I have had my mixed breed dog for about 3 years now, and have tried him on almost every food you could think of. On all the grain-free stuff he had wet, yellow stool, and once I switched to the grain-inclusive he did better, but not great. Been feeding RC to my dog since day 1. He really enjoys it, when we moved from puppy to medium we went to 50% Royal Canin 50% Open Farm mixture. Zero complaints apart from maybe they could make their reseal ziplocks a bit better. I find we’ll blow the ziplock on a small bag of RC in the 1 month of use before it’s empty whereas the open farm bags will keep their ziplock in tact for the entire 2 months those bags last.

My dog’s a really picky eater, probably my fault for feeding her so many different things when I adopted her. She refused to eat any dry food for the longest time without additives. This isn’t a miracle food in the sense that she’ll gobble it up at every meal, but when she does eat, she eats this dry kibble plain [a big accomplishment]. Her coat is shiniest and gut seems healthiest on this food so I’ll continue with it, hopefully for the rest of her life 🙂 I am a veterinary student interested in nutrition and will only buy brands that are backed by science and undergo feeding trials.

We switched our 2 dogs to this about a year ago due to some lab abnormalities seen at checkup for our dog, Bart. He is doing better than ever and our other dog loves the food as well… she has always been a picky eater but we have no doubt she likes her food now. In addition, this brand is slightly less expensive than the food we were using before. Such great food for a reasonable price! We won’t feed our dogs anything else!

I normally buy Royal Canin or Wellness for drug food and often mix it with food I cook at home just for our dog. However, there has been a significant increase in price and am considering now doing meal preps for our dog. I usually buy enough veggies and protein when doing groceries and can make food ahead and freeze it. I also tried Farmer’s Dog for a year and loved it. I may also go back to that. It is cheaper and it’s supposed to be fresh human-grade dog food.

We’ve tried her on 6 different brands of food before RC and I realize now that I should’ve tried RC sooner! She comes running over for her food at meal time now and she has become quite food motivated with it, so I use it at treats, as well! She’s actually only 17lbs, so she doesn’t quite qualify for the Medium size food, but I use it for the dental benefits as she has to take more time to chew the kibble pieces than the smaller ones. She is in the perfect body condition, her hair coat is soft and shiny, and she has more energy on this food than on previous brands. Her teeth look great and her stool is nice and regular (not soft and runny like on previous grain-free diets). I also liked that with this brand, there wouldn’t be as much of a GI upset if we had to switch to one of the prescription diets as my dog gets older. Overall I absolutely love this dog food brand and will definitely keep future dogs on it, as well!

We switched our dog to Royal Canin after MUCH research. He was on a grain free food and we were scared regarding all of the reported heart issues that could be linked to grain free / boutique type foods. When I first got this dog and she came with this type of food, it was $75. for a 30lbs bag, That same bag is now $110.99, so now I went to the medium size dog and that one is $102.99 So crazy. And you can’t find discounts for this except petsupplycanada will give you a whole $3. off. And rarely you can find the 20% off.So although I really like the larger pieces of dog food, because I believe they are better for their teeth. I will not ever have another dog. Our boy doesn’t go for dog food kibble – period. But, my friend’s dog went wild for this while visiting someone who had a bowl of this out for their own pup. I know my friend’s pup is a fussy girl too – so, I bought a small bag. My boy won’t eat it from a bowl.
