amazing. My Shiba is such a sweet boy, but not when he goes to the vet. It started with him getting his nails cut and now he’s even afraid of his shots. I don’t think he will bite, but it’s impossible for them to do anything when he’s that agitated. This was perfect! He couldn’t get it off and he was able to get his shots.
JunieN (verified owner) –
I have two large dogs. A Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Presa Canario. The muzzle is poor quality. The straps get loose easily and the muzzles kept falling off. I went through two muzzle baskets before my presa chewed through the straps and the basket muzzle itself.
Egarci68 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It does help a lot, but it does look over exaggerated & it makes your dog look aggressive. We used it to trained our dog but mainly in the house since when we will walk with him people will get scared. I think its too thick maybe they should do it thinner. Overall we need see benefits from it; its just the look for us.
Yorkiecrew5 (verified owner) –
Bought this muzzle a month ago and it gets the job done, just wish they had a little smaller size. I have it for my silky/Yorkie and it’s a little too big. But like I said it gets the job done, he has grown use to it and hardly bothers him now.
Ressiegirl (verified owner) –
I bought this last week so I could take my baby to the vet
BrynnaT (verified owner) –
I like the basket shape and functionality, but the straps are made of a material that is not durable. The straps lasted less than 30 minutes because I have more than one dog and they work as a team.Someone needs to use a more durable material for pack situations. I would recommend straps made from firehose materials or webbing that includes wire.
Rotty rich (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Do not buy this muzzle. It’s non adjustable and easily falls of my dogs head. I got the extra large one for my Rottweiler and it’s too big for him. I cannot tight the bottom part so it becomes loose. This is very dangerous for me because my Rottweiler can be aggressive and possibly bite someone. I DO NOT TRUST THIS MUZZLE AT ALL. Do not buy this
Ant63 (verified owner) –
Bought to keep dog from chewing up things, she chewed the muzzle .used the extra head strap pulled right off
Chrissym85 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We originally got this to fit my moms pit and she wears a medium size. But to my surprise it didn’t fit her at all and the straps on it are kind of flimsy. So we can’t use it at all. I recommend measuring your dogs mouth first for any kind of muzzle and checking quality of said straps
Flookyjr (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this muzzle for y dog but it didn’t seem to fit tight, I needed a good muzzle because I groom my own dog and he’s very hard to try and cut and trim his claws they are very sharp he trys to bite and pull away everytime I get near his nails I needed a good stong muzzle but he had other ideas
ShugaButtBoy (verified owner) –
i bought this muzzle thinking it would fit RayD… it is too small. have to exchange it today.
Mojo 23 (verified owner) –
I tried the small size on my 18lb mix breed dog and it is too big. I need the extra small which you did not have.
wolfcrazy (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This basket muzzle is nicely made, it seems to work fine. The only thing I would make sure is the size is accurate to what is listed. We got the medium but it doesn’t fit our medium size dog. It would fit a bigger dog like a great dane. Otherwise, the product is well-made and very nice. I would recommend if the size was correct.
Dogmom253 (verified owner) –
It doesn’t completely limit my dogs ability to chew on himself which is why I bought it. And how it was advertised. It says that they can breath comfortably and pant but he still has the ability to chew on his body. Which is what I was trying to prevent as he has skin allergies he just won’t leave alone.
Knysbabygirl (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few weeks ago and tlit works very well. Made it easier to get the dog to and from the vet without any biting or mishaps. It also keeps her calmer and makes other dogs and people not as scared of her cause she is so big.
Nico (verified owner) –
I bought this because I got a new dog and she wants to eat my cat. Unfortunately, it is very easy for her to remove so if doesn’t actually help at all
Jerr22 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great help when you need to trim nails, groom or put eye or ear drops in and you dog is not too happy. Good to have on hand for dog parks as well if you are concerned about your dog being snippy with other dogs. Good quality
Diane (verified owner) –
Work s well fits perfectly. Is sturdy. The dog can breath easy.
Freebiepharm (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have tried fabric muzzles in the past, but they are difficult to keep on our pitbull. We use a muzzle to make clipping his nails easier and less stressful for us as our dog has a lot of anxiety around having his nails clipped. This basket muzzle is a very durable plastic that keeps him from biting and grabbing at us while we do his nails. The straps are easily adjustable and it also comes with foam strips to make it more comfortable for our fur baby. Once fitted, the quick release buckle makes it easy to put it on or remove it.
Crazydoglady74 (verified owner) –
Kept my dogue de bordeaux from eating the vet and his technician.
Tooterbug (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve always had a problem taking my dog to the vet until I got this. It’s was very easy to put on my dog. It fit just right. Now I don’t have to worry about my dog trying to bite the vet. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Nikalip10 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This muzzle is excellent. The materials used seem like they are excellent quality very durable. The muzzle itself is a perfect fit. It is not tight at all and def not something my dog could easily get out of. This is perfect for using at the groomers or vet if your dog does not like to be touched just as a precaution. I highly recommend. It does not leave any markings or indents on your animals face either
Victor T (verified owner) –
The large Muzzle has fit our German Shepard male very well and has helped keep him from nipping people. One thing I recommend Pet Smart to do is to keep all the sizes tied to a wall for demos so that people can measure the correct muzzle for their dogs without opening all the new boxes and trying them. This way you get a new in the box muzzle that has not been used. When we went there were 3 or 4 boxes open 2 of the same size. It really sucks that people have to open everything up because there is not a sample to try out and measure your pet properly. Product wise I would recommend this product to everyone that has a nipping or biting dog.
Bratzs (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this BASKET MUZZLE for my Labrador to try out and it works pretty good, very easy to put on and tighten up, it fits perfect. If i take him out somewhere new i will put it on him and he doesn’t mind.
MEPG (verified owner) –
I bought this per the veterinarian suggestion Very satisfied.
vsm24 (verified owner) –
This is easy for a bigger dog to get off. It worked for it’s main purpose but the dog was able to still get it off at the worse time possible. Maybe try one that also goes around the collar. Not just wraps around the top of their head.
Tashigirl1989 (verified owner) –
My 5 month old puppy chewed the front part of the muzzle while wearing it.
mnm14 (verified owner) –
I bought this less than two weeks ago for my dog who wears a muzzle in his kennel to prevent him from chewing on his door and within 5 minutes of wearing it he was able to get his teeth around the front section and chew through it!
Carol48 (verified owner) –
This is the best fitted muzzle I’ve been able to find for my dog. It’s lightweight and strong, she’s been able to get Baskerville off but not this muzzle which is exactly what I needed.
Elle (verified owner) –
Fits my Lab/Pittie perfectly! I got him a medium. Made so well. Sturdy. Gives me that extra assurance when I’m walking him. Size chart was perfect
Shsgxbsnshs (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog uses a muzzle when he gets his nails trimmed. We tried to use this muzzle and he broke it after two tries of putting it on, as he was fighting with his nail trimmings. I don’t think it’s worth the price and if it’s durable enough for a strong dog
Alumna71 (verified owner) –
Good investment my family is very happy with it because they know is dangerous walking the dog without this product
Jay121212 (verified owner) –
I bought this basket muzzle hoping for the best. My pup was able to get out of it(despite the secure fastening option) and he chewed through it. I have heard good things about top paw being a tough brand, but my little velociraptor defied the odds. I would like to say that my experience was an anomaly, but it was just too easy for him to do.
HardCandi (verified owner) –
I adopted a large dog. With a bite history. He wears a muzzle in public for my peace of mind…having said that, I suspected that he was wearing it was a courtesy because I asked him to-and the other day after our hike, we got in the car, and he’d slipped it off. It does give me a precious extra few seconds to react if something happens, which is the main reason for purchasing it.
He doesn’t seem to mind wearing it since he can still do all his dog things except eat weird things off the ground.
My one complaint is that the buckle is on the side and I have to be super careful not to catch his floppy ear in it-a middle buckle would have been more convenient.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my Top Paw adjustable basket muzzle. It has helped me train my puppy to not chew. I also use it when I bathe and brush my puppy to prevent nipping. She has a tendency to nip when I wash and brush her hind legs. This muzzle is soft, comfortable, and helps with training your dog to not bite, lick, chew, or pick up things they are not supposed to pick up. The muzzle is easy to use and easy to take off. It is easy to adjust if needed. I highly recommend Top Paw basket muzzle. It is a must have item when training.
Happyindallas1218 (verified owner) –
I need to add the muzzle to our training equipment to make safer for my dog.
Jackie27yz2 (verified owner) –
I bought this because my dog bites everyone and leaves marks to the point where everyone has to stay a distance. I thought it would be perfect so we can send time together. The quality of the product feels good, unfortunately, my dog, despite having it secured on tightly, gets it off within 15 seconds everytime so I can’t rely on this product to protect myself or other dogs against biting.
RobinsohnRottweilers (verified owner) –
Not sure what the complaints are about. A little big is better than a little small. The Large fits my 90lb Rottie just fine. The straps are simple slide adjustments. There’s one for the neck, and one for the forehead.
Anonymous (verified owner) –
Easy to Put On, but my Dog was able to Get Out of It too.
turtle4photo (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This adjustable muzzle works as expected. Fairly easy to take on and off. It does not rub and cause irritation. Dogs can breathe freely in them. The product is durable and easy to clean. Pup has not been able to remove it
TexasLadyhawk3 (verified owner) –
I have a mini Rat Terrier & this muzzle, size XS was too large. The padding to help it fit better would not stick & it was too close to his eyes & coming off.
mom2thunder (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The top paw adjustable muzzle is great. My dog is a medium size dog and this fit perfectly. Our girl sometimes does not do good at the vet and this was a great item to have so the vet can stay safe. 4 paws up!!

Sadly my 10 yo 93 lb. Lab/Pit mix started having issues at the vet and after taking her to 3 different places she still isn’t vaccinated. I was told to get her use to a muzzle and sent home with one and muzzle training handout. The muzzle that the vet sent home with her didn’t work for the muzzle training as it is a tight fit and too long with too small of slots for treats. I bought a large Top Paw muzzle and worked with her one day but realized that the muzzle was too close to her eyes thus not going to work for her. I returned it and got her the medium muzzle. This one fits nicely on her nose but I can barely fasten it on her. I guess I will have to use this one as I can’t find any online that tell what neck size the muzzles fit. If only the strap was an inch or two longer it would be perfect. So I can’t give this 5 stars due to fit.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this to use instead of the cloth muzzle. This worked and fit so much better. The basket is large enough to allow my dog to still get a drink and pant. I use this mainly for vet visits. The adjustability works great for customization for my dog, who is a husky. He can’t slip it or paw it off. Overall I’m very happy with this.

Bought this for my large dog ..we just got another puppy and didn’t want my larger dog to bite him or pick him up ..it’s working for what we need ..only issue is it is causing chin acne ..

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always struggled to muzzle my pooch. She has problems and this finally fixed it! It’s easy to put on. Well-made, and very cost effective. It even seems to give my dog a bit of a comfort level. This wasn’t complicated to use. I recommend it to anybody.
Rubysuby (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This item itself is good quality and fits well on my medium sized heeler. She spent most of her time fighting it and wiping her face on evrything, but I think it is more of a reflection on her than the muzzle.
Lokixyz (verified owner) –
We have a highly reactive mixed breed pup. We’ve been using the muzzle for a couple of weeks and have noticed a difference. He seems to be slightly less reactive when wearing it. I think he feel like it gives him more space, and people are less likely to get up in his face when he’s wearing it. All in all a good purchase.
Feed Iams (verified owner) –
I bought this for vet visit. I own a lab hound mix and she is extremely Uneasy, with being at the vet, she’s not to the point where she needs to be sedated but I was told by my trainer it will be best to have her muzzled just to be safe. The Muzzle was easy to adjust for size. There’s an opening on the top and bottom for the comfort of the dog and seems pretty sturdy!
Marbro (verified owner) –
Buyer beware. I thought this muzzle was anti bite but boy was i wrong. My dogs got into a fight and this mask did nothing to stop them from biting each other. My dog almost lost her ear. 1300$ vet bill. I would never buy this product again and would not recommend it to anyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for my super sweet boy that has problems with other dogs after an incident where he was deemed a dangerous dog we wanted to try to find a muzzle my dog didn’t fight to get on and this one was it. We used the tips inside the box by putting it in our hand with a treat and taking it on and off till he was comfortable and now everytime we pick it up with his collar he knows it’s time to go outside. He fought it for a bit in the beginning trying to take it off while outside now he just leaves it.
MomNoonan (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with this muzzle. It has saved me from numerous bites from our dog who has recently started biting and has always shredded everything bf to pieces. Very sturdy, good quality, he is unable to take it off although is constantly trying. He did manage at first but I guess it was not on as tight event though it was on the last hole, I made a few more holes and it fits perfectly now
Buttercup1380 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have an extremely anxious pup who gets nippy whenever you try to touch his paws to cut his nails. He has always been able to bust out of a regular muzzle in seconds so this is great. It leaves him enough room and openness that he does not immediately freak out when you put it on and I’m able to do more with him without fear of getting bit. Highly recommend!!
Precious2 (verified owner) –
I bought it a month ago but have not used it very much because she takes it off too easily but peace that goes up the nose doesn’t stay on well and she knocks it off
Adria101 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This top paw basket mussel is top paw definitely it’s very sturdy made of strong material so it will definitely hold very well. It has an adjustable strap to adjust to any size. It definitely runs a little big if you ask me but still adjustable so not a big problem. I love the strong material the basket around the snout is made of would definitely recommend if in the market for a mussel.

I brought one for my dog and it works great. Went back to buy another way for my other dog and was told they no longer are available? Not happy about that.
Super Muzzle (verified owner) –
This is a great muzzle. My dog was able to get other muzzles off. This muzzle is strong andstays on well. My dog was able to smell everything on her walk. The muzzle kept her fromeating things on the walk…like acorns which can make a dog sick & whole pecan shells.
Lucy (verified owner) –
Bought this for my foster dog. 2 year old intact female. Lab mix. She was dog scared and wanted this to help interduce to my daughters 6 mo, male Shepard mix. Worked great the first day. She could not get it off. She tried and tried for a good 30 mins. Helped wear her out as well. It does not need to be tight, BUT snug. It was roomy and she was able to drink water. Took it off and she behaved and played well.
AO123 (verified owner) –
Dog managed to get it off and chew it to pieces within the short time she had it on.
Nataliemae (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This muzzle is really simple to put on my dog. Some are actually pretty difficult to figure out but this one is pretty easy! I like how my dog still has the ability to drink water if she needs to. It’s really durable and now I feel better with taking her to the park or on walks
Dee_Mee (verified owner) –
These are FAR more comfortable than the mesh and Velcro muzzles (so say the dogs). But the difference between a small, good for my 45-pound dog (?!) and a medium, too big for my 55-pound dog, both lab mixes is absurd. Need more sizes in between! For the larger dog, the small is terribly tight on her cheeks. And there is no adjustment! For the smaller dog, I had to cut the chin straps! The muzzle was almost choking her. Also no adjustment here, either. Note the cut chin webbing on the small muzzle in the top view pic.
Jenny_L (verified owner) –
I have bought two of these exact muzzles within 1 months time frame. My dog was able to chew the strap that goes across his forehead off of both. The muzzle fits too loosely on the front of the face, and the buckle to the strap comes undone too easily. For that reason, I am rating it at 3 stars.
Brebre333 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog unfortunately is not dog friendly and as he has aged it has become worse. The only time I need to use a muzzle is to go to the vet for check-ups. This muzzle did its job and protected both my dog and the other dogs. It stayed on even when he tried to scratch it off. He wasn’t a fan, but it worked.
