Have been using for about 3 months now. Overall working good. We feed our reeves turtle twice a day in seperate container then place him back in the tank. It helps keeping food crud out of the the tank. We’re cleaning the tank monthly, full drain and flush, swapping out the filters. Water is staying clear. It would be nice if they sold 12 packs of the filters for 6 months and save on packaging. We run our tank just above the minimim water level due to the size of the turtle. We don’t want the water too deep.
We’ve run low and had the sucking sound, just added a couple quarts of water. Sucking sound gone.

I have had my red bellied slider turtle for the last 8 years in a 50 gallon aquarium and this filter is excellent. Set up in less than 5 minutes and it is keeping the water crystal clear. The filter itself is barely audible and doing great. Excellent product.

I purchased this product two months ago for my tank. I have had issues with it constantly, the water sometimes does not come out. It will be plugged in and not filtering water. It would make a loud noise and then eventually some water would come out every once in a while. Finally this morning it comely stopped working. I am extremely disappointed with this product. Also, the suction cups are constant coming off and I have to spend 15-20 minutes trying to get them back in place. I would HIGHLY not recommend or purchase this product again. My brother is also beginning to have the same issue with his filter that he purchased lass than a month ago. My boyfriend also has a larger version of this filter and is experiencing the same issues. We all purchased this filter between 1-3 months ago.

Turtles can be messy and result in a filthy aquarium. These filters last a long time and keep the turtle aquarium clean.

Reading the reviews here I had to leave a mostly good review. Sorry everyone else thought that a filter would clean their tank for them but that’s not how anything works. You still need to do a water change weekly. You still have to clean the pump a few times a year.

Bought these a few weeks ago for my son’s turtle tank. Easy to install into the filter right out of the box. Sale price was certainly worth the money. I used to clean the entire tank once a week, but now it can wait sometimes for 2 – 2.5 weeks.

We are new turtle owners and the filters aren’t working at all. The water is incredibly dirty and cloudy. Am I doing something wrong?

I would not recommend this at all. Very poor filter. No power and impossible to clean. Comes with no instructions on how to take it apart to clean. Found replacing filters for this thing was once a week. Says up to 20 gallons. My open 5 gallons. Supposed to made for turtles? not.

I bought the tetra reptofilter 10 for my baby turtle tank. It worked ok for a week. When I changed the water and cleaned the impeller and interior of the filter then plugged it back in…nothing. No sounds or anything coming from the filter. One week. Even after troubleshooting it’s not working. Not too thrilled.

I bought this product thinking it would clean my turtle tank. The problem is that the as the filter tries to pull particles into the base the water flows downward and pushes the particles away from the filter. And, it only works in the immediate area of the the filter. It does not draw the dirt from the entire tank. I think the water should somehow flow away from the tank to get the water flowing better.

I have one large reptofilter that has always worked great! However I tried two small ones and now a new large one and they all make this terrible rattling noise. I’ve taken apart the large filter and readjusted the pump and impeller multiple times and I can’t get it to stop rattling, which makes my turtle go insane . It’s a 50/50 chance whether you get a good one or a bad one.

These work great!! I went from cleaning the tank every week to every three weeks. My three little ones (turtles) are pretty messy and these help me keep their water clean longer. I recently became a turtle mom and I’m coming to find that I’ll be spending a lot replacing as needed! I like that I can buy three for the price of one!!!!!

I bought this filter for a small turtle tank (a ten gallon tank with less than 3 inches of water). It has not kept it clean at all and when trying to move it, the suction cup came off and I could not get it back in.

I bought this hoping to help filter my water portion of my half land/half water terrarium. The water is only about a gallon and a half. Unfortunately after having this product for 3 months and changing the filter 3 times it still hardly works, doesn’t out put flow and tonight it completely stopped pumping water. I’ve even attempted to pull the pump in half and clean the bottum portion. Really upset as to now I have a very messy craw fish dirtying the water and my poor tetra is having issues breathing.

Easy to clean and really keeps the water clean. Beautiful design. I keep a Phillips screwdriver handy and remove the bottom pump cover each time I clean. (Be very careful the screws don’t go down the drain. A magnet works for retrieving them) An old toothbrush is the only other tool needed. The pump cover snaps off easily to remove any debris that might get in. It takes me 5 minutes to clean and add a new filter. The filter lasts at least a month. The best aquatic turtle filter I have used.

We’ve had this filter for about 3 years and it works well aside from the fact that the suction cups never stay stuck — they always slide down. And, finally one came loose and went missing. We cleaned the tank and can’t find it anywhere. Now the filter keeps falling in and the tank went murky. I need another suction cup or another filter and I’m just not happy that a “perfectly good” filter itself is useless. I’d give it 5 stars if I had a resolution to the sliding (and now missing) suction cups.

I purchased 2 filters and started using them both in a 75 gallon tank for 1 turtle. They worked really good for approximately 4 weeks. I have to change the filters quite often. I used a little filter for a long time, This one doesn’t seem to be as efficient.

I’ve had 20 of these in the 30 years I’ve had red eared sliders. One tank is huge, so it needs 3 filters, the other tank uses 2, and as long as I change the filter cartridges regularly, they work great.

This filter does not work consistently. The water will stop filtering and u have to keep plugging it an unplugging before it starts filtering again. It only picks up particles in the immediate area of the filter. Very disappointed

I purchased the repto filter a week ago and previously had great experience with the same type of filtration for an aquatic turtle tank. I purchased the large version and after 3 days of use the pump inside the fall runs dry and the filter bags won’t allow water flow. This makes the set up very noisy with extremely poor filtration. I find that the filter bags on both sides of the pump are not quite allowing enough flow for actual filtration and maybe with a sturdier plastic housing instead of a filter bag the filtration would improve.

I bought a filter a month ago that stopped working so I took it all apart and cleaned it and still no luck. I thought it might have been something in my tank that messed it up so I bought another one last week. From Thursday to Monday that filter stopped Working too!! so I cleaned it out and didn’t see anything in it that would clog it. So I cleaned it and it started working again. The next day it stopped working again. Don’t waste your money. So disappointed

We have had our turtle for almost 20 years and the ReptoFilter has been a blessing that we could have never imagined. I honestly bought it because it was cheaper than replacing the filter system I’ve used for years (and have had to replace multiple times). When we first turned it on we had to look to make sure it was even working! It is SO QUIET and still after a few months remains just as quiet. It cleans the water like nothing ever has. I still can’t believe it. ReptoFilter, where have you been all my (turtle’s) life? LOL

It’s cheap, easy to use/set up, but it’s not very good. I’ve bought multiple of these filters in the last 5 years. Each one continues to die after a couple years. The suction cups aren’t enough to hold the weight of the filter, so you have to figure out a better way to get it to stay where you need to. The filter cartridges need to be changed more frequently than in any other filter I’ve used, but the water quality in my tank is awful despite this. The filter itself isn’t very easy to clean. It needs to be a little easier to take apart and clean out the motor if need be. Because the motor will give you trouble at some point, trust me. Overall, it’s just not a good filter for turtles.

So like all the other reviews need to change filters often, like weekly. Works great….for about 4 days. Can not clean bottom half. And if that’s not bad enough I have yet to purchase the filters and have all three filters with charcoal. This last purchase only ONE of the three had charcoal! When looking for a good filter, choose something else!

I got this for my salamanders and it works great… until it doesn’t! The electromagnet that turns the propeller keeps sticking and it’s a pain to take it out of my tank and unstuck it. To top it off, you need to place rocks or a little fish net around it or it’ll suck up a salamander’s delicate little fins, limbs, or tail. I also had to place a rock in front of it to diver the filtered water away from getting immediately recirculated which otherwise would make the rest of the water in my 5 gallon tank go stale. Definitely needs work but as far as I know, there’s no other filter as cheap and as small as this one so it’ll have to do for now.

I purchased this a couple weeks ago and just installed it in my paludarium about three days ago, two of which it ran without my frog in there to filter the new tank water. It is currently 1am where I am and the filter began to make a sloshing sound (like someone sucking through a straw in an empty cup). I proceeded to get up and adjust it slightly because I thought plants were stuck in it. I moved the plants away and then it started buzzing loudly. After that I went to check on it a second time and at this point it stopped working entirely. I tried to change the filter because I thought that would have been the issue, it wasn’t. I also tried to plug it into a different outlet to no avail. Saying that I’m upset with the product is an understatement. I nearly crushed it in my hands because I’m so extremely irate. Now my poor frog has no filter until tomorrow after I get out of work and unfortunately I’ll be limited to this one because I am a broke young adult. I am going to exchange this one and I swear to all things holy if this one doesn’t work after 3 days too I will most likely go feral. I am absolutely positively furious.

I bought this filter as an interim replacement for my large filter that broke. Worked well in the beginning (first 2 weeks). The lid didn’t fit – but that wasn’t a huge deal. Water was clear, no issues. 3 weeks in- I rinsed off the filter cartridge as the water was starting to get murkier. When I put the rinsed cartridge back in and turned it back on, the small suction cups on the back would not hold it. I ended up having to rig it with tape! It’s been over 24 hours since I rinsed the cartidge and water hasn’t really cleared up. I bought the replacement filters and will be changing it, but it definitely didn’t last as long as the instructions said. Hoping to get my large filter fixed soon and will only be keeping this as a back up.
Tank: 40 gallon- only filled up halfway for my Red Eared Slider

This is a simple request: PLEASE make the option of buying a bigger box than a 3 count!! It’s such a waste of materials. I’m having to buy like 5 seperate boxes instead of a 15 count which I would LOVE! My turtles are very messy and yes I rinse the filters after a week and a half and get another week out of them which is great but I don’t want to have to go out and buy a new box every 3 weeks (my filter uses 2 of them) I want to have them so I don’t run out! Being a busy mom it would help a lot!

I bought this about two years ago, and I have used it in several tanks. All the tanks I used it for were under 7 gallons (I have the smaller of the two filters), but contained animals that create a lot of waste (slidders, tadpoles, snapping turtles..etc/lots of waste). I have read a lot of negative reviews on this filter, and I think thats because people wants this filter to make the water crystal clear. If you have a reptile or amphibian, the water will be gross and murky; look at the natural habbitiat your critter came from, its less than likely to be crystal clear water.

This works for a couple months then it start to make noise the motor is clogged but there is no way to open it to clean the motor so clogged and reduced suction power. This is my second one the first one came with my tank as a set it stopped working motor crapped out. This would be good if you could open it up to clean the motor. I use it for my turtle tank and clean it often I remove all the water and scrub the tank. I don’t do partial water removal and never use treated tap water only purified filtered drinking water and occasionally spring water. I scoop the left over food after the turtle eats and waste everyday. They’re no large waste or food. Its tiny bits and distresser leaves a slimy film on the filter clogs the motor. Bad design no way of cleaning motor and reduced suction. This only work normally for about 4-6 months. I don’t recommend it.

I own 2 of these filters for my turtle tank. I have an African side-neck turtle (very messy little guy). These filters are amazing! I have owned them for 5 years now, and not a minutes worth of trouble out of them. I have had many filters in the past that only work for a week or so, then spontaneously stop working. Not these! I do spray them out with the hose every couple weeks. I also spray out the filter cartridges, which keeps me from going through so many as I can reuse them multiple times. I highly recommend this product to anyone who owns a pet turtle!

I have had this filter for about 6 months for my 1 aquatic turtle. I have never had an issue with it. It starts right up and is very quite. I love that it excepts the tetra/whisper filter cartridges. Very quick and easy to change filters. Love this style of filter as well, if the power goes up in your home, since this sits in the water it will not run dry when the power comes back on. LOVE IT!!!!

I brought a reptile tank for my two turtles and I though that this pump would work. Well, I was sadly mistaken, I only had my turtles for a week and I had to replace the water due to the quality of the pump. It just isn’t a good quality product.

I bought the filter off of a recommendation from a video. As soon as I installed it there have been issues. For one, the bottom suction cup came off. No matter how I have tried I cannot get it back in. This of course led to decreased filtration as instead of the water being forced through the filtration media, half of it is blown out the back. The other issue is that the lid does not fit correctly. I have attempted to get it to sit flush, but each time it pops back up. This would not be more than a cosmetic issue if my frog had not decided that inside the filter was a grand place to hide.

Wow I’m so surprised at the reviews‼️ I’m on here to but my third reptofiler. It’s been at least 5 years since I bought my first one. It stopped working the other day after running straight 24/7 for all those years! I run 2 of them in a 125 gallon tank for my red-ear slider.
