Keep a clean bowl of fresh water available at all times. Every dog is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size and activity level. Please use the information on the feeding chart as an initial recommendation only and adjust when needed. Dry and wet food in combination will help to increase the level of water in your dog’s diet. If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/2 cup for every 6 oz. of wet food.

I have an approximately 5 year old rescue. He has been eating this food since he came to live with me four years ago. People comment all the time on how shiny and soft his coat is, what great shape he is in, and how nice his teeth are. His vet gives him an “A” on his health report card every time we visit. Apart from one cut on his leg from an unfortunate fence jumping incident, he hasn’t had any health problems, or even thrown up in all of the time I’ve had him. I highly recommend this food! I have two elderly rescue pug mixes that have been on this food for about three years now. The one has significant gastrointestinal issues. We have struggled to get him to keep food down in the past. Since switching to this food he has been doing much better. Their skin and coats are healthy. They used to both get skin irritations when on a salmon formula. They both love this food and gobble it up. I find the ingredients of this food to be higher quality than the competitor vegan options. My only concern is the kibbles look different from bag to bag. Sometimes they are larger, sometimes very small in size. Sometimes very dark in colour, sometimes very light. I worry about quality control. I have contacted the company and they said the colour variation was something in relation to the addition of beets. Recommends this product ✔ Yes

My dog is very sensitive to kibble and as soon as I opened the new bag (when they changed the packaging) I could smell the difference in the food. He has terrible gas now and soft stool, before I has no issues. I’m very upset with the brand for changing the formula without telling their customers.

I started my dog on a plant-based food (though he still eats meat treats & bones) initially because he kept having allergy flare-ups and I was concerned it may have been from animal protein sources after trying a variety of animal protein based foods. After trying another vegan brand I decided to try Halo and I am definitely pleased! I have no real complaints about this food and it doesn’t appear my dog does either.

My 13 year old Westie has been eating this food for about 2 years now. He was experiencing pretty severe skin allergy reactions that resulted in itchy patches of lost fur/open sores. I had him on Apoquel and was bathing him in special shampoo every other day to keep it under control. Now he is off all medications and I only bath him when I give his fur a trim. So relieved for my boy and my pocketbook (Apoquel is NOT cheap!). Oh, and he loves it! Recommends this product ✔ Yes

The conversion for a 50 lb dog is 22.68 kg, not 18.18 kg. The conversion for a a 75 dog is 34.02 kg not 22.73 kg. This is very misleading to not convert the lbs to kg correctly. Also it says to feed 1/2 cup or 50 grams for a 5 lb/2.27 kg dog. That works out to 193 calories if there are 386 calories in one cup (which I assume is 100 grams if 1/2 cup is 50 grams). Feeding a 75 lb dog would surely require more than 3.5 cups (which should be 350 grams not 385 grams) because this only works out to 1,351 calories. 386 calories per cup which weighs 100 grams. 100 grams times 3.5 cups times 3.86 calories per gram = 1,351 calories. Even at the incorrect 385 grams it only works out to 1,486 calories. There needs to be corrections made to this feeding instruction page. Recommends this product ✔ Yes

I’ve been buying this vegan halo dog food for the last 6 plus years. My dogs have vegan and super healthy and love it. I use this kibble as a base but also provide my dogs with fresh fruits and vegetables, and coconut oil to brush their teeth.
I highly recommend!!! I drive all the way to Ontario even to buy this, as it’s not available in Quebec.

I am unable to get Bentley’s urinary formula at present due to a shortage. The vet suggested anything vegetarian as it’s low in purines (he has a history of stones). It took a day or two but he is certainly enjoying it!! It’s expensive though!

Wow, amazing dog food! My 4 year old large mixed breed mutt has been itchy since he was a puppy. The Vet said feed him expensive prescription dog food, that didn’t work. The Vet said give him Apoquel, that only helps a tiny bit (and costs a fortune!). The Vet said identify which protein he might be allergic to…protein? You never mentioned protein before. We tried chicken, duck, salmon, bison…no difference. One night I thought, hey…can dogs be vegan? Looked it up and what do you know…they can! Halo had the best ratings so I bought a small bag, just to see…oh, because I forgot to mention that he is the pickiest of picky eaters. He loves it! And the best part…no more itchy skin after only a week. I donated his old food and treats and bought a huge bag of Halo Vegan and lots of different vegan treats. No more Apoquel either! Vegan, who knew?

My OzzyDog is a 14 year old pom mix with allergies to animal proteins. We provide many different vegan options for him to ensure that he gets all of his dietary recommendations. Halo Vegan dry mixed with his V-Dog dry food has been great for us. We also provide Halo Vegan wet dog food, Natural Balance Vegan wet dog food, along with various vegan chews, biscuits, brown rice, peanut butter, hemp protein, and fresh vegetables. At 14 years old, he surprises his veterinarians at every appointment due to how great his teeth, fur, and skin look. He could pass for half his age.

My nearly 11 year old husky malamute has been eating Halo Holistic Garden of Vegan for over a year now. She is diabetic and our vet said to keep to a lower protein and fat diet and one that is higher in fibre. The old recipe had the following profile 20% protein, 10% fat, 8.5% fibre with 3400
calories per kg. The new recipe has 27% protein, 15% fat, 5% fibre and 3715 calories per kg. I may have to go to a different, sadly more expensive kibble like Gather Endless Valley which has 22%protein, 11% fat, 4% fibre and 3502 calories per kg. I wish Halo had kept the old formula and simply added a third plant based offering. Lord knows there’s a crazy amount of choice in non plant based dog foods out there. We need lots more choices in plant based dog food!

I always add water (and tsp canned pure pumpkin or other healthy gravy) with kibble and give them lots of whole food treats. Highly recommend. If your dogs have allergies, switch to this too.

Glad to see nitrous and balanced food with high quality ingredients. I turn this food to wet by add 1 part kibble to 1 part water and letting it soak for a few minutes. The variety of fibre in this food helps my dog produce nice solid poops that don’t smell. This food is higher calories, so take care to adjust feeding compared to prior food. Love love this food!

Our pup loves this food! We have tried several other vegetarian & non-vegetarian brands, some of the poor quality meat overs give her soft stool, so moved to vegetarian blends. She likes this one, but loves the vegetarian wet food even more!
A little pricey, but maybe this will change soon as vegetarian dog foods become more frequent.

We started using this vegan dry food and the wet food 3 months ago after we got a rescue min pin with skin problems. We were told she would always have to be on antibiotics and creams, special shampoos. We decided to change her to vegan food to see if it would help. Since she started this food, her skin never has any issues and is in fact now problem free. Her skin is no longer dry and her hair is shiny. She loves the food and can’t wait to eat. I would highly recommend this food if you are thinking of having your dog change to vegan food.
