My turtles really love this turtle dock, they took to it right away. My only problem is the suction cups, 2 out of the 4 won’t suction to the side of the aquarium.
Taco3 (verified owner) –
I got this in the Zoomed 40 Gallon Starter Kit And Taco my hatchling Southern Painted Turtle And I love it! It holds him for now and lowers and raises with the water level! The only problem is he gets stuck in between the plastic sticks that hold the dock up. Luckily I’ve been able to rescue him! Great product overall!! He loves basking!!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My African Sideneck loves it. Purchased in the set back in December but after 11 months I need to replace it. It does not stick to the glass as well therefore causing it to be unsafe for my turtle. Could not find the replacement pieces for the glass.
Nordwind (verified owner) –
My turtle loves it. The dock doesn’t sink at all and it’s really useful.
However, I find that it’s made of a strange material that tiny particles of the dock spread everywhere when cleaning. It’s weird, I don’t know how to describe it. Just tiny, tiny pieces comes off like glitter! You know how glitter gets everywhere? It’s sort of like that.
I don’t know of any other dock though, so it’s sufficient enough. Not an excellent buy, but not terrible either.

The suction cups are hard to get onto the frame and it feels fragile. The turtles like it and im glad I got it on clearance but I don’t feel its worth the original price
MJRP (verified owner) –
I just recently bought my second turtle doc because my turtle got bigger and needed a wider space. But, two days into it, I caught my turtle eating the product and had to remove it. I think this is a great item for smaller turtles, but I am not convinced it is right for bigger turtles.
Summ (verified owner) –
This fits just right on top of the aquarium. Quality material and it looks attractive.
TurtleLuv (verified owner) –
We have had this for well over 6 weeks now and the turtle actually uses it and stays out of the water like the other one we had its great. It floats with the water level (we loose 1/2 inch a day with a/c running) The suction cups go on easy and the turtle has not been able to get them “unstuck” Will be upgrading to a bigger landing pad when we up grade our tank in a few months
Thatfooandy805 (verified owner) –
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this turtle dock a couple weeks ago and two of the suction cups didn’t work and the dock was not sturdy at all. I like the idea and design but I would not recommend anyone to buy this basking dock. There is a lot better looking docks and a lot mor sturdier than this one here.
Dpilot (verified owner) –
Thin plastic and Styrofoam not worth the price. Will fall apart in the saltwater
Basks28 (verified owner) –
Flothing basking area are good for musk turtles or turtles that don’t bask as often if you buy this for a red ear slider it will sink and won’t flot because they are heavy full grown ones so it’s good for turtles that are not so heavy and don’t bask as often
turgsh01 (verified owner) –
I have one of these, had it for over 6 years. The algae spread too much on it and the turtle chewed off a bit of the corner cuz I was gone for a day longer than expected and he got hungry. I normally scrub it with an old toothbrush, works good for the most part, but after a few years, good luck getting that algae off. Suction cups are terrible (gave up on them years ago), I just let the dock roam around wherever it wants to go (but I have filter pumps circulating the water in a way that influences the dock to stay near the light). The 4″ turtle has no issues getting onto the dock and he just loves it (much better than the rocks I used before). Will be buying another one soon. Price is a bit steep for the bigger docks though for a 4-6 year simple product considering how long turtles live for, but it’s far better/safer than using a large rock.
viktuuri (verified owner) –
I bought this thinking it would be a good product but the suction cups don’t even fit on the bracket! There was extra plastic on the ends on my bracket and i couldn’t fit the suction cup to the bracket because of that. It beats the whole purpose. I would avoid this product!
TurtleHero (verified owner) –
I have a turtle dock in my 20 gallon Red Eared Slider tank. It Is good for a smaller turtle type because it only goes up so much. Overall I love my Turtle Dock by Zoo Med. It also makes your tank look really cool.
megggaaan07 (verified owner) –
This worked for the first few months I had my turtles (they were small 3-4″), but after some very good eating my girls weighed it down! As every turtle owner should know the basking area MUST be 100% out of the water. Even the largest size couldn’t hold my two big girls. And after getting a third turtle, this product was out of the question. Although I couldn’t use this for my turtles it actually turned out to make a pretty good temporary hide for my salamanders! Which is the only reason it got two stars. This may work for hatchlings and small juveniles for a little while, but I’d rather buy something my turtles can use all of their life.
JodiVB (verified owner) –
I have been through all 3 sizes of the turtle dock. Our Cooter turtle “Fred” outgrew the small, actually broke the medium in half, and has now graduated to the large. Next step is his own bedroom! But he likes the dock and it provides a great place for him to get out of the water. Only problem I found is when cleaning the underside, it apparently wears away over time if you clean it too well! But ZooMed was great about replacing it!
DantheMan (verified owner) –
I bought this turtle dock for my turtle and he loves it. It may not be the best looking but it does its job great. The turtle can easily get to dry land. If you need something for your turtle you should definitely get this product.
Dinosauregg (verified owner) –
It floats well enough, but does not absorb heat like a regular rock would. Algae constantly grows on it and it is fairly hard to clean.
Braniff (verified owner) –
after a few months it became waterlogged and wouldn’t support a 6″ turtle on the large size dock.
2 Large docks stacked wouldn’t support a 4″ and a 6″ size turtles …
Rachel23 (verified owner) –
I have this dock for my young turtle. Has lasted the 8 months so far. He’s about 3″ now, so it’s time for a new one as I only bought the small. Quality is great. No dissintegrating at all. No issues with biting the dock (but cuddle bone helps curb that for those with issues). Easy for hatchlings to climb up, keeps full body out of water. I took the suction cups off the bottom and put the horizontal bar at the top to avoid turtle getting stuck. I love this dock, it adjusts with water level so always the right height. Also, doesn’t take up precious swimming room like many basking area methods. Would definatly recommend this product to anyone with turtles.
slabv (verified owner) –
It works well as a starter setup with small turtles. It can’t hold the weight of larger, full-grown red ear sliders. Algae forms on the surface really fast and it’s very difficult to clean because of all the crevices on the surface. My 2 RES likes to chew on the edges and underside of the dock sometimes.
Tina66 (verified owner) –
I bought this for my son’s turtle, and the little guy loves it.The other dock we had was too small.
GraceRacer (verified owner) –
I bought this a month ago for my hatchling Musk Turtle it was easy for him to get on and off, I used the top Suction cups but left the bottom ones unattached so he wouldn’t get stuck, and it floated good too… but unfortunately My Musk Turtle started eating it underneath:( thankfully he processed it good but I’m glad I noticed and ended up getting him a plastic floating dock instead. So just be cautious if you decide to buy it
wewimawsome (verified owner) –
the dock is O.K. because it takes ALOT of space away from your turtles swimming water and is really ugly.
Self adjusting system works but it uses the suction cups and the cups start to turn a brown color after about a month.
Hunter567 (verified owner) –
My turtle kept getting stuck under the dock and couldn’t get out
Klickalick (verified owner) –
For the price its a pretty good dock. My turtles had a bad habit of pulling the suction cups away from the sides. Overall it does what its supposed to do.
Mpthomps (verified owner) –
I have a baby Peninsula Cooter and he loves basking on his floating dock! It rises and falls with the water level (hence the “floating”) and supports him well enough to keep him completely out of the water. It looks great in the tank and doesn’t take up much space. Much better than piling a bunch of rocks in the corner and using half the tank’s space. He sleeps on the incline edge and hangs on to the plastic poles so he can watch what’s going on outside his habitat. I definitely recommend this product to anyone starting out with a turtle. I’m even thinking about buying anther one for the other end of the tank!
iacccatluver (verified owner) –
I recently recieved a poor little yellow bellied slider to baby sit for the summer. Not knowing anything about turtles, I spent a lot of time researching what they need and such. We originally bought Sampson the Exo Terra Turtle Bank, but whenever he tried to get on it, the platform tilted so far he couldnt stay on, and the magnets were terrible. We bought him this little dock because of the ramp. He loves hanging out on this, and it doesnt tilt half as much as the other one! Awesome product.
Kabv (verified owner) –
I just bout this a few weeks ago and the suction cups on the bottom to stay sectioned on under the water. I had to put a heavy rock up Against the bottom suction cups for them to stay put.
Matt2615 (verified owner) –
I bought this for my red eared slider about a year ago it has become too small i will have to upgrade to the large size because now he can pull the suction cups off with his claws. THe ramp doesn’t go down in the tank as i thought it would which makes it harder for my turtle to get up on.
Turtlenate (verified owner) –
its a waste of money. we have two turtles and they both did not use it. It sinks when they are on it and it does not hold there wieght. it also make the tank look cheap.
jman1 (verified owner) –
it is great for small turtles not 4 inch ones but otherwise its perfect a turtle owner must have
amv723 (verified owner) –
This Turtle Dock is GREAT for my two map turtles. I had a smaller dock , but they got to big for that, so I upgraded to this one. It looks AWESOME in my 75 gallon tank. Plus this thing is so huge so it gives them a LOT of basking space. This is the greatest dock ever made, I really do like it. To anyone who has turtles this dock is PERFECT. Great For the Price!
Carm (verified owner) –
I thought this would be a good temporary solution since my last dock broke, I gave this a try and it was a disappointment! not only is it cheaply made, but it isn’t versatile! the holes are only on one side of the dock which made it awkward for my 36 gal bowed front tank. I had to stick in against the front bowed part and have it on my rock styled filter just so my turtle could go on it. The suction cups kept coming off, it was harder to stick the bottom ones back on since it was awkward to get under the ramp. Then my poor turtle went on it and it broke! The plastic U shaped device that holds it up broke! I was upset since it couldn’t be fixed and to make things worse, i discovered the bottom had this nasty decolorizing going on, and then i realized i payed over 30$ freaking dollars for STYROFOAM that didn’t do what it was promised to do. Needless to say I am very upset and I would never purchase that ever again! Im making my own basking dock now for my poor turtle.
KDEE (verified owner) –
i got this for my firebelly toads. they would try to get behind it and get stuck, after awhile you need to buy a new one because it starts to get soft after being in water for so long.
johnk (verified owner) –
if you have a small turtle and i mean small this would be a good buy.but for anybosy with a turtle with a shell length of 5 inches and up should consider somthing else had to take product back as soon as i got it home.my turtle is rather small and the dock sank.the suction cups stayed on but the dock sank. looks really good though.not very sturdy tips over easy
Schmitty2 (verified owner) –
I used to have the medium sized dock and it worked great for small light turtles. After a while though it started to let off this sandy stuff and held onto grime. I cleaned it reguarly too. I think it does work for a while though.
ilovereptiles (verified owner) –
I had three RES’s and they loved to bask on it in the heat.
Miaisme (verified owner) –
I thought this was great in the beginning because it floats, so I won’t have to adjust it up high when I clean the tank and slowly move it down until time to clean it. But no, it’s terrible. Don’t buy it. It’s covered in algae and it’s impossible to get it off, even with bleach. I have done everything i can to clean it and I just gave up and I bought a floating log, which is much better. The bottom of this product, when scrubbed, puts off little gritty things. Don’t waste your money. Find something else.
Katie7 (verified owner) –
My turtles love it. They bask on it all day. When I first got it, I did not think it would hold up because my turtles can get pretty feisty. It has held up fine.
iloveturtles (verified owner) –
My 8 month oldred ear slider turtle loves this dock he loves to bask on it it is perfect but not to good for big turtles
i would reccomend this 100%
turtleman (verified owner) –
I got this for my 2 turtles and they both love it but it’s super hard to clean. Also the little suction cups are kinda hard to snap on and then once they’re on the weight of my turtles can knock them off.
Turtle bear (verified owner) –
my friend Brian and Shawna got a smaller turtle dock for their new small turtle.
Their turtle looked very comfortable on the turtle dock, and likes to sit on it quite a bit.
I purchased this turtle dock for my neighbor, and I don’t know them very well. I just knocked on their door and gave it to them.
turtlelover101 (verified owner) –
I have this for my pet turtle. I have many troubles when i have to clean it and i just recently noticed that it is falling apart. My turtle loves it but he always falls off because its not sturdy.
So if your going to buy this i recommended you buy more then one.

I have a one year old RES that never used the dock. It couldnt hold him even with the large dock The dock could have looked much nicer if it had green instead of tan
john18 (verified owner) –
Bought this product a week ago and my turtles love it. It is very good. The only problem is that I think it is a little hard for my turtles to get on it.
repticman (verified owner) –
I finaly saved enough money to buy 2 large docks. One of them was almost cracked in half, and the other one had the weight almost falling out. They are also kindof of ugly. To me the fast growing algea makes the look ten times better. I want to add that hey are sending me 2 new ones with know charge.
OboePiano (verified owner) –
I bought one of these for my 20-gallon fire-bellied toad tank, and I love it. It looks nice, provides a nice platform for the toads, and is inexpensive. The only thing that I dislike about it is how it collects algae. Once algae collects on it, you can remove most of it, but you will not get all of it. Overall, this is a great product.
Carebear31 (verified owner) –
I wasn’t sure this would be wide enough for my 6in. Painted turtle but it is with room to turn around. So easy for her to climb on and having no base gives her extra swimming room.
choctawchica (verified owner) –
Our turtle is just about 4 inches and this was our upgrade from a much smaller dock and although he uses it ALOT he also bites at the submerged ramp. So we are constantly fishing out pieces of this dock. It is very annoying and we don’t think that it can be very good for him. We have had it for about 2-3 months and there is about a 3 in by 1 in section missing now. We wont be buying any other floating ramps/docks made with the same material.
Dave113 (verified owner) –
This works great, I got it for my 2 red eared sliders in a 55 gallon tank. They are both 4″, and go on it all the time. They either go on the ramp, or all the way onto it to bask.
chiquitagirl (verified owner) –
I bought the turtle dock so that my red ear sliders could have a place to rest upon. On initial installation, all seemed to go well until a week into its use. After a week my turtles found that the dock was tasty enough to start eating, and even though I fed them more than enough they still continued to eat the dock until it was completely gone except for the plastic thing in the middle. This dock is a great idea, might want to revise what its made of and perhaps make it lest tasty to a turtle.
Obiwan (verified owner) –
i bought a medium turtle dock when my two RES were very small. Now that they are about 5 inches the dock is submersing slightly when they lie on it to bask, but still stays afloat so only their feet are wet. My turtles really love this dock at least one of them is on it at all times. the only things i don’t like about it are that the paint job isn’t as cool looking as the one on the box and the bottom suction cups always come off. the dock does gather algae, though a toothbrush does easily take care of it. i have tried other products and have found this one to be the best quality. i plan to buy my turtles the large size dock in a month or so. Again, i am very pleased with this product.
RosyBalboa (verified owner) –
I have 2 yellow bellied sliders. One is almost a yr old about 2 in. and the another is almost 2 yrs about 4in. They both share a tank and i have had the small dock for about a year. They both love it and it works great for them to get out and bask on. They are both getting bigger and my older turtle knows how to pull the cups off the glass with her claws so we are upgrading to the medium. Even with the small they both have room and it looks great with our tank enviroment.
Trisha (verified owner) –
This item is fine for a small turtle (1-3in) but for large turtle its not good when my turtle gets on it, it sinks and my turtle slides back off into the water it also floats so when any weight is put on it water covers the top so the turtle dosnt stay dry
shygquy (verified owner) –
I have had the turtle dock (medium) for about 3 months now, ever since I got my turtles. So far it’s great! It flows to the top all the time and can withstand some weight put on it. However, I do find it hard for the turtles jump on the dock, so I have devise a way to just lower the dock a little bit so the turtles can jump on it easier. Just buy (or find) a piece of small flat rock and put it on the front edge of the dock. That way it will weigh down the dock a little and the turtles can move onto it. Overall a great product, but like I said the dock is pretty expensive.
TurtleLoverAdam (verified owner) –
I recently bought this and it’s amazing! My turtles bask on it and they enjoy the rock. The rumors about the paint chipping off is true! But it hasn’t happened for me besides once. In order to reduce this from gapping just handle with care. The 4 cups that was included to stick on the glass was very hard to put on. There’s pros and cons. PROS: It’s very stable and doesn’t move often. CONS: Very hard to put on at first (Takes about 5-50minutes) Also there is algae growing on mine but it’s pretty easy to clean so far. I also would say small is very good for turtles that are 1-4″ Medium is good for 2-7″ and if I’m correct large is 3-12″ It all depends on your fish tank and turtle shell length! I’ll keep you updated see you next month the star so far is 4! Here’s a picture of my tank do far 😀
AfricanTurtle (verified owner) –
I got this for my turtle, not realizing what it would be like. It is only suitable for baby turtles. My turtle still likes to hide under it, and it gives her a sense of security. I do have a slight algae problem, but with an old toothbrush and weekly cleanings (or more frequent than that), it should be good. Suction cups don’t work at all, but it can float around.
Pw295 (verified owner) –
Little tough to get the suction cups on the dock but other than that it works pretty good. I thought my turtle might be too small at first but he climbed up just fine
leopardgeckodude (verified owner) –
I bought this for my tadpole and ones he grew legs he started going on and now he is a frog and in his own terrarium! Anyways, great!
Chibiturtle (verified owner) –
This is a great floating dock, my turtles love it, it’s very easy to keep clean, and they have no trouble getting onto it. It also seems to last a long time and rises and sinks with the water level. Just make sure to rinse it off before putting it into the tank to keep the water from becoming temporarily cloudy. Zoo Med creates some wonderful products! ^_^
Anonymous (verified owner) –
This dock is alright. My turtle (baby…about the size of a quarter) can barely get up on it. The pieces sometimes fall OFF of the raft. I would recommend this product but beware of trouble.
Shel (verified owner) –
I used this product in my 10 gallon tank and it does fit well and the suction cups do hold. Because it’s made to look like a rock, cleaning is very difficult. Too many crevices to effectively clean it well. It ends up looking quite ugly after a few months.
987 (verified owner) –
I have a Two year old Red Eared Slider, and she absolutely loves this product! It works very well, and the suction cups on the side ensure it does not float around the tank!
Emily13237 (verified owner) –
I have had one, size large, for my turtle for two years now and never had problems. it looks great and blends into his aquarium. He is a very heavy, large turtle now and need something durable that will hold his weight up and this turtle dock did the trick. The only problems I have ever had with it is that my turtle kind of tilts when on it. I looked a lot of places for a durable basking dock but I had to return all due to my turtles size-(the size of a regular dinner plate). This one was perfect for his size!
Hatter (verified owner) –
I will never buy this product ever again.
Sleach78 (verified owner) –
My turtle loved it and it worked well for a while, until he started eating it. Had to take it out immediately.

It’s big enough but hard to put together, and extremely wobbly
Jeanlucturtlekid (verified owner) –
I have the small size in my 40 gallon breeder for my 7th month old eastern painted turtle that is about 3.5-4 inchs, he fits on fine, and jt works great. I did place a small rock on it because it was floating slightly high, but besides that it works great and my turtle loves it. I was skeptical for how he was going to get on it, seeing that other reviews said there turtle couldn’t, but in 2 days he was basking perfectly so i can’t complain.
AnimalLuver4Lif (verified owner) –
During the first month and a half while having this dock, it was a pleasure to my turtles and was excellent during that time. I had read the reviews and figured “Hey, why not?”. So I bought it at a low cost….
Then the flaws came…
-Algae or some green bacteria stuff starting growing (hassle to clean)
-I just spent about half an hour scrubbing algae off the dock when I realized there were cracks on the bottom and it looked as if the dock would split with enough pressure.
-Plus, when I purchased my dock, I only got 2 suction cups, so I had to use duct tape as a replacement.
Honey bunn (verified owner) –
This works great for younger and/or smaller turtles that don’t weigh as much. But the dock doesn’t quite hold the turtle as well as it used to once they get bigger! Worked well for my boy for 6 years up until he got too heavy and i had to replace his dock with something more durable.
maze (verified owner) –
this product is good for the money, but if you are dealing with turtles…i recomend just buying the large, even though it comes in three sizes. it will be more worth it seeing as how the other sizes, even though they may fit your turtle, will sink under the weight of the animal,
but if you are dealing with other reptiles or amphibians this floating dock will get the job done well.
blooskys21 (verified owner) –
I bought this for my baby Mississippi Map turtle. He really likes it, but I had to show him how to use it his first time. It is very nice and acts as shelter and a resting place for my turtle and catfish.
charlieturtler11 (verified owner) –
I have 3 red ear sliders, 1 Yellow Belly, 1 Red Belly, and 1 Chicken Turtle. All of them love their turtle docks I have 3. YOU MUST make sure you buy the right size because if not your turtle(s) will sink the dock if it’s too small. Recommended only for baby to young turtles. For adults you’ll definitely wanna think about trying something else because he will most likely outgrow it. Perfect for my turtles!!
MrQuigly325 (verified owner) –
This dock is awsome… I’ve hade if for a year almost and now it’s time for a new one… But when you have for some time it will grow algae.
KBlack2595 (verified owner) –
have had the small size for just about year now and it ok its great for him to rest on but the section cups dont stick to the glass wall after a long time not shure if this is just mine but my red ear turel has goten it all the way off the glass more than once and i have to push realy hard to make shure it stays on and evan then it dosent always stay on other than that its a great prodit and might be upgrading to a biger size soon
Laurentha (verified owner) –
I purchased the medium dock shortly after they came out and was quite disappointed. The plastic bracket seemed quite flimsy. I mainly wanted to use it as a ramp to get to the basking platform and it worked well for that but after a few months broke in half. My turtle is only 4″ and is full grown so it’s not that she was too heavy.
Rapper (verified owner) –
This is a great product. There are a few flaws in it though. The suction-cups do not hold well for my curious turtle and it gets dirt easily. It also breaks on the holes where the 2 metal rods go through, but what can you expect. It is the best thing I have found for my turtle, and it works exceptionally well for frogs and other aquatic animals.
thefishcarer (verified owner) –
holds my turtles very good. Mine love to sleep up there and relax. This is perfect for turtles. Buy this now!
noojoke (verified owner) –
I have two red earsliders that are 9 and 11 inches wide. They are 6 1/2 years old. So I have to buy the large dock. The docks work great. However, the support beams are made of cheat plastic. They break so easily. Dont get me wrong, this product is the best docking station for my turtles… however, the manufacture poorly made their product. It is soooo unfair to have bought three docks in the past 12 months.
BeaK (verified owner) –
I’ve had my red-eared slider for almost ten years, and I’ve been using this model of turtle dock ever since I got him. I started out with the small size, when he was about 3 or 4 inches, and as he got bigger, I upgraded to the medium. I did have some issues with my turtle eating the platform when he was younger, but when I replaced it with a new one the problem stopped (it may have been more of a boredom issue). I haven’t found any issue with it holding my turtle’s weight, so long as he gets himself fully onto the platform, and he is about 6, 6 1/2 inches long. He loves it very much and often spends most of the day napping and sunning himself on it. My only complaints would be that it never seems to stay stuck to the wall (although it may just be that the platform I have now, I’ve had for about 4 years), and that it can be difficult to clean algae off of. All in all, the pros far outweigh the cons, and I will continue to use it for my slider.
Cakeman08 (verified owner) –
I bought this and its just horrible. It does not stay to the wall of my tank. When the turtles would get on it, they would flip over. I absolutely DO NOT recommend it. The material feels soooo cheap!!!
Ryokox3 (verified owner) –
I bought this thinking it would be great for my 9″red-ear slider in the 110 gal tank. She had so much problems trying to get onto it, she couldn’t get a grid on the ramp. When she finely made it up, she was to heavy for it and the dock just tilted everywhere and she slide right off. I had to make a stand under it so it would not tilt.
ja8319 (verified owner) –
This product is not something that can be used for large turtles. We have a large Red Earred Slider Female (about 8-9 inches long) and while she could fit up on it, it was awkward. I revereted to 12×12 pavers and am still looking for something lighter weight to use. The product is also difficult to clean. As you may know, turtles make a mess and although we use a powerful pond filter in her tank, this product was a cleaning nightmare. It is texturized and difficult to “scrub” because the texture would come off. Plus it is hollow and thus dirty water would get inside and was difficult/impossible to empty and clean well. It was nice when it was new but like I said, cleaning it is a nightmare and it is NOT for large turtles.

I have a baby red eared slider and he loves the floating dock. It has provided him an excellent place to bask and he sleeps there at night. I’ve been very satisfied with the quality and peformance. I can see where it may not work as well with larger turtles because of the suction cups.

This is the second dock I have purchased. The first one lasted for five years before the suction cups wore out and it got too hard to clean. My turtle loves it and it gives him ample room to enjoy the sun. Very durable and easy for the turtle to climb up on.

i have a small veiled chemeleon. i stuck this thing on the wall of her tank, near the lights and she loves to sit there and bask. i did have to buy her more vines so she climb up to it, but it was worth it because Nellie loves it!!

This island was a very awesome purchase. It came prior to the filter, so it had to be modified after the fact. However, not many things can work properly prior to having to change it and still work after modifying it. The resin it’s made out of is easy to work with and it looks nice.

I just got this product for my small aquatic turtle April yesterday. No algue** grows on just as long as you clean your turtles tank as you should. If you have a big sized aquatic turtle and are looking into buying this product, you should purchase the LARGE or MEDIUM size. There is NOTHING wrong with this product… I would recommend this to ANYONE with an aquatic turtle 🙂

This is my second one. Had the other one for a few yrs really didn’t realize I hadn’t replaced it. Then with the new one it was obvious. We had no issues with the other one just over the yrs the green algae was really difficult to clean off. Green algae is no fault of the product just part of having an aquatic tank.

We have tried different dock for our turtles, and this is the best! We tried Turtle Landing – http://www.petsupplycanada.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753970&cp=2767037.2769284 – it is not good for big turtles, goes under water, doesn’t float.
This dock holds all three turtles together. Very easy to get on it – it has a am that goes into water, so our big turtle doesn’t have to climb (what she has to do with another one), just simply walk from water on the dock. It is not too hard to clean. I like the color of the small dock more than the big dock. For some reason they have different colors. I would recommend this dock.

I have 2 of these products, one in the largest size and another in the medium size. I have 2 red eared sliders and 1 boxing turtle. The 2 red eared sliders are in the same tank and both are able to bask appropriately on the same dock. The boxer is in another tank and has his own. I’ve had these docks for a very long time and are still very good. I’d recommend this to anyone with a turtle of any size.

my turtle loves this dock, and I’m happy with it too. I like how it looks natural, like a piece of driftwood. It’s pretty sturdy too, but i wouldn’t reccomend it to turtles that exceed the length of 8 inches, because the dock sinks down a bit, but its excellent for smaller turtles!- i have to say that the suction cups arnt that good, but they work just fine if you try to make them stick to the glass with force and a tid bit of water. overall a good product for turtles.
Ingreenn (verified owner) –
I’ve purchased 3 of these now. My turtle is pretty aggressive with them, so they don’t last more than about 6 months or so. The suction cups can also become brittle and not stick. They are replaceable separately, so that can extend the life of your dock.
Bseeber (verified owner) –
We have a 20 year-old painted turtle in a 30-gallon aquarium, and whenever he would try to get on this dock to sit in the light, it sank, putting him back into the water.
alyssa123456789 (verified owner) –
i would reccomend this produce. algae does grow quick but is easy to scrub off with a toothbrush while cleaning the tank. ramp on the end makes it easier for turtles to get on.
OhFod (verified owner) –
When I first got the dock, I was very skeptical. “How can this thing hold the weight of my turtle? Won’t it break easily? I think my turtle will eat it…”
Psh, I was wrong…
My turtle at first had a hard time getting up on it, but now she does it with such ease (and much better than the last very poor ramp I had before). Even after she has grown a bit, it still holds her weight and doesn’t sink when she gets on it.
It hasn’t broken. The underwater suction cups have only come undone when my turtle is very persistent to get them off.
I think it is the only thing my turtle hasn’t tried to eat. Or if she has, I haven’t noticed because it hasn’t had bites out of it.
The ridges are easy to clean – GET A TOOTHBRUSH . The out of water part barely gets dirty anyway.
My turtle spends a lot of time basking and she loves this dock.

I have a 5 inch Female Yellow Bellied Slider Turtle. Over the years, when she was smaller, it was a good dock and it last a very long time… thats why im giving it a 3 star. The bad side is it barely holds my turtle. Therefore, its not good for growing turtles.
TurtleMom (verified owner) –
We have used these docks throughout our turtles life. When he was small they were great, now that he is bigger they sink like a rock!
We bought the large dock to accomodate him, the length of the dock was/is great! However the foam should probably be thicker because the dock is the same thickness as the small and mini and so it sinks and does not distribute the weight evenly.
We ended up using our medium dock on top of the large dock and since we’ve done that he basks all the time because the 2 docks together support his weight. All in all we have been very happy, however we have had to replace suction cups (it’s not because the cups are bad it’s because they get hard with being in the water 24/7, and recently our bracing bracket has shattered..
The only major down side for us is that the bracket shattered and so we have to replace the entire dock not just that piece which can get a bit spendy!

I have 3 turtles and all of them despise this product. They are either all very gravitationally challenged, or the product just isn’t made well. Every time any of them gets on top of it they either fall off or are too busy trying to balance to actually enjoy it. I was looking forward for a nice item that my turtles could enjoy basking on; instead I got an algae magnet that my pets justifiably fear. I would not recommend this by any means.
Boberta (verified owner) –
This was purchased for a very active Little Red-eared Slider that we took into Rescue. He has disconnected the suction cups every time we reconnect them, making the platform unstable. Might be ok for a turtle who isn’t so active.
Jfer (verified owner) –
We have a very young turtle – no more than 6 months old. We got the dock about 2 months ago, and it has been the best purchase for his 20 long tank – he is about the size of my palm now. I do see it being a problem when he gets bigger, as the dock is not wide enough to hold a large turtle, but for a juvenile it works great. We have had no issues with algae (regular changing of the water and tank cleaning is a must) or with the sturdiness being an issue. The only issue we have had with it is our turtle was playing underneath the dock and pulled the suction cups off of the wall – in the process he got stuck between the bars and I had to help him out. We make it an issue to check on the suction every few days to make sure there is a tight seal. Overall I would definitely buy this product again – our turtle loves to bask on it, and it is the perfect size for our tank.

I’ve used this product for over 4 years and as my turtle has grown so have the platforms. I have found it to be adequate for its intended purpose and that is to provide a basking area for my turtle. My turtle is quite large now about 9 inches in length and quite heavy. One platform is not sufficient to bear her entire weight and I have to use 2 large platforms laid side by side. She’s able to climb on them without too much strain. As a previous reviewer noted the suctions cups that are constantly underwater lose their suction cup ability after entended use. The down side to this is the platforms don’t come with spare suction cups. I also replace these platforms every 6 months because of the algae buildup even though I clean them every time I clean the tank which is once a once.

Great product! I bought one for my turtles when I first got them, they were the size of a quarter so I just got the small. Now they are the size of my hand (4 years later) and I still have the small. I’m upgrading to a large as now I have a 75 gal. tank and both turtles can barely hang on to the dock since they are so big. But it’s a great product and I would recommend to anyone with red ear sliders. It does seem to collect algae fairly easily but it’s also very easy to just wipe off. 🙂
YellowTurtle (verified owner) –
I bought this for my Painted Turtle, and it looks very nice and he loves it. He sleeps on it, basks on it, and even eats on it.
However, even after just a couple years, algae has stained it green even after cleaning, (it’s so hard to clean!) and has crack right through the middle.

This is my second time purchasing this dock and I knew it was bad the after the first purchase but we needed something temporary. This time around, the dock arrived broken right in half. I do not recommend ever.

I bought this product for my turtle & I am INFURIATED. My turtle was actually able to BITE through the dock & ended up eating – fair amount of the material before I noticed. I hope that he can pass it on his own & It’ll he okay but that is not something a turtle owner likes to see!!!!
MnTurdy (verified owner) –
I have the large size one for my red eared slider. I don’t use the suction cup setup though. I have a large metal basket upside down on my tank and I have the dock loosely tied to the basket. It can’t float away from the basking light and it can go up and down with the water level. I can keep the water level completely full with this setup. I found four of these baskets for $3 each at a yard sale. The picture is of a 55 gallon tank. This dock is excellent, my Turdy loves it. Just toss the suction cup setup and tie it to something outside of the tank, or find yourself some of these awesome metal baskets!
TurtleandFishGirl (verified owner) –
I have a small and medium turtle, I bought this so they would be able to bask. The larger turtle ended up being slightly larger then the platform and started to attack it and eat bits of it. I would recommend this to people whose turtles are smaller then 3.5inches. Even with the larger platform, it was too small.
laceyblonde (verified owner) –
I have this and the largest black turtle dock they make of the same brand. This one began sinking with my female turtle who is now about 8-9 inches long and weighs a bit, so I got the larger one. I recommend this one for turtles up to around 7 inches large or else they will not be able to bask and be fully dry. Good product for the price.

I have a yellow belly slider that I’ve had since April 2011 that was the size of a 50 cent piece when he was given to me as a gift. He has grown A LOT and is about 6/7 inches from the top of his shell (by his head) to the back of his shell. He lives in a 29 gallon tank now and I believe he’s still growing =). I got the small turtle dock first and he LOVED it, always sun bathed. Once he got bigger and grew out of the small dock, I got the medium turtle dock and that’s what he still has. Now that he’s so big, the medium isn’t keeping him out of the water and he has a hard time getting on top of it. He somewhat submerges it when he’s completely on top. I love the turtle dock; it’s a good price, my turtle loves it. Except they need to make bigger things for bigger turtles. I see a lot of small things, but not big. Turtles don’t stay small forever!

this turtle dock is amazing plus it comes in 3 difrent sizes wow can you belive that some docks dont evan fit in a small tank but this one duse and my turtle loves it and he enjoys it but agle grows on it so thats that and its a pain in the neck to take it off

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My turtle it’s so happy with you table. Excellent products

The water holds it up so when your water goes down, It starts going down with the water too. But the turtle still gets on it anyway, so it does what it supposed to do
MsMinnaMouse (verified owner) –
I don’t like this product. It’s ugly, it’s a magnet for dirt and grime and it falls apart after a short time and starts to sink.
HappyTurtleGirl (verified owner) –
I purchased the medium sized dock when I first bought my Turtle. (I’ve had him for 5 years now) He’s full grown and it still holds his weight because he is only about 7 or 8 inches long. It’s easy to clean if you don’t let debris grown on it. However, after about a year and a half, the suction cups that are in the water are now stiff and are useless. If this device used different suction cups, I would feel a little better recommending it. However, I still use it for lack of a better alternative. It still gets the job done.
minizoomomma (verified owner) –
I bought this dock 6 months ago. my turtle loves it!. have not had any problems with it. I use it as a ramp to climb into a plexiglass box that i built so my turtle could climb out of the tank and bask in. It floats great and he is about 4inches now.I have no problem with algae at all,but only the bottom of the ramp is in the water. I would recommend this.
testudo (verified owner) –
id avoid this product if i were you. if you can manage to get the suction cups attached to the bracket your lucky. even after i got it in the tank it fell of a week later. my turtle could not stand on it and for some reason he kept trying to EAT it. i would recomend this if you have a SMALL turtle because it will sink easly if its to big
heymo (verified owner) –
I’ve had a turtle dock for a year now, everything about it is great, comes in different sizes which is a plus, the only downfall is that the side that goes into the water turned green, i don’t know if it’s just mine, because of the vitamins i feed my turtles, the leftovers might change the color, but beside that it’s really great!
sarsar204 (verified owner) –
works great i think that every turtle owner should have one

in just going to right off the bat that i have purchased the small version of this for my baby red eared slider turtle and she love it but she seems to think it’s a bed lol she sleeps on it and when she wakes up she dives into the water and eats like a pig lol overall it’s a great product for baby turtles. if you have baby turtles don’t hesitate to purchase as it is well worth it if you want your turtles to be happy. note this is not ment for larger turtles the big sizes are simply for big tanks and more room on the dock for your turtle. pros 1. easy to set up 2. floats great 3. turtles love it cons 1. it’s kinda hard to put cups on the dock. also the dock makes the tank look great
Karenismydaddy (verified owner) –
This product is cheap, gross, and not sturdy at all. My turtle couldn’t even find a way to get on the dock. But when he did he was very uncomfortable. Turtles like to hide under stuff. But when he did the suction cups came off. If you care about your turtles comfort, I would not suggest this product.
Teter11 (verified owner) –
This was a great thing when my turtle was small but not that he’s much bigger it doesn’t work so well. He always tries to swim behind it and then the bottom become unattached. It’s fine for small pets but once they get bigger it’s best to upgrade.
cbdb (verified owner) –
My turtle chewed right though this product. It is made out of poor material. It floats, but the suction cups kept coming off.I would not recomend this product.
zuvvy (verified owner) –
My hatchling red ear slider loves this product. It saves a lot of swimming space because it floats, don’t need to stack space hogging bricks or stones. I don’t use the bottom two suction cups because my hatchling keeps wedging himself between the dock and glass. I don’t want him to drown.
turtlechick (verified owner) –
my turtles love this thing! they bask on it and sleep on it together its soo cute! they also jump on and off it and i have had it for a few months now it sill looks brand new! i got the small sized one and they both can still lay in it their about 3 inches maybe 4.
DesertTurtlefan (verified owner) –
Great product I only wish it was larger -my turtle is getting too large to be supported by it.
Hollie (verified owner) –
My poor turtle could never stand on this thing for more than 5 minutes without the suctions coming off of the glass. It was HORRIBLE!
SparkleTwice27 (verified owner) –
This is a very nice turtle dock. But there is only one problem, the top 2 suction cups won’t stick onto the aquarium. Other than that my 2 yellow belly sliders love to go on the dock.
Ace0205 (verified owner) –
Did not receive suction cups in box! Not able to use!
Lauren 244 (verified owner) –
I bought this along with my red eared slider from petsupplycanada and my turtle couldn’t even sit on the dock.
oakfeathers (verified owner) –
I bought the smallest dock, because I only have a 10 gal. aquarium. It is an odd color, and the black metal braces stand out in a light colored environment. Even so, it worked fine when the turtle was smaller, but he has grown quickly. Now he is almost a year old and is too wide to sit on it without falling off. But it still works as a feeding station. I would recommend not wasting money on smaller tank and dock but go for the larger one to begin with. After several months of use, the suction cups still are holding fine. These red eared sliders grow much faster than I expected.
LuvPebbles (verified owner) –
My turtle loves this floating rock! she doesn’t use the ramp much as she is so active and likes climbing! have had the product since valentines day however it started to grow algae that wont come off! and I clean the tank frequently.
TXTurtleLover (verified owner) –
It floats great and I have no complaints. If you’re looking for a good platform for a turtle I recommend it 100%. Teeny, tiny baby turtles don’t go good with this dock because they can get stuck between the plastic bar and the tank.
turtlelover83 (verified owner) –
this dock is not worth your money!! the paint comes off when you clean it with a scubber to get the
dirt off!!! paint is pretty much what the dock is
made of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 4 inch long turtle. She like to bask on it and really love the dock.
sarahmmmmmm (verified owner) –
My red eared slider started chewing it a couple of weeks after i got this dock. It was a waste of 30$, and its not even good foam.
Bowser (verified owner) –
I bought the medium-sized one for my two red-eared sliders. When they were smaller, they used to love climbing on top of it. When they got to be about 4-5 inches long however, they were too strong for the dock and after too many times of pulling themselves on it, the dock eventually tore apart from the hooks. I think they also took a few bites out of it and after a while, the suction cups don’t work well. Also, if you put a heating lamp overtop of it, algae can grow fairly quickly and it becomes hard to scrub off without taking pieces of the dock with you.
KsZoo (verified owner) –
This dock worked great the first time I used it. Then at the end of the week I got algae on the end of the dock. So I took it out and used many different brushes to clean it off…Nothing worked. My single turtle can float on the dock but as soon as I put it back in the water it goes lopsided.
resdude (verified owner) –
This turtle dock is great for red eared sliders. Mine loves to bask on it. The medium holds him well, he’s about 5 or 6 inches. He has no trouble climbing onto it and it floats perfectly. It is a must have for aquatic turtle owners.
MLML (verified owner) –
I bought this turtle dock, but quickly found out that even the largest dock won’t hold a large turtle. These docks are good for small to medium-sized turtles only. If you are purchasing one of these for a smaller turtle, then they do work really well and the suction cups hold up fairly well. The bottom two suction cups on mine quit working after a while, but I think they could have been replaced. Our turtle outgrew this dock quickly and we had to move on to something sturdier, but overall I would recommend this dock.
Wilsonthevollyball (verified owner) –
I am a costumer and when i baught my turtle dock i put it in my tank and my turtal could not even stand on it it was so bad i would not recomend that you buy this thing
iliketurtles (verified owner) –
the dock is perfect for my turtle it comes in different sizes. the over all appearance is good but on the box it shows the dock as a tan color but mine is black with “green plants” planted on them. and the suction cups are a little big but you can hide them with plants and it fits perfectly over my filter.

So A year Ago I Purchase an extremely beautiful brown model from my local store the box indicated it was made in Mexico that was extremely beautiful detailed very well made, The Mexican one look extremely beautiful like a stone designer fancy style on my tank . It was time for a replacement of a dock since my little babies used it for 2 years
HarriettesMommy (verified owner) –
Looking at this dock it the store, it looks pretty good. Getting it home in the tank was a different story. It was kinda a pain to put the suction cups on the platic bars. It’s not very sturdy. They aren’t very wide and when my turtle sat on it, it’d sink to the bottom of the tank! Algea (that was no where else in the tank) would grow on it quickly. The only really positive thing I’d say about it is that the suction cups work well.
Wolfdreamer (verified owner) –
This basking area is so simple in design, its silly. My turtle lays beneath it, and on it. Its easy to clean and never needs reposistioning. Its ideal for any turle, and size tank, as it floats just like a pier. It is secured to the tank wall. You and your turtle friends will love it.
Heavenzfinest (verified owner) –
My fiancé and step-son purchased this for our red eared turtle, and what can I say? He loves it! He hops on the log quite often to relax and even hides under it from time to time. My step-son loves seeing Freddie hangout on it.
Tere lala (verified owner) –
Bought this product this month. It’s difficult for suction to stick to tank if there are hard water stains. Dock moves a lot difficult for turtle to climb up on.
momof3kids2whoownpets (verified owner) –
When my daughter’s turtles were smaller this worked out great, they climbed on it all the time. As they got bigger they would take turns or at least try to. Eventually they got too big & would end up pulling it away from the glass. You also have to clean it alot, it gets slimey also 2 of the suction cups got lost in the process. I would try to find something like a rock or try another alternative. Why waste your money on something they can outgrow. Also if your turtles are like my daughter’s they may end up ruining it (ours ruined 2 heaters & one filter by pushing it above the water line, they like to sleep under the heater). 🙁

It fit perfect in our tank! Michelangelo is loving it !

I don’t even got the larger sizes I got the Mini one and it holds my 2 in. turtle just fine, it doesn’t tip or sink, it does grow algae on the ramp but I just clean that with a toothbrush. My turtle loves to bask on it.
Curry56 (verified owner) –
So I was really excited to use this but once I set it up , it was very slanted it wouldn’t stay up properly at all. That was disappointing. The whole that the black pieces go through are much too big . Makes it difficult
profishkeeper (verified owner) –
I bought the small for a 5.5 gallon tank, with 3 fire bellied newts. I have it in the tank but i haven’t gotten the newts yet. I must say i was very confused when i opened the box. The dock itself was a sort of navy blue with purple and green streaks. And putting the suction cups on the brace took about 20 minutes. After putting in the tank, it floats (much to my surprise) and looks fine. I wish it was brown like the one in the picture, but it’s okay.

My son has had his turtle for 5 years now and we just got this turtle dock 4 months ago. His turtle loves it. He climbs on from one end, walks down the dock, dives in the other end, swims back and does it all over again.

We have owned a medium size dock for over a year. Our turle loves it. He has about a 7 inch shell now and it sinks when he sits on it although he still uses it frequently. I have just ordered the large size dock and am hoping it will hold his weight better. We have a 75 gallon tank. I love that it allows for so much swimming room. The goldfish love to sit under it. I am looking forward to getting the larger one. It does collect algae on the ramp portion. I will try the toothbrush as another reviewer suggested.

My turtles enjoy basking on this stand and I though that they may be to heavy but 2 of my red ear sliders can sit at the same time without it being to heavy! Glad I got it
YellowTurtle01 (verified owner) –
I had this dock for 5 years for my small painted turtle, and it worked great, It did crack in the end, though. It is fairly easy to clean, and my turtle was able to climb up it well. The only thing, it got too small for him, and they don’t carry one large enough for him anymore. (he is 8 inches long now) and my red and yellow eared sliders are too large for this too. Nice product though, for smaller turtles.
DKarnz (verified owner) –
Like the title says, it’s great for when your turtles are babies, but as the turtles grow the suction cups can not take the weight.
