For added weather resistance, spray a water-displacing penetrating lubricant oil on the spring area of both snap hooks every 60 days.

Caution: Intended for dogs only. Keep out of thereach of children. Do not use with choke-type or adjustable collars. Do not use as a tie-out cable for walking your dog. Never use any tie-out cable near or around obstacles in which your dog can become entangled. Remove the cable, stake, or trolley when not in use. Keep hands/extremities clear of the tie-out cable in case your dog lunges. Not all dogs can be tied out effectively. Pet parent supervision and judgment is required. Never leave your dog unattended while on a tie-out cable, stake, or trolley. Check the tension of your tie-out system regularly. Immediately discard the table, stake, or trolley if damaged.

Bought this a week ago works great with our little dog. Strong but light weight and easy for her to get around.

I bought this for my husky pup who has escaped from lighter cable tie outs. It is working out great! The clips are much heavier so she is unable to slip/break them. She pulls and jumps constantly, so the more durable and heavy clips and cable are more reliable!

We bought this to replace a worn out version of the same thing, that had lasted us for years. This tether was a great solution to keeping our dog in our unfenced yard. We use it with a harness for the dog’s safety. The coated metal cord is lightweight and strong.

This is the second tie out I have bought for my strong Staffy. He always needs to be tied up in case the neighbour’s dog wanders into our yard. This tie out is strong and does the job well.

Callie likes to be in the front yard while we work on the yard and this keeps her safe, close, and the freedom to move around. Her old cable link broke. This one is a bit stronger and is easy to attach and use.

It’s to cheap the clip part keeps coming off his collar not fun chasing him down

The tie out is great. Just long enough so my cat can’t get to the road. But he got out of his harness so have to find a better one of those. 🙁

It is durable for the outdoors. Good quality for the money.

  13. Rated 3 out of 5

Love that this is coated wire so my dog doesn’t chew her way off. Downside is it is wire and will rust and break over time. Clips are very poor quality for the weight capability. For the longest time I thought my German shepherd had opposable thumbs because she kept getting off of the tie out. Nope…she just found if she shook hard enough and enough times eventually the clip would come off both collars leaving her free to roam.

Has a Creative Dog (verified owner)

Works, but if your dog has a habit of chewing on the plasticky coating or otherwise tearing it off (my dog definitely does!), then it will inevitably get wet, rust, and break. This applies to all products of this type. However, it still works better than a traditional chain, so I have resigned myself to just buying a new one of these every 6 months to a year.

Purchased these three times and our two dogs have broke them each time. Our dogs get out of our yard and scare the neighbour’s as they run up and bark at them. They seem to only last a few months at a time. Would not recommend.

    Pitdad (verified owner)

Bought this to give my Pit terrier some extra outdoor time. He has gotten off 2 times due to the leash style clip on both ends and has almost pulled the cord itself apart.
Had it a little over a week and will have to buy a different option very soon.

i had to buy a dog tie out because i have a fenced in yard, but my 6 month old labradoodle digs under the fence and gets out. This tie out is long enough where he can play in the yard.

Figured I would write an honest review of this product as I purchased when my Border Collie was a pup and she will be turning 5 this year. I left it out through all Canadian seasons and it still worked great until my boyfriend ran it over with the lawn mower. I will be heading out to purchase another today because I don’t trust any brand to be as good as this one. I never expected to get so long out of it but it was nice to have something I could truly trust was not going to break if my dog pulled. Highly recommend.

We live in the country and the neighborhood dogs used to wander freely. But times have changed, and Harley needs to stay home. This (40ft) is our go-to, because he gets pretty much free-range of the yard, keeps strangers from coming down the driveway, but keeps him from running into the road (but he sure tries). Coating breaks down eventually, and that’s when I usually buy a new one (like now), but for something that gets as much roughing-up as it does from an 80ish lb dog, I think the 9 to 12 months it usually lasts is pretty good.

We’ve only had it for just over a week and the wire cable is already kinking which is pain because I’m constantly trying to unlink it. My dog is 16 and about 20 lbs, so she’s moves pretty slow. In 16 years I have bought quite a few and they have never did this.

Had this tie out for a little over a week and it already broke. Very disappointed that it didn’t last because it seemed like it was holding up fairly well. But my 45 decided to chase after someone walking down the road and snapped the lead that was weighted for 100lb dog.

I bought the 100# tie out for my puppy to grow into. My puppy is only 8 months old and weights 35#s. This broke within 4.5 months! the coating gets brittle breaks and the cable rusts! I do not recommend this product at all! My dog broke this while outside, thankfully she came to my door to come in and didn’t take off into our street!

I have a pit-bull, breaks everything we’ve tried. Bought a 200 lb. Top Paw today, the dog might weigh 80 lbs. so, let’s give it a whirl! Seems like a strong enough tie-out for her! We’ll see!

  40. Rated 5 out of 5

I have to replace my tie out about once a year or so. The plastic coating cracks and then the cable rusts and eventually breaks. I’ve been lucky that our dog doesn’t roam off. This model is for a large breed (my dog is ~70lbs) but the diameter of the cable is thinner than I’ve had in the past. Also, the clasp (?thumb clasp?) that attaches to my dogs collar/harness is also smaller so I wish that was a little beefier.

  41. Rated 5 out of 5

    V me (verified owner)

We have tried other lines for our 100 lb dog and this one is the best. The hooks are large and strong, and the cable is nice and heavy. With the large hook, it is easy to handle and attach to our dog’s collar. Love it!

The latch on the end of it is very weak! Not strong at all, I’m afraid it will move sideways when my dog is out in the yard and he’ll get loose. Not happy at all with your product.

Unlike other brands I’ve purchased that heat shrink wrap the plastic on the base of the clasp, these seem to be just pressed on and come off easily. I was grateful I caught our dog chewing it before he swallowed.

I would say it lasted about a year and a half. I have a 90 pound mutt that isn’t that much of chaser it’s from time to time he will run to the end and it held up. However the plastic coating breaks and the cable rusted and it snapped and he got loose. I would say it’s a pretty good product but when the coating breaks I would replace it asap.

The plastic coating on the wire cracks within a couple of months and the tie out becomes compromised. I know this because I buy one every 3 months and the only reason I do is because it is a long cable. They really need to put a better coating on this.

It’s a good tie out, the only thing is after a while if the plastic breaks around an area for whatever reason (twisted, biting) the metal starts to splinter which can eventually poke you or your dog. So just be careful and when it splinters, it’s time to get a new one!

My 3rd time purchasing within the last 3 years. Great product and very well built, but I have 2 large dogs that have previously broken off of a different tie out and I prefer to replace as soon as the outside coating wears down and breaks apart. Never had this one actually break on me but I replace every so often just in case. They are very durable so far!

This is a great product that clips to the harness and lets me put my dog out with a decent range but not too far for first thing in the morning before I can get dressed to walk him around. He has gotten used to it pretty quick and will do number 1 & 2 without issue and he is a picky dog(long haired Chihuahua! I am happy with it and so id he so he doesn’t have to try to hold it waiting on me to bundle up or get anything done first. I just let him right out first thing. Now there are no “accidents” anymore at all!

I bought this for my border collie/Australian Shepard so she can play in our yard. She gets very excited over rocks which has caused her to chew through several leashes trying to get them. The buckle for this leash is pretty heavy, but it’s intended for dogs much larger than mine, so it’s no fault of the leash. Super strong, and I’m very happy with this purchase.

Like all tie outs this product only lasts a short time. After 2 years of use our initial purchase is starting to weather so we purchased a second one. The original will now be repurposed to our camping supplies. If you are expecting this to last forever you will be disappointed but its a decent value for its lifespan.

We rescued a puppy, Part German Shepard, part Moose. She’s just 60# soaking wet, but Broke a retractable leash & a smaller cable tie out! This one os holding her strong with no issues!

We have used this version of tie-out for several years. This is our second grey one which is the largest I believe. It lasts through the seasons and wear and tear with the dogs

Would give this 0 stars if I could! I got this >100# for my boxer. If he shakes his head with it on, the clasp opens and drops to the ground – that goodness he’s not a runner! Would not recommend. now need to find a new tie out for him

Hy husband bought the cable so that Buddy can be outside with me while I out in the front yard. Works great, but I think I need the 10′ one because he can get into my garden. This may get used for the back yard.

These ties do not last! The plastic coating cracks almost immediately and then when it rains or snow gets on the metal they rust and then they snap off quite easily .
My last one didn’t last a month and the only reason I got another one is because I couldn’t find another tie out long enough .

I always get backups for when it breaks, but it is the best one I have found for my dogs. It usually lasts a few months to a year.

Purchased the best strength for puppies because I know they will grow. Only issue is the plastic protector on the Clip on both fell down so they like to chew it. Otherwise great.

we bought this tie out because our other one broke, this new one is rated for a heavier dog but this is ok because she won’t break it when she sees rabbits, and then the rabbits are safe from her.

I bought this less than 6 months ago for our dog. It’s held her perfectly well and there was no issues but my husband went to put the dog out and the lead snapped right in half. Rusted totally through. I do not recommend this.

I have a 45lb dog who I put on this lead (supposed to hold dogs up to 50lb) less than 5 times since I’ve bought it. I put her on it, walked to another part of the yard, and she ran towards me and snapped it. The metal part where it clips it missing. The pivot joint is still intact but the clip part that goes into it is missing. Very disappointed in the quality of this item.

I have used the regular tie-out (for up to 200 lb dogs) and the reflective tie-out. The reflective tie-out appears much less substantial than the non-reflective type. But, I like the size of the snap-lock on the reflective type. It is smaller and attaches the my dog’s collar easier. But, the I noticed that the reflective cable had rusted off from the snap-lock this morning. Had my dog gone out to use the bathroom this morning, she most likely would have been gone! I am not sure how long we have had the tie-out, but I would guess 8 months. Too bad petsupplycanada purges your purchase history after such a short time! 🙁

I bought the tie out about two weeks ago and for some reason it keeps twisting up on itself. I bought a separate one a couple months ago that is 10ft longer than the newest one and I did not have the same problem with that one.
I want to take the new one back but since I no longer have the receipt and the tie out has been used for 2 weeks I figure they probably won’t exchange it for a new one. The dog will just have to live with it until it wears out and I buy a new one.

I bought this for my Anatolian Shepherd/Kangal (Giant Breed) top 5 tallest, top 5 fastest, often number one baddest dog on the planet, the killer of wolves, bears, lions and more. These beast are capable of busting loose at will of just about anything. It’s a given that they will sooner or later. They can jump too. No fence can contain them. My other dog is not tied when they are out without me pottying. All dogs wear and tear there confinement. Urination breaks down both plastic and vinyl coverings to reveal the metal cable which is the exposed to more urinating and weather along with the friction, tension and jerking of the dog. The XL cable holds up to my Kangal is capable of dragging a heavy equipment tire like a rag doll while the worlds strongest men struggle to flip it down a small course. They are like car brakes. Expect to replace periodically. Get the right size for tour dog. Don’t use it for other things. It’s a great buy.

This tie-out is sturdy and does a good job of keeping our 80+ lb dog in our yard. Cannot say as much for the post we purchased with this tie-out, which said it would hold a dog up to 100 lbs. He pulled it right out of the ground and did a walk-about, dragging the tie-out and post behind him!
