I baught this tank about 4-5 months ago I have a turtle named scuba Steve and he is currently a little bigger than a quarter. The tank is great size for him now but when he grows bigger I’m going to upgrade to a 40 gallon next. The supplies it comes with are good except the filter isn’t doing very well and I’d recommend getting a better one also the floating dock it comes with isn’t super great I recommend buying your own like I did I baught a rock platform that’s flat at the top and it works great! Overall it is a good starter tank and I would recommend for turtles under 4 inches!

Filter isn’t the best but the best so I had to buy one separately. Remember that river rocks are not good for soft shell turtles!
Overall a good start but you still need to buy some things additionally.

I bought this yesterday, while the quality seemed ok the biggest problem is it isn’t big enough for an actual turtle. After talking with multiple pet shops there are very few turtles could use this as a forever home, one of which is 1300 bucks. I will take partial credit as I didn’t research pet turtles prior to the purchase, however this shouldn’t be advertised as it is.

Have had this set up for over a month for my grandsons turtle. Has everything you need to get started. I’ve seen complaints about the filter but I’ve had no issues. Crystal clear.
Bought a heater and some plants. He loves it.

For how much I spent on this kit everything should have worked. Everything else was great expect the pump. The tank gets dirty within 2-3 days. If you buy this kit, I would recommend that you would have to upgrade your pump.

I bought this about 2 months ago and it has every thing you need to start your habitat for your turtle, I do recommend getting a new filter though because the one included doesnt seem to clean very well I purchased the Tetrafauna 90g filter from petsupplycanada as well and my water is crystal clear. 🙂

Just bought this and took us forever to get set up, then after less than 24 hours, we realize that the tank is leaking. I believe the tank is built for a reptile not to hold water. Very frustrating!

I bought this product because my son won a turtle at the fair. The tank works fine, came with everything we needed (which was great). The only thing is, the items that came in aren’t the greatest. The filter doesn’t keep the tank clean at all. This package would have probably been a better set up for a lizard or dry land reptile. Not an aquatic turtle.

It is a great kit for turtles. The only issue during set up is that one accessory did not have the suction cups which were needed to anchor one piece of the exhibit. Everything else is as advertised and it works well.

I bought this aquarium because I was rescuing a turtle that was living in a dish pan/bucket. Poor thing had no heat, no sun bathing light, and no place to move. I bought this set to be ready to bring him home. I wish I had the option to buy the same set with a 40 galling tank, but 20 was good to start with. I read the reviews, and it said we needed a light stand, so I purchased that as well, plus the food he was already eaiting and a fake vine to add some greenery. It is perfect. It comes with food (which i don’t use because he is already eating Fluker’s turtle food), red shrimp (which I do give him as a little extra treat). It came with a filter, but reviews said it was not good, so I bought a better quality filter and use that. When I went to pick up my order, I bought sludge destroyer, a moss ball, and a few other things for my new friend, but if I had to purchase all these items by themselves I would have spent a fortune! This set literally has everything you need to start and I got it during the black Friday sale so it was half off. I am thankful for the sale because otherwise it is pricey but I understand why.

Aquatic turtles (we have a yellow belly slider) need MUCH MORE room than this. We bought the 40 gallon version of this and it lasted 3 weeks. The filter is NOT powerful enough. Turtles need 10 gallons per inch of shell to swim. A 20 gallon will not accommodate that. We had to upgrade to a 75 gallon tank, with a heater, new canister filter and a new basking dock. The only things we kept from the kit was the light and the water conditioner. Do yourself and your turtle a favor and buy the things you’ll need separately. The upfront cost is more, but I wish we would have bought everything we have now at the beginning and not spent the money on a kit. The lid from the tank was also very flimsy screen, like screen door screen. Turtles are such wonderful pets when they are happy and well cared for!

As a first time turtle-owner, this kit seemed perfect. However, right off the bat there were some issues. First, the basking spot light did not work at all. Then, the filter stopped working! I am grateful to have the other features, but am not happy about the fact that my turtle has to wait even longer to bask. Also, I am nervous about him swimming in the filterless water!

It comes with a lot! This is impressive, but unfortunately the quality of everything just was not up to par with what we need. The filter doesn’t seem to do anything but move water. Our turtle is very inactive and we are told by the vet that it’s because the water isn’t warm enough and should be nearly 100 degrees for a trutle this small. The lighting isn’t enough either I was told it should span the length is the tank. We have bought the equipment to satisfy these needs and are hopeful that it will make him a happier healthier little guy

This is much too small of a set up for a turtle. I wish we had known that ahead of time. We normally do a lot of research but decided to just pick up from a store instead. We have since learned (from the pet smart website and others) that turtles need much larger tank than 20 gallons. As well, the filter definitely not strong enough to take care of filtrating a turtle.

I bought this as a secondary tank for my RES turtles (I’m a middle school teacher so I bring them home over breaks). It’s fine, but as other reviewers have said, the filter is not powerful enough. This kit also does not include a heater and the thermometer in the kit is not accurate at all. I would highly recommend making an itemized list and price matching the items in store to get everything you would truly need.

I’ve only had my tank a little bit and it’s already getting really cloudy and I cleaned it and nothing happened and it didn’t come with a water heater it’s not required for you to have one but it better to have one but overall great tank

I bought my fist kit a few years back. I noticed the caulking on the inside tank coming off. I didnt think anything of until I came home from work and it leaked out and ruined my furniture I had the tank on. I thougt maybe just a bad tank. I purchased another one at petsupplycanada again. Within 1 year the same thing happened. The caulk started coming up it leaked again. That day my turtle passed a 2 inch long piece if caulk. Thanfully it didnt kill him. I will never use your dangerous product again. I work at a pet food and supplies store and will never rocommend anything by zoo med.

The kit is a great idea. I have two baby red eared sliders and I got this tank for a temporary place for them to be. Two things I have a problem with, it does not come with a stand for the basking/heat lamp, you have to buy it separately. And the filter is not great. It clogs very easily and seems like it’s just circulating the water. I have to rinse it every day so that the water doesn’t get cloudy. But overall it’s a great starter kit.
