We recommend that you keep your dog in ideal body condition and not allow your dog to become overweight. The exact amount of food your dog requires will need to be adjusted according to age, activity and environment. But a good place to start is with these guidelines for an average, active, adult dog fed once daily. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly. Provide adequate fresh water in a clean container daily. For your pet’s health, see your veterinarian regularly.
Transition Instructions:
Although you’ll be anxious to see the difference Pro Plan can make in your dog, please allow 7 – 10 days to ease the transition from your dog’s current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Pro Plan until you’re feeding Pro Plan exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

For the past 4 years, this has been the only dog food we’ve found that doesn’t have peas, potatoes, chicken, or corn for our two pups who have different needs. however something must have changed because both dogs have been itching constantly for the last two months. my pup with the preexisting allergies now has hives and is losing patches of fur from itching. Despite a round of Zyrtec, and then trying a round of Benadryl, oatmeal baths, and cortisone cream, nothing has helped, she’s still out of her mind with itches. Our only option now is the elimination diet and switching to a whole food diet. I’m so disappointed with the brand but my girls are my priority.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dog food is pretty great. The salmon and rice flavor my dog absolutely loves. When transitioning from her old food to this one it was a breeze. She has had much less upset stomach issues and so much calmer skin! This food is a life savor.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is such a great dog food. I have a French Bulldog that is very sensitive and has allergies. We had issues when he was a puppy, and switched him over to this food. He’s been healthy, and no issues since! Also, our dog rarely sheds, and we think the food might helped!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs have really enjoyed the salmon and rice formula. They gobble it up every night. I have two dogs with skin allergies that flare when the seasons change and one that gets seasonal shots for it. He has been doing well despite the cold air. I have one dog with a sensitive stomach as well and we have noticed no significant changes to his routine as far as upset tummy or vomiting. I don’t know if it has really helped with his sensitive belly but they do seem to enjoy the food. I received this food for free for an honest review. #paid #sponsered #ad

Our 3yr old Labrador retriever has been on this food since age 18mos (recommended by our vet, which was surprising as vets usually promote products sold in their clinics). She has had no tummy or skin issues and the high quality means less food in her bowl. Labs love to eat!! Only reason for 4 stars is the bag closure. Wish it was re-sealable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Dog Food is a great quality of food. It has a pleasant smell, even for salmon. My dogs did have an improvement in their stomach issues while transitioning and then eating this food. However, they much prefer their chicken Purina ONE over the salmon in the Purina Pro Plan. #Sponsored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog really did enjoy this product. She could not wait until I put the food in front of her every morning. She would jump in circles until I put her bowl down and then she would immediately run to the bowl and start eating. She never left anything behind so I know she really did enjoy it. I did not notice much itching and she has had a regular bowel movement everyday since trying this product. I would definitely recommend this product to other pet lovers especially if your fur baby is sensitive to certain foods. I will be buying her another bag and let her try other flavors as well. #sponsored

I have been faithful to Purina Pro Plan for 30+ years. Although I’ve used primarily chicken for the protein source in the past, I like the Salmon or Lamb for my English Cocker Spaniel who I keep in show coat. He maintains a steady weight and his energy level and coat are great.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach is the best dog food I believe my dog has ever tried! I got the Salmon and Rice Formula for free #sponsored #ad and my dogs instantly loved it! They loved the taste and asked for seconds! Which is a miracle as one of my dogs never asks for seconds! The benefits of this dog food should stand alone as to why one should purchase this dog food but the fact that my dogs love it means it taste great! I highly suggest everyone giving this dog food at least one try!

Dog was doing fantastic on the previous formula. However, now that they have changed it, and taken the probiotics out of the food, his breath is worse, constantly passing gas, and has soft stool. All treats were eliminated to test this and sure enough, the issue persists. Price is far too outlandish for them to be taking out one of the main selling points of this food.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I feed all my dogs raw, except my Maltese. She had terrible tear stains until I switched to Purina Pro Sensitive Stomach about 3 months ago. It’s been a game changer! She is back to being nice and white again. She isn’t as excited about it, because she’s loved raw her whole life but her eyes look clearer and her paws aren’t red. When I sprinkle liver chip powder or crumble dried salmon treat dust on the food she loved it. I highly recommend this product for Maltese!

Transitioning from raw back to kibble. This was recommended by my vet. So far my 4 dogs seem to like it.
Veza (verified owner) –
Extremely disappointed at the size of these kibbles they are so tiny the size that you would feed very small breeds on the package it shows a large larger dog, so I assume there would be large kibble because they had other packages with small breeds small kibbles so it’s just a little false advertising on that one and I’m just a little upset that I have to take it back and find another one with bigger kibbles I mean they are so tiny. I am just too tiny.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I feed this product to both my dogs. They both love it so much they let me know exactly when meal times are. My Veterinarian has commented on how healthy they are and how shiny their coats are. They used to have dry, itchy skin, especially in the winter, but I have noticed a great improvement since switching them to the salmon and rice sensitive skin and stomach. My dogs couldn’t be more happier and that makes me happy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach dog food Salmon and Rice formula to try out with my dogs..I gave to them accordingly to their suggestions as to get an honest trial for review.. Our dogs were pleased with the size and texture of the food, liked the Salmon and Rice flavor.. Had no rejections, as our dogs tend to do with most dry foods out on the shelves.. We weaned them into the food, they had no negative reactions.. Noticed no stomach upsets or issues, no vomiting the food as they have in the past on others foods.. less gassiness and their overall condition definitely seemed improved.. I will be continuing this food as to get more familiarity with it , but we are definitely pleased.. Thank you for the opportunity. #sponsoredreview

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 1 year old golden retriever who has tried nearly 7 different types of food now in her life. Not only can she tend to be picky but the vet suspects she has food allergies. I wanted to try a new more exotic flavor for her that wasn’t chicken or beef (2 most common allergens)
This was our first time trying salmon and it’s a win!
My vet also heavily recommended the Purina brand so we know it’s backed by a health care professional. It’s nice to give a food that I know is good ingredients that my dog enjoys! #sponsored

I have been on a rollercoaster ride trying to find a suitable food for my goldendoodle as he’s not only a picker eater but does have a sensitive stomach.
This food checks all the boxes. For once he’s enthusiastic about his meal, produces firm shinny stool and his coat is luscious. In addition this food doesn’t contain any peas or potatoes which aren’t great ingredients in a dog’s food.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted to try out this food for one of my chi mixes that gets skin rashes easily and so far so good! She seems to be getting less irritation around her tummy area and I like that it is a salmon recipe for her… I was able to try the food through a #sponsored sample trial but original order was damaged so she’s only been transitioning to it for about 10 days but I’m hopeful that this helps her get less/eliminates her skin reactions.. very promising!

Vizslalover12 (verified owner) –
When we got our vizsla puppy the breeder had her on Purina Pro Plan already. She seemed to like it however we had to add a spoon or two of the wet food just so that she would actually finish eating all her food.
We transition to the adult food when she reached the 1 year mark and at first she seemed to do fine on it. Several months later she started vomiting, diarrhea and not wanting to eat as frequent. We were feeding her the Purina Chicken and Rice formula. At first we thought she had gotten into something else, even suspected some bacterial infection. After several vet bills and hundreds of dollars spent we decided to change to the Purina Pro Plan Salmon for Sensitive Skin etc.
Once we made the change we thought nothing of it and gathered that it must have been something that she go into. Again several months in she started with vomiting, diarrhea, bloody stool and being very lethargic. She started losing weight and her appetite.
We visited the vet again, did the same as the first time and it did not seem to help.
When visiting the petsupplycanada sight I thought I would take a look at the reviews and after reading 40 reviews stating that everyone has experienced vomiting, diarrhea etc after Purina changed their formula, I knew that it was the sole and root cause of her problems.
Amongst all the written reviews within the last 5 months that have all been negative, Purina has taken it upon themselves to respond to the reviews by saying how sorry they are.
How about you change the formula back that has worked for so many pet owners and how about you put a warning directly on your packaging so as to inform potential pet owners of the changes.
I think it’s a total disgrace how they go about changing their products and then being made aware of how it affects pets they simply just say sorry.
Purina is directly harming many family’s loved ones and should be held accountable.
I will never feed my dog this poison again!
I’ve since taken her off Purina and immediately started feeding her Taste of the Wild Salmon. There was no transition period as I did not want to feed her this Purina poison anymore. To my surprise her stomach issues cleared up the next day, no diarrhea and zero vomiting. Furthermore she regained her appetite, and energy. No longer was she looking to eat every blade of grass nor was she scratching and shivering.
Her bowel movements were solid immediately after making the change in food. She’s so full of energy and life now. Never would I have thought it would be the food. Along with the vet I went down every avenue besides looking at her food.
It was pure luck that I read the negative reviews and had the same experience.
I hope Purina gets reprimanded for their lack of care and ignorance, and I hope more and more people become aware and stay away from their products.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Our dog Winnie is a Cocker Spaniel and had some tummy issues with her previous food. Our vet recommended PURNIA Pro Plan Sensitive stomach. I haven’t personally tasted it but Winnie sure hasn’t complained. The fact that she was feeling better and we didn’t have to go broke with a super expensive food made us feel confident we made the right decision.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First I wanna say my dog loves it! He chowed it down the first time I gave it as a snack and has eaten it added in his food slowly over the past few weeks. The downside he’s started burping and tooting now when he eats it. So I don’t know if the sensitive stomach formula is best for an older dog like mine as it seemed to cause more digestive problems than he had before. I’d still recommend trying it, but beware of possible extra noises.

After trying various brands, Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach Adult Dry Dog Food – Salmon & Rice has been a game-changer. Since starting this food at 1 year old, my Doberman, now 3, has shown remarkable improvement in his digestion and overall health. This is the only food he can hold down, and it has significantly helped with his sensitive stomach. He remains very active and energetic, which is a testament to the quality of this food. I highly recommend Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach for any dog with similar issues. It has made a world of difference for my Doberman, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our pup has a bit of a sensitive tummy, and this seems to soothe it. No issues getting up at night, or needing to eat grass. She devours it, so it must be tasty, and I love the high quality protein and the beneficial bacteria seems to really help her. #sponsored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dog seems to like Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Dog Food Salmon and Rice Formula. After feeding it to her for about a month now, she still will eat small amounts of it. We feed our dog wet food and leave a bowl of dry food out for her. My dog hasn’t seemed to throw up as much this month since starting this new food. I would recommend Purina Pro Plan if your dog has sensitive skin and stomach. #ad

It took a few weeks to transition but they seem to like it. I like that it does not have a bad scent like some dry dog foods out there. The dogs seem happy with this and seem healthy as well. I did receive this as a free same from #FurBuddies

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is the only food that our shepherd/husky mix can tolerate and actually enjoys. We have experimented with many foods and this is the only one that doesn’t upset his stomach. He is also a very picky eater and I used to have to really dress up his kibbles to spark his interest. He eats this kibble alone just fine!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently made the switch to Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach Dog Food Salmon and Rice Formula for my dog, and I’m thrilled with the results! My dog has always struggled with sensitive skin and stomach issues, but since transitioning to this food, I’ve noticed a significant improvement. Their coat is shinier, and they’re experiencing fewer digestive issues. The salmon and rice formula is not only gentle on their stomach but also provides the essential nutrients they need to thrive. I’m confident that this food is making a positive impact on my dog’s overall health and well-being. If you’re looking for a reliable and effective food for your dog’s sensitive skin and stomach, I highly recommend giving Purina Pro Plan a try!

I really like the fact that there was no G.I. upsets from eating this food. I also like that there was no corn in this dog food. I feel that my dogs got their daily protein serving from this dog food..

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) This is my main food I feed my dogs. I rotate in other purina products through the year for protein variety but I always know this one will agree with both my dogs. especially my male that is sensitive to chicken. Like the size of the kibble, that it’s not too greasy and I love the high calories for my active dogs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All six of my dogs ate this bag up. When it comes to switching their food, I tend to do it slowly. I added this in with their current food they were eating. When I tell you, they were picking the food and eating this one more than their current one. I have very picky eaters, and it was surprising to see them enjoying something new. It was their first time, trying salmon and rice, flavored food. It was definitely a winner in my household. Since trying it out we have purchased it again and I can see it being a staple for my pups. All the benefits in the food really showed in their coats and health overall. I am so thankful we got the opportunity to test out this amazing quality food. Purina, you definitely gained fans. I’d recommend this to all the dog’s parents out there, give it a try. 10/10!! #AD #Sponsored

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My picky dog (Chihuahua-Terrier mix) seems to approve of it. I’ve caught him grazing on it numerous times so I know it is him eating it and not his cat siblings (he has a thing about not liking people watch him eat). It doesn’t seem to bother his stomach in any way, which is nice. The food pieces are a good size for him (cause he doesn’t like dry food that has large pieces).

Snoops Mom (verified owner) –
My vet recommended that I switch Snoop (Labrador/ Dachshund mix) to PPP Sensitive skin and stomach salmon and rice. His excessive shedding, scratching and dandruff have all but gone bye-bye!
He can be a picky eater but he loves this!
I would like to offer an explanation to some of the reviews about finding little white pieces that look like plastic in the kibble. I found a couple and came to the conclusion that they’re pieces of fish scales and not something harmful.
Maybe you can put a disclaimer on the pkgs informing consumers that they might find pieces of fish scales in the food.
It is rather expensive. If it wasn’t for my Sister and her husband I wouldn’t be able to buy this for my Snoop. Thank God they’re able to help me with Snoops expenses!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first time having my dog try out the Purina Pro Plan food line. I transitioned the kibble slowly and eventually she had no problems eating it. She took the food well, I haven’t seen any digestive problems which is one of my major worries when trying new foods. The kibble is a good size, not small enough for her to swallow or choke on it. Overall, I think this is a great kibble and I look forward to giving more of this to my dog in the future.

He takes medication for both that does reduce these issues, but they’re still present. I wasn’t expecting much out of switching his food because we did try several varieties initially and ultimately had to go with one that didn’t really help with either problem, but Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin and Stomach has been a huge benefit for him. Since weaning off his previous food, he hasn’t had nearly as many incidences of vomiting and overall has been less itchy. So even if a food makes them feel sick, they’re going to eat it because it’s food and it’s in front of them; end of debate. But the one with a sensitive tummy seems to be doing ok with this formula. I say “seems” because sometimes it’s hard to know until I find the barfy mess. She has been eating grass a lot lately, having gas and softer than normal poops. I have been looking into different foods for her that would help with these issues. I needed a better food that was fit for her, and this food is exactly what she needed. My dog loved the smell and taste of the food so I had no problem getting her to eat. I gradually transitioned her and she did well with the change, and is now on this food completely. She is doing very well! Her stomach issues have cleared up and her poops are firmer. I am so happy about that. I have also seen improvements in her skin and coat. She doesn’t have dry skin now and her coat is shinier. I love that this food has salmon as the first ingredient which is good for joint health. I love that this food is easy-to-digest and has prebiotic fiber for better gut health. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave my dogs the food and they seem to like it a lot. Was easy to swap their food to this one in a few days none got sick or refuse to eat it.
