petsmart shouldn’t still be selling these. they don’t give your reptile the type of heat they need, and they are huge burn risks. these are the absolute worst type of heaters you could ever use for your animals. it’s proof that they don’t actually care about the wellbeing of animals and just wanna sell stuff to people

I’ve used all three sizes of these heat stones, depending on how cold the house is. There is no way to change the temp, you just plug it in. I use an IR reader to check the surface temp. I have a spot lamp or a 100 watt incandescent bulb over it to make it hotter. My Sudan plated lizard loves it! He moves on and off it, and even sleeps under it, depending on his heat needs. In the wild, lizards go onto stone at night or early morning to warm up. Rock holds the heat.

I’ve had this for over 6 months now with out a problem. I put some sand over top of it & it’s his favorite spot. Only problem is the cord isn’t very long for a high tank on a stand.

This gets very warm. I found it to hot to put my hand on, so I put 2 mens socks over it. That keeps the dinosaur insulated from contacting the surface.
