I usually weight the bags when i get home. 90% of the time this 34 lbs bag is actually only weighting between 32.57 to 33.63 lbs. So the lbs are off. And the other 10% is the bags were lower that above mentioned. Once weighting at 29.87 lbs (4.13 lbs missing), another time weighting at 28.12 lbs (5.88 lbs missing). When mentioned at the store i was told i should bring it back and they would re-weight the bags to provide me one that should be 34 lbs. When i got there the manager refused to do so and said they are what they are marked on the bag. To bring up the problem up to Authority®

A year and a half ago, I got an 8-year old, 98 pound dog who had lots of energy and a puppy-like spirit. When I first got my boy, we walked about 5 miles on a bad day (weather permitting) and 8+ on most days. Then we got some food from the rescue and he started losing hair all over his body. I have been using Authority Brand Sensitive Stomach & Skin Salmon & Rice for over 2 years now & for 2 dogs. My first rescue dog had terrible skin issues. The Rescue suggested a salmon or whitefish based food for this reason (rather than chicken or beef). When Sylvester’s vet asked what I was feeding him I explained & he read up on it, he was pleased with the ingredients. I have 2 little dogs (weigh 10 pounds each) and we switched over from the small breed senior Authority blend to this one because one of them can have a sensitive stomach and the other one gets itchy for no reason, but they absolutely refuse to eat this food. We will even top it with baked chicken breast, carrots and sweet potatoes like we did the other food, and they still won’t eat it. If they can get to the chicken or vegetables on top, they will take that and leave all the kibble, but they don’t even really want to root around to find the rest of the topper. Going back to the small breed kibble. I don’t have any problem with the quality of the food, it’s just my dogs hate it. Unfortunately, I bought a large bag thinking they would like it just as much as the Authority food they eat.

Have been happy with Authority and now with the Sensitive Stomach and Skin version we are using but the price has skyrocketed in the last 2 years and Pet Smart is no longer offering big savings on the food packages over Christmas and Boxing Day like they used to. Really disappointed in how the price jumped from $59 to $69 for the 34 Lb bags from Dec 2021 to Dec 2022 then to $79 by February 2023. I understand costs have increased but that is gouging at the very least. I feel it’s become unaffordable to keep our dogs on this food anymore.

We had been feeding all of our dogs Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach salmon & rice formula for about 15 years; however, the price of Pro Plan has gone absolutely through the roof in recent years and it’s now $90 for a 40-lb bag, which is absolutely outrageous! Being a multidog household with 5 large dogs (4 Golden Retrievers and a Saint Bernard), that just wasn’t going to fly. I was so excited when I discovered that the Authority brand has this very similar salmon formula for $30-40 less (petsupplycanada frequently has a $10 off promotion on this food) than what we’ve been paying for Pro Plan’s salmon formula. All of our pups are doing just as well on this food as they were on the Pro Plan and were able to transition to it with no issues whatsoever. We’ve been using it for about 6 months now and they all have extremely soft, shiny, luxurious coats and zero skin or ear issues. We won’t be feeding our boys anything else!

I bought this for my shihtzu mix whom has skin issues and it has helped tremendously! It is pricey but compared to vet bills its worth it. I also have a pit terrier mix that is slightly overweight and it having back issues and had to take predisone and i was told it would make him gain weight{the predisone he weighs 93 lbs.} and we started feeding him this and in 10 days he was down to 86 lbs and still on predisone! So will be buying a bigger bag of this!!!

I switched my 9YO boxer mix to this food in an attempt to help out her skin sensitivities. She’s pretty susceptible to being itchy and excessive licking of her paws as a result. Prior to, I had her on a grain-free diet but decided to ditch that due to studies showing it can cause more harm then good. And it’s been a very positive change! I’m switching back to FreshPet after my parents said my dog needs “good food for his teeth” that’s a lie! He is rashing and itching on his under belly and hind legs near his privates. He also has a completely dyed beard stained red, from artificial dyes and synthetic chemicals in this “food” this issue completely disappeared when he was eating real food even his gum health and teeth were better!! I’m going back to making my own food also for him. I’ve done hours and hours of research on the best nutrients for my dog based on his weight. All dogs need real food just like humans do, it’s how they were genetically made to eat in the wild. I’m not saying don’t do what is best for you, but no animal should eat this factory made trash & garbage soiled rocks they call “food” I’m so over it. I can spend less money and freeze real homemade dog meals from Dr. Karen Shaw Becker’s recipe book, who is absolutely splendid on depicting the “big dog” food industry and all their ways of using the cycle of poor health from food, to vet bills. Waste of my time! Should have never listened to my parents, it’s not cheaper to have a sick animal full of future possibly ear infections, kidney issues, urinary tract problems, and pancreatic failure! Absolutely not! I will be going back to my ways of being a health nut for myself and for my animals!! After throwing this bag of rock farts in the trash, I gave him sardines in water, with canned food I trust for now, he loved it! So goodbye to the kibble forever. IM DONE.

I switched my Samoyed over to Salmon based food last fall due to a possible poultry allergy. At the time this was reasonably price at $55 CAD for 33 pound bag. It was very diffcult to find in stock however. I would typically buy two or three large bags at a time if I could find them. I noticed some bags were better quality than others and some made my dog sick. Now it is $70 for the same size bag… I will consider switching to a higher quality brand for the same price. $70 for store name dog food is quite overpriced.
