DESCRIPTION

The PowerSun UV is a high intensity source of UVB, UVA, heat and visible light. Because the PowerSun UV is a self-ballasted bulb it can be used in any ceramic socket that is rated to handle the wattage. The PowerSun UV has nickel-plated threads to ensure that it will not corrode in humid reptile habitats. These lamps project usable UVB radiation greater distances (up to 6 feet) than conventional fluorescent tubes. This makes them ideal for large enclosures and reptiles with high UV demands. The PowerSun UV has all of the benefits of ReptiSun bulbs with the added benefit of increased intensity, heat and a manufacturer’s one year guarantee.

I buy these bulbs for our lizard tanks and they last a long time. Overall a good product for the price.

1 year Guarantee is a joke! Lasted not even a whole 5 days!! for that much money that is basically stealing from me. NEVER AGAIN

Puts out dangerous amounts of UVB for bearded dragons. Returning and buying regular T5 hood as should you

I’ve tried other mercury vapor bulbs for my Russian Tortoise; but I have to say that this one is the best. All the other brands I’ve tried have gotten “weak” after two months (a good bulb is supposed to last 5-6months before you should replace it), but not this one! It lasts longer than all of them and I’ve never had any issues with these blowing out.
Don’t be scared by the price, you get what you pay for, which in this case is an excellent product!

Nothing but issues with this lamp.
I bought the done for it and it’s been very unreliable. Few times it will flicker slightly.
Or not work at all. I have troubleshooter with no results.
Also 100watt isn’t enough for a proper size enclosure.
I would not recommend this product if you have a tiny tank or enclosure. Also always have back up UVB and heat. I will return to store. And order a t5 fixture instead.

This is my SECOND bulb in 2 DAYS. Each only worked for a couple of hours! How does a $50+ bulb such low quality? Unbelievable. Now my bearded dragon is cold and I have to wait till tomorrow and go back to the store AGAIN.

I’ve used PowerSun bulbs for a decade. While I generally like the product, petsupplycanada is being duped by customers returning used items under the guise of real return. This is frustrating and expensive for the consumer and puts the animal at risk. I would like to the company manage the inventory better and PowerSun put an indicator on the bulb (wax maybe) to show when a product has been used.

I’ve bought 3 of these bulbs in the past week trying to get one to work and assuming the last one didn’t because of something I did.. no! I’ve changed the lamp I put it in, I’ve plugged it in to a different outlet and the light bulb still stops working after a day or two.

I’ve gone through atleast 10 light bulbs in the last 6 months. I changed my lamps out to see if that was the problem and it didn’t help. They don’t last more than 2 weeks. Which isn’t good considering my pet needs it to live..

I was excited to try this new technology out for my new beardie and it seemed ideal to just have 3 in one bulb so i bought it. I used a stand and a deep dome along with it, so that i wouldn’t have to worry about it blowing out. I waited well over 15 minutes and even the hue of the bulb changed (which “supposedly” indicates that it is ready). It wouldn’t go past 80 degrees and I know for a fact that it was the bulb because I tried three different thermometers. I have a 40 gallon tank so that bulb should have done better than that, especially if it’s for heat/uv. I was so disappointed. I had to change my entire setup. Just stick to the long florescent bulbs for uv and a basking light for heat dude 🙁 Honestly it shouldn’t be a huge price difference. I rather pay for 2 lights that I know will work better, than a faulty bulb that I hear blows out in like 3 months while using a stand/clamp or not.

We will have to return this bulb. I don’t know if it was just old or what but it is not working properly.

I’ve had this bulb for 2 weeks now and it has made a huge difference in my baby dragon Sparrow that I rescued from a local pet store. He just handed her to me and told me to keep her. She was barely alive and way smaller than her tank mates that we’re killing her. I assume they’re from the same clutch. But she couldn’t even keep her head up or her eyes open! I had to feed her baby food through a syringe and (I am planning on giving to my best friend when she gets around 6 inches.) there were bite marks everywhere on her and she lost half of her tail! That’s why she had a broken arm that is now healed completely. You can see the cast in the left picture of her when she was only 2 weeks old. She was also very grey not in shed. But now thanks to this bulb she actually looks like a citrus! She’s so pretty now at 2 months old. I had no problem installing the bulb either. I also bought the zoomed lamp stand with this so I wouldn’t risk the bulb going out from the vibrations or from over heating or her getting too hot. It’s worth the extra money! I used to buy my bulbs separtely because it was cheaper too. But I really do wish I would’ve started all my dragons on this bulb in the first place.

UVB’s are a must have for dragon owners just like me well soon to be…. anyway lizards like drangons need them for mucles and bones in your lizards get this or one like it.

The people who wrote bad reviews for the bulb burning out quickly obviously did not fill out the warranty certificate that guarantees the bulb to work for a full year…that’s right, if it burns out within a year of purchase they will replace the bulb for free! These are currently (imo) the best uva/uvb combo bulbs on the market, very reliable and emit plenty of uvb even for large reptiles such as tegus. No risk of mbd with these bulbs and proper diet as they are very strong. Please take the time to read the instructions if you are not familiar with uvb lighting, the instructions included were very helpful. These are nice because you can have 1 deep dome lamp instead of 2 separate lamps, and I honestly think going with a $60 bulb once a year is cheaper than replacing the cheap ones all the time. I’ll never buy the cheap ones again.

I’m the relatively new owner of a pink-tongued skink and needed a lamp that would keep him and his terrarium warm without getting too hot. In a 20-to-30-gallon vertical tank, the 100-watt bulb does an excellent job of keeping the place warm and my little buddy healthy.

Lizards MUST have UVA and UVB! Their bones need both to stay strong. I wish petsupplycanada sold them in the stores. This bulb may seem expensive but it lasts a really long time!! It is cheaper than vet bills and happier than an ill or dead lizard.

I bought this product for my Russian Tortoise because I heard that this bulb provides heat and UVB (While other bulbs provide only one) which is important for a healthy reptile. The price is a bit overwhelming at first, but once you consider that the price of buying the heat bulb and UVB bulb seperatley comes close to the price of this bulb, it’s not too much of a price difference. Although this bulb flickers a bit, it still works extremely well. And it lasts a long time, too. I’ve had it for about 8 months and it’s still going strong.

I have used this UVB Lightbulb before and it does heat up my 36x24x18 terrarium quite well to a toasty 90-95 degrees F. Although I find that it only lasts for about 5-6 months and cost quite a lot.

I have had a bearded dragon, Sunny, for five years and have always used this bulb. It is everything you need in a light fixture in 1 bulb: UVA,UVB, heat, and of course light. It is worth the extra money and it keeps your beardie happy. The only thing is it can be a little finicky at times, it may randomly shut off shortly after you turn it on but usually waiting a few minutes and turning it back on or just flicking it will turn it back on. It only happens once in a while and is a great product.

4 have burned out in a month. Last about 1-2 days. The one I replaced lasted 3-4 years!!! At that price I expect it to last at least 1 year, as warranty states.

Yes, this bulb IS expensive but it lasts forever! I bought mine last June and it died today(the end of August). So it lasted over a year. And my turtle loves it!

I bought two of these lights for my beardie on 1/18/22. I installed the first light the evening of the 18th. When I got home from work on the 19th, I found out that my beardie had been cold all day, due to the bulb blowing while I was gone. I installed the second light the evening of the 19th, and returned the first bulb today (1/20). I just got back home, and realized the SECOND light has blown!! Will be returning it tomorrow, and NEVER buying these lights again.

I use this for my baby bearded dragon. i have a 36x18x18 exo terra and this bulb heats up the hot side to 103 degrees. My bearded dragon has not had any problems with using this bulb. It has a safety automatic shut off built inside the bulb that will shut its self off if it overheats- which means the fire risk are much lower than using a standard basking bulb. i’ve never once had it shut off on me. i have it on a timer and it’s holding up very well. UVB/UVA/HEAT/LIGHT all in one single bulb, saves a lot of clutter! 🙂 *Use this with a deep dome*

I bought this about a week ago and keep it on a 12/12 (hour) timer. For some of you that these stopped working, I had to drill extra holes in the top of my light housing to let more heat out through the top, I’ll provide a picture to show, I’m thinking some of you that are having issues with these bulbs are actually just overheating and the bulb is doing exactly what it’s supposed to do which is shut off after a certain temperature. You need to let the bulb cool down for at least 15 minutes sometimes even more, take bulb out of the socket and gently screw it back in, it should turn back on with enough time sitting.

I bought my fisrt bulb in Aptil of 2009 it went out in July of the same year. petsupplycanada was great and exchanged it. That one went out 2 months later and they exchanged that one. Now well after the three months and welll below the maximum hour listed for this bulb it burned out again. When they work they are great but then they burn out and you are stuck going to buy a new one.
