The Thrive 23 Watt Desert 10.0 UVB Bulb provides essential UVB, UVA, and visible light for desert reptiles. Reptiles need UVA and UVB to thrive in their environment, and this light helps maintain reptile vision and benefits overall health. In addition, UVA bulbs help to provide the radiant heat your ectothermic pet requires. It also promotes calcium absorption and healthy bones, and spurs production of vitamin D, just like sunlight (but without radiant heat). Directions:
Gently fasten the light bulb into a UL or ETL approved incandescent fixture. Do not plug the light fixture into an electrical socket until the bulb is fastened firmly to the fixture. Place the light fixture outside the habitat. Never place the light fixture inside the habitat, as a hot light bulb can harm your pet.
Advice for use:
It is recommended to replace your light bulb every 6-8 months. Use this bulb with a Thrive lamp fixture.

This bulb lasted just over 2 weeks and then it burnt internally. It is NOT a safe product for bearded dragons. Should the glass have shattered it would have caused harm or even death to my 8 month old beardie. I am extremely disappointed with the thrive bulbs. We purchased a new bulb – different brand and have had no issues. They even warranty their bulbs unlike thrive where there is no contact info. Go with zoo med.

This bulb came with the Thrive Bearded Dragon kit, and one morning , I turned it on as usual. Minutes later, I hear some arcing and saw sparks within the lamp shade. It sparked and popped for a few seconds. Ran to unplug it to prevent fire… Not recommended for your pet or safety cause of this terrible experience.

But, unfortunately, to start off with one lobe of the three was not working. Also, on the front of the package, it states Simulates sunlight for vitamin D production without producing heat. But THEN, on the rear of the packaging, it states the bulb will get hot when in use. Ok. .yes it gets hot….too hot in my opinion to leave on safely. So I’m sorry I am not a fan of this product and will stick with my previous lights.

It came with the 40 gallon Thrive kit and the fixture and the bulb is not adequate to support a bearded dragon. Had to buy a separate T5 fixture and bulb.

Hours after we bought and installed the bulb, it smelled like something was burning- like melting plastic or rubber. We figured out within minutes it was the bulb. When my husband removed the bulb, there were torch marks. We had to air out my son’s room and keep our bearded dragon out for awhile. The fumes were awful. DO NOT BUY unless you want your house to catch fire!

Within 30 minutes of plugging this into my 100 watt fixture, it sounded like water was running. We look over to see smoke coming out of the light and then it starts sparking, extremely close to a fire until my husband ran to unplug it. We were JUST about to go to bed, so I’m relieved we were awake and home or it could have been extremely bad. Trying to air out the horrible smell now.

Bought this yesterday as part of the thrive kit. The bulb did not even last half of a day and is now out. So day 2 of owning new pet and I need to go replace items from the starter kit. I would recommend replacing this bulb immediately and factor that price into total cost. Do not expect this bulb to be long term solution.

Ensure that the lamp fixture is not plugged in and fully secure prior to turning the lamp on. I turned this bulb on one morning when I got home from work and went to bed. This was 2 days after purchasing. Not 30 minutes later, my husband was waking me up, frantically saying something was burning. It took us a hour to figure out that it was the new bulb. My beardie was breathing in the toxins and acting sick. It was not my done fixture, it was this bulb. Black smoke and fumes had filled the dome and our house. If you love your possessions and reptiles, DO NOT use this bulb and especially do not leave it unattended. I am so thankful that we were home. Pay the extra few dollars and get a different one. We could have lost everything that morning.
