3 stages does keep the tank clean but stopped working in one week

Do not use for nothing over 10 gallons. I have a little 5 gallon tank with 2 baby soft back turtles. It clear my tank in 30 minutes after putting new sand in the tank

When I bought the product it was missing suction cups and filter pellets

I bought this for my 10 gallon aquarium and it is very weak. The plastic slits get clogged very easily, and the filter is very difficult to clean. I would not recommend this filter.

Good til 2 days n started screaming n leaking from top of it spraying water everywhere even out of tank

This filter was effective while it lasted. I still had to change the water every 3-4 days. And then, having only used it for less than a month, the motor died.

I like to have an extra one on hand in case I can’t get the existing one as clean as I like.

I bought this to replace a filter that finally gave up the ghost unexpectedly. I didn’t have time to really do much research or shop around and I was very limited with what shops had in stock at the time for submersible filters. I trusted the Zoo Med name because I generally love their products. But this filter was a major let down. I put it in my 10 gallon turtle tank and it just cant keep up. The pump is strong but the slits to allow water and wast in are too small for anything but the smallest particles. Its difficult to clean when the slits get clogged. plus there is no room for media at all. Two tiny sponges is all it has. I cant imagine this filter on any tank larger than a 5 gallon, and that might even be pushing it. This might work for a very small fish tank but stay clear if you want to house turtles, hatching or not this filter wont keep up with a turtle.

The ad copy and the product packaging led my daughter to believe this was a suitable filter for her pet turtle. It’s not.

I have a big and a med turtle so it keeps the water clean till feeding time. I have to wash the filter several times before the water goes back to being a little cleaner. My tank is a 10gal for now.

I bought this filter about a month ago, and it’s been working pretty well. I have a baby RES turtle in a 10 gal tank, which is perfect if you go by the rule of thumb for a filter to be rated for 2-3x the capacity of your tank. It’s nice and quiet, not the strongest filter in the world but it does the job decently! Especially when combined with proper tank cleaning and maintenance. The inexpensiveness and small size are big pluses. I wouldn’t use it for multiple turts or a bigger tank, but for a hatchling/small tank it’s perfect. Come to think of it, you could always put two of them in for a bigger turtle or tank! Overall quite happy with the purchase.

This filter was ok but it broke after 2 months, but after all its been a good filter and worked for my turtle. Sometimes it wouldn’t filter the right way still leaving stuff the the bottom of her tank, but over all it work for her and filtered most of it. I would recommend this for a smaller take like 5 gallons. I think its water proof because the picture of it was underwater, but im not sure because it didn’t come with instructions.

great filter keeps the water clear & runs quieter that reprifilter & whisper it has been working great for almost 2 years now. just clean the filter once a month and replace the charcoal ever 3 months. my only complaint is that after several months it started making a noise intermittently every few minutes. when it dies this it shoots air bubbles out the jet. this maybe because a little bit of the filter is not submerged. also the adjustment for the flow power became stuck and i don’t want to break it by forcing it.

I bought this for my red clawed crab tank because the tank water is only a few inches and it works amazing it’s quiet too! But I wouldn’t imagine it being too effective for a turtle

i use this filter for my fish but it does great in my 5 and 10 gallon, even planning on using it in a 20 gallon. i like that it’s submersible, easy to clean, and it’s been running for years.

I bought this for a 20 gal starter turtle tank. Worked about a month started shorting out. A day later completely stopped working after making a buzzing noise like it was fixing to explode.
