This a good product my green anole loved it but I had to had feed them because the crickets and mealworms burrowed in it
dogmomma13 (verified owner) –
I used numerous types of substrate for my ball python, and this one was one of my favorites. Holds the humidity well in tank and is basically dust free, which is great. Also the price is great!
Tierra (verified owner) –
I love this substrate for my two ball pythons. I have never been a fan of aspen since it seems very scratchy and just does not look very nice. The repti bark looks very clean and natural in the tank and my snakes seem to enjoy it. It holds moister well and heat.

Per store recommended this for my turtle… works great… I have been buying this for years!!!!
mattw1978 (verified owner) –
I have six firebelly toads and they love this bark better then the bigger bark i was useing before but i do find one thing wrong with it small crickets hide under it
Momma Runner (verified owner) –
Great bedding for reptile. She loves her bedding in her house.
Geckomaster (verified owner) –
Allows for great humidity regulation, looks very natural, easy to clean, lower amounts of dust than similar products
nuttyaboutsquirrels (verified owner) –
i found this at petsupplycanada, and got it for wesley and inigo (my hermit crabs) at Christmas time. they LOVE it! it looks wonderfull in the habitat, and my hermies crawl around in it and hide in it, and i recommend this to hermit crab owners or other reptile owners!
GeckoMonster (verified owner) –
I got this for my tree frog Kermit. It lasted very long and it is very good for tropical habitats because it holds in water. I only used up half of the smaller bag because he died young. It also smalls and looks earthy!
TinaZac (verified owner) –
I bought this to go with the reptile bark for my snakes bedding. Overall great. Doesn’t absorbe moisture so that’s a plus so no fungus grows in our habitats between cleanings
JenneGibLar (verified owner) –
I put a top-layer of this in all my forest-theme habitats. Not only does it make it look realistic but the animals enjoy it aswell. It really cuts down on the dustiness that a half-sand-half-soil mixture creates and aids in humidity greatly without any fear of this stuff getting into food dishes and being ingested.
SnakeDaddy15 (verified owner) –
This is the best bedding I’ve found so far to help retain humidity in my snake’s environment. He seems so much more comfortable and happy, and the humidity percentage is much easier to control since I’ve been using this. I’d definitely recommend d it to other reptile owners!
Hattori (verified owner) –
I use this for my blue-tongue skink, corn snake, and milk snake. It smells and looks great, and cleans easily. I’ve noticed that it does hold moisture fairly well when my bluie sloshes his water around. I’m about to move and so will be doing a 100% substrate change on each cage – time to go buy some more! Simple mulch from a home improvement store would be much cheaper, but for the smell, looks, and convenience, I’ll stick with this stuff.
Jmarcus (verified owner) –
i brought this product a few weeks ago and i’m happy that i went that route for my bedding.
StephanieW (verified owner) –
I have a really hard time getting the right levels of moisture in my tank with this. It looks really nice and smells good. Tree frogs seem to like it.
Paws1224 (verified owner) –
Have used this fir my turtle’s cage. Great priduct.
DerpyTurtle (verified owner) –
It’s great for my tortoise. I just have to buy more because the bag available at my petsupplycanada wasn’t enough to fill my custom tortoise table. But I still recommend it! I might mix it with coconut fiber to make it have a little more texture to it. It’s a bit rough, but not rough enough to damage a shell or any scales/skin.
StacyLavergne (verified owner) –
Makes a comfortable bed for our gecko Lucy. Thanks for always having the best products.
Beardieluver2000 (verified owner) –
I hae had this substrate for my tortoise for 3 years! I never reuse it like it says but it smells great and looks natural! With the log i bought It actually looks like her natural habitat! She never eats It either which is a plus! I would reccomend this to all russian tortoise owners! It is sort of dusty though…
Frogsgoribbit (verified owner) –
I used this as a temp substrate when moving my frogs during a move into a new house this weekend. Frogs were taken out of their vivariums and out into tubs.
turtlelover61288 (verified owner) –
This is the best bedding you can buy. It is better than other bedding products like coconut and shreaded bark. It smells great, and is great at absorbing wet materials. My tortiose loves it, and I would high suggest this bedding!
Golden turtle (verified owner) –
I am happy with Zoo Med ReptiBark, (Any products from Zoo Med).
Anarchy99 (verified owner) –
Set up my terrarium with this stuff…Misted it down and went to bed. Woke up and couldnt breathe..I had an allergic reaction to this stuff somehow. Its also kinda rough and jagged…dont imagine any snake is comfortable laying in it. Now you can use whatever you want obviously..im just telling you what happened to me…I dont like it.
Maxamillion (verified owner) –
Easy to use and clean-Tortoises love to burry themselves at night.
RussianTortoises (verified owner) –
Repti – Bark is AWESOME. i use it for my russian tortoise. and it works very well. it holds humidity, but tortoises don’t need that much humidity. but overall it is a very good bedding.
Zalina (verified owner) –
Our Iguana Emerald loves to dig in it, plus it makes her cage so easy to clean. With it being organic we use it as mulch in the garden.
Kyzer (verified owner) –
I have been using this stuff for years. Its really all i use. All of my reptiles love it.
Chunky (verified owner) –
I love this for my reptiles, looks good and keeps very well

greenanole2 (verified owner) –
this substrate is great! it has a great smell, helps with humidity and has a great look! i would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone.
OlWolf (verified owner) –
Not too hard and chunky, not too fine and dusty. Good humidity retention. Best of the varieties at Merchant’s Walk that I’ve tried so far. Too bad was only one on the shelf when I stopped by!
Cc589 (verified owner) –
Great product. My tortoise loves this stuff. She loves to burrow.
Ckama (verified owner) –

Cypha (verified owner) –

DaRo (verified owner) –
This is absolutely the best for my tortoise. He loves it.
Denise3K (verified owner) –
This is the second time I have purchased this particular item and it works extremely well for all of my arachnids. The only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because of the price.
Alicianicole (verified owner) –
My python became such a happy man after switching to this brand
JoeD85 (verified owner) –
With both my ball pythons I used to use forest floor but it would stay wet for long periods of time. Switching to reptibark was the beat, since I switched havnt had any issues what so ever with humidity, about every 2 days I have to give it a good spray. Definitely recommend this product to anyone with a snake of any morph
ReptileHerpLizardLover (verified owner) –
Repti-bark seems like it would be fine for a tropical gecko, but it smells absolutely horrible, and it gives me a headache to even get close to the bark because of it’s strong smell. I don’t reccomend this for a desert lizard, such as a Leopard Gecko or a Bearded Dragon, but for certain tropical lizards it would most likely work very good. Maybe for a Chameleon or something like that.
Razie (verified owner) –
Not really all that helpful in keeping the moisture in the tank. Super annoying to clean. Take all of it out, wash it with soap and water, let it dry some. Put it back. I have a 75 gallon tank. You know how irritateing that is? Can’t see when there is bodily fluids. But my iguana likes it. Maybe better for a different creature.
Alex5909 (verified owner) –
I used this for my Chinese Water Dragons enclosure, not only did it keep great humidity like it said it would do with misting here and there it looked amazing with his jungle homemade tank setup. Never had a problem with it and its easy to clean up and replace when needed.
RussianTortoises101 (verified owner) –
Repti-Bark is an awesome bedding! I use it for my Russian Tortoise, “Sheldon” . I have bought this for two months now, and it’s great. i bought a bag a few weeks ago, but then didn’t use it.. i opened the bag and poured it in. it was moist a little bit but not dry and you could press down on it and would feel softer than dry bark! GET THIS IF YOU HAVE A TORTOISE
!!!

I bought this for my Asian Forest Scorpion and she seems to love it! She feels right at home!
mychuby (verified owner) –
Use this for my tortoise I like that it has moisture
jackattack123 (verified owner) –
my two hermies love to barry themselves in this and it holds moisture
Dan613 (verified owner) –
When I poured this stuff into my terrarium, I noticed a bunch of small white bugs crawling out of it. I had to clean my cage out and freeze the repti bark, but it does look nice so it was worth it.
Simone22 (verified owner) –
I have used this bark for many years. Tried others, years ago, but always came back to this one. Now I do not try any other substrate in our turtle’s terrarium.
Momma Runner (verified owner) –
This is the best bark for our leopard gecko. She loves it especially when we put a fresh batch.
RedMedic (verified owner) –
Are usually buy coconut bedding for my bearded dragon but there was none available I bought this and it worked out well
Toothlessis4coolpeople (verified owner) –
Reptibark is a good substrate for toothless it holds the humidity very good and he likes to dig in it
Lizardguy_ (verified owner) –
I bought this for my halmahera blue tongue skink and after a bit I noticed little bugs in the wood so now I have to take it all out and do the cleaning process again. This does not hold moisture or humidity for long periods of time it needs to be heavily misted twice a day so if you have an animal that requires really high humidity mix it with Eco earth and make sure that it has no mites before you put it in.

I got this a week ago and so far it’s been great. I have a Russian Tortoise. I was using soil and it got really dusty living in New Mexico with super low humidity. When I got this, it says no dust, which is sort of true. There are little particles in the bag that I didn’t want her breathing in. I wouldn’t exactly call this dust, but it was super small pieces. I used a colander and “strained” out the big pieces from the small. Once in her habitat, there’s been no dust when I stir up the bark even when it gets super dry. She still can burrow in it doesn’t seem to get in her eyes or clog her nose like the soil dust was doing. I bought two huge bags and I think they’ll be lasting a really long time. Hopefully everything stays great!
gizmo and me (verified owner) –
i bought it on line and it was so much cheaper than at the store. almost half price. the delivery was great. so you have to tip the driver but it saved me a trip. will do it again.
Anonymous (verified owner) –
My tortoise loves it! He likes to just dig a hole and cover himself with it… is not messy or powdery… is just what my pet needs.
GardenCentrePixie (verified owner) –
I just opened the bag last night to repot my orchids. The pieces were small enough to act as a great growing matrix for my phalaenopsis, and look very attractive in the containers.
CourtneyVA (verified owner) –
Used this when I had lizards. Good product- smells wonderful, lizards liked it, and attractive. Good quality, and would buy it again.
Maryk98 (verified owner) –
I bought this a month ago and when I first poured it it the tank I saw little brown bugs moving. I had to get new bedding and do a second deep clean. Never will I buy it again
Doxiemomoftwo (verified owner) –
I know this product is for reptiles, but it was recommended to me for making a well draining soil mixture at a much more reasonable price than pre-made mixes. The bark appears to be a very good quality and is working great for my purposes.
Theguyfromchina (verified owner) –
Bought this at 3AM no frog inside the bag I see no problem putting a frog in a bag I speak from experience so were is my frog
Angela N C (verified owner) –
This stuff is great for my box turtles cage. Keeps odor down, plus she loves playing in it
GBonsai (verified owner) –
I mix this into my Bonsi soil mix for drainage. I don’t use the product for animals. Will be buying again.
Nicole is the rudest (verified owner) –
Nicole was the rudest most ignorant person I’ve ever had to deal with as I was buying fish
Whirlwind (verified owner) –
our lizards love to dig in this bedding. I will buy this product again when it is time.
DatsunMaster (verified owner) –
I have tried other types and brands. This is the best for my needs. Less dusty and smells great.
tortoise owner (verified owner) –
My leopard tortoise died because a big piece got stocked in his/hers throat, desert tortoises eat hay, and this substrate has big pieces that end in tiny pieces like if it was hay, I do not recommend this for tortoises, it would be better coconut substrate for them…. but I recommend it for other reptiles that do not eat hay !…
MwMRanch (verified owner) –
I use this pretty consistently for repotting my orchids and it works really well. This product is a lot cheaper than buying potting material specifically designed for orchids.
Campbellosii (verified owner) –
Product is great! I found zero contaminates in it (plastic, metal pieces, etc). Also is the same material as orchid bark, but at about half the price. Just an fyi for you orchid growers.
lizzardguy (verified owner) –
This bark is an ok product it just depends on what you use it for I used it for my Asian Water Dragon until I built him a new vivarium and now I am using those stik on tiles because the clean easier but still a very good product.
TheGecko (verified owner) –
When I purchased this product, other reviews told about crickets burrowing and bugs in it. Every since I bought it, I haven’t had a single problem! Crickets only burrow under habitat decor not under the layers. Mold isn’t a problem because it’s dried wood and doesn’t soak up water easily. I heard from other reviews about bugs that’d show up, but no problem has occurred. It is a great product for leopard geckos or snakes.
izzy827 (verified owner) –
Nice looking and easy for burrowing reptiles. My box turtle loves it!! Also my crested gecko does good with it too. It doesn’t hold a lot of humidity (unless you soak it) but it keeps odors to a minimum, also it adds to the natural look. 🙂
Nicknamesaredumb (verified owner) –
I bought this for my day gecko and it works great. Crickets can’t hide under it and it keeps humidity in nicely. Although not too great for someone trying to have a very realistic habitat, because, its just broken chunks of bark, not mixed with any thing else.
JenGee (verified owner) –
Bought this for my Russian tortoise and he digs it.
ZachHasaGecko (verified owner) –
This sustrate is absolutely perfect for lizards and frogs. I bought a small bag for a 10 gallon tank and the first thing that I realized was the smell! It smells very good for some reason. My crocodile gecko sometimes sprawls out on it because it absorbs heat well. Great product for all reptiles! NOT MEANT FOR HATCHLINGS!
Customer (verified owner) –
I bought this kind of bark for my Anole and it looks great. He walks around on it and has no problems. Worth the Money.
Maryk98 (verified owner) –
I brought this yesterday for my ball python and at first I loved it then the next morning there were BUGS! 2 huge dark brown bugs with white legs. Never will I get this again.
