I have been using the Authority Large Breed dog food for years. I have an English Mastiff and a Great Dane. The Mastiff in particular is susceptible to some serious gas issues with to much human food or other dog foods. Once I got her on the Authority Brand she has had no issues.

I have purchased this brand of food for years now. My 2 dogs always love it and literally cannot eat it fast enough. Until recently that is, After my most recent purchase June 17th they ALMOST refuse to eat it. The food will sit in their bowls anywhere from 1/2 a day to 2 days. I imagine that they do not want to eat it until they are so hungry that they must.
It is quite frustrating that as the cost of the food increases, the quality of the food has decreased. Either that or I happened to get a bad batch of food. Regardless, my dogs are not happy and have spent the past week laying around significantly more than usual.

It is hard to figure out if the kibble contains everything the dogs need. My dogs eat it, can’t buy the kibble with dried “meat” (looks like ground up rawhide) because my 1 dog used her nose to push all the kibble on the floor to get the “meat’ and snack on the kibble later. None of the vets, allergy vet or specialty vet know who makes it or had any complaints.

We have been feeding our shelter adopted golden retreiver/lab/shepherd mix dog this food for 13 years. Started with the puppy type and moved to adult formula. Other brands as a puppy gave her digestive issues and after switching to this brand they stopped. When her weight was up, back when around age 5, vet suggested just feeding less and that’s what has worked to keep her at a healthy weight.

I bought this food to replace some food that went bad. The dogs I have are two active lab mixes that are fairly finicky. The dogs liked this food and the price is right since my dogs weigh over 100 lbs. and it takes quite a bit to feed them. It is important that my dogs get quality food since they are like my kids. I purchased this product after not being able to find the Authority Beef Tender Blends option and learning that it is being discontinued. Authority has always been a trusted brand for us and my dogs do well on it. I stayed with Authority for now and switched options. My Pomeranian eats the chicken but still is pushing the kibble around and looking to the chunks and veggies she has been use to for 7.5 years. I can say We are not too fond of our lab’s new found gassiness after switching! I am hoping that Per Smart will bring back the Tender Blend option soon as it was always sold out, so must have been a popular choice .

Ive had multiple dogs on this over the past 6 years, all have done well. My currently only dog though has been reluctant to eat it for the past 2 years. I don’t know if something changed or what, he will eventually eat it, but he’ll also sometimes go a day and a half without eating and then only eat half of what should be a daily portion and then he’ll eat the other half the next afternoon. That being said, he maintains a healthy weight and is always ready for an adventure. He’s also a major couch potato at home. And I don’t know if it is me or what, but I can’t seem to find the nutritional information posted on here for people to view, so I took pictures of my bag. I am looking for a new food at the moment, due to his not wanting to eat it anymore. He also has massive, stinky and slightly soft stools on this food, none of my other dogs ever had that issue.

I’ve owned Great Danes for more than 15 years and all seem to be so fussy about eating. They love a new brand…for about 6 months – then turn their noses to it. Sometimes just for a day or two – sometimes forever. They smell it and walk away. I started buying Authority about a year ago for my 2 current Danes when I saw it recommended on a Dane breeder’s site. So far, so good! They rarely walk away from a meal. That said – although they will, on occasion, eat it dry (quite a testament), I do always add chicken to it for their dinner and yogurt for breakfast. For the most part, they almost always have good, solid stools. They only need to see their vet for their annual check-up; good coats; excellent teeth (never need cleaning); super healthy overall.

The last 3 bags I have got are terrible, there is so much meal in the bag and it is just not the bottom of the bag but the whole bag, I am buying kibble for my puppies not meal, why is this happening are you changing the way you make the food or what. I am very happy with the product! My husky has eaten it since puppyhood and is 5 now. I have had trouble getting it and hope it’s not going to be discontinued! We buy the Authority Large Breed Chicken and Rice and our little herd of 4 Boxers LOVE IT. We go thru a 34 lb bag every week. We have tried other flavors and they are not fans. They have literally spit out the carrots of one of them. They do not like other brands designed for large breeds either. Our herd are true Large Breed Authority fans. They ONLY down fall is the price. It keeps going up. But we will always want to make our herd happy and this brand does just that.

Beware of the labels on this food! I have always fed our Elkhound the chicken and rice formula for large breeds, even as a puppy. I got what I thought was the same food, but it had little pieces of vegetables in it! Moose immediately went on “strike” and began picking out the green and red pieces and dumping them on the ground. I mentioned what I had done when I went to buy the “right” food and they said I could bring it back for a refund! It was only missing two cups of a 34# bag and they took it back for a refund! Who does that! Thank you petsupplycanada!
