Very brown and soft. Rabbit is eating it but not typical quality of what we’re used to for this brand and type of hay.

I bought this product and was so happy that my daughter (who feeds the bunnies) wasn’t allergic but it contains more tiny residue pieces than strands of hay.

He loves his Timothy hay, better than the oxborrow. the quality is good sometimes I’ll get a bag that’s dusty by the end of it. But my bunny loves it he’ll spend most of his time munching.

I find the quality degrading in KAYTEE timothy hay, it used to be soft and fresh. But in the past year until now, only 1 out of 10 bags is good, as my two bunnies are not eating them. Some bags has a lot of dried out yellow hay but at least my bunnies are stilling eaing the greens, but some bags has green hay but they are too hard for my bunnies’s liking. It doesn’t make sense as the prices keeps going up every few months and quality is degrading at the same time. I might need to look at a different brand as I’m getting disappointed. Or is it because petsupplycanada always shipped out the bad bags to online customer? Would getting them from store is the only way of getting good and fresh hay?

My piggies really like this hay. The only one they were not crazy about is the one with rose, but all the other ones they love

This is the only brand my piggy will ear, granted it has to be the PERFECT green shade or he will LITERALLY go on a hunger strike. Now that my pigs 6 years old I’ve realized something and have questions for the brand. I live in wisconsin, where obviously 6 months out of the year it’s cold, snowy etc. During these wi ter months when I feed my pig, my hand breaks put in SUPER ITCHY tiny dots (allergic reaction) but summer months this does not happen at all. Leading me to believe that somethings added to this hay for transport, longevity and freshness during the cold months as it’s harder to source on east coast/so Midwest.

Kaytee 96oz. Timothy Hay is the freshest high quality hay for guinea pigs. It’s loose enough in the bag for easy handling. Always green and never brown.

      Edie81 (verified owner)

Half of it looked burned, my gujneapigs refused to eat it. A lot of dust too so everyone was sneezing (including my piggies).

    24. Rated 1 out of 5

I didn’t like finding out that it only lasted one week as opposed to other brands like oxbow that last 5 weeks. Mostly dust at the bottom and very dry pieces overall disatisfying and our guinea pigs didn’t like it. Good price however bad quality.

we bought a 96oz bag a few weeks ago and the hay was in pieces which my rabbits don’t like. we have compared and can say the other brands’ hay is long, intact, and lighter/fresher in appearance than this hay. also the rabbits did not eat it as much as the other brands.

I have no idea what the other reviewers are getting, but the one I got was awful. Yellow, brown, and dried out. My rabbits won’t touch it. This is so ridiculous. I went through the whole bag by hand and it’s completely unusable. What is going on? Oxbow has tanked in quality as well. I can’t find any edible hay for my rabbits.

    34. Rated 5 out of 5

One of the better brands of hay. The guinea pigs love it. And it’s softer than some.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On a whole I have found this is the only brand that has more soft Timothy in it that’s edible compared to other brands that have a large number of stem’s! Our guinea pigs love this one a lot more!

This is my backup brand for when I can’t get my usual hay from Pet Smart. Will most likely be giving my business to another company when buying hay after find a DEAD MOUSE in the bag of hay. Sadly, I only found it after putting a handful of hay into my piggie’s cage and they ate some. I am hoping to god that the bag wasn’t contaminated with some horrible disease.

This hay is absolutely HORRIBLE and caused breathing issues with one of my guinea pigs. She was wheezing and making a panting sound (while resting) that was so bad I thought she wasn’t going to survive. Thankfully she pulled through! I will ALWAYS check their hay in a different area from now on!

My hay was not fresh. It was old and discolored. My rabbit didn’t want to eat it. I used most of it to line the rabbit’s cage. I’m really getting disappointed with Timothy Hay. This isn’t the first time I’ve gotten old and discolored hay. One more bag of old discolored hay and I’m done.

I just received my hay. The quality of the Hays are terrible. There’s no freshness, the hay looked very old and my guinea pigs didn’t even want to eat them. I am looking to return all three I bough.

I don’t know what is going on with this hay. It used to be good quality but now it’s fried and soft and dusty. It was like the whole bag was like what I would see at the bottom of the bag. More like dried grass than hay. My Guinea pig wouldn’t touch it and he loves to eat. That’s how I knew I had to return it and find a different bag. Hope it gets fixed.

Bout this a few weeks ago and I was excited because as soon as I opened it, I saw a bunch of seed pods, which my guinea pigs love. Problem though, it was about 10% seed pods and 90% stalks. Stalks that the pigs don’t eat. In the end this was a fairly not very useful product.

I’ve been buying this hay for almost a year now. It’s the only one my bunnies love.
Only downside is that sometimes it comes with a lot of burnt, brown hay. It’s only happened 3 times in a year so I guess it’s not so bad.

When the hay is good. It’s good. But it can be inconsistent and you’re playing with luck to get a good bag. Sometimes the hay is all frayed and soft with nothing really to eat for my Chinchilla. He’s been on it for years so I don’t wanna switch it up now and potentially cause dietary concerns in his old age. But yeah. It’s good when it’s good. But far too often there’s a chance of a bag that’s not great.

Both my 2.5 yr old Buns likes Kaytee Timothy Hay as it’s softer I believe.
The brand Oxbow is kind of in between Kaytee and Full Cheeks, it’s not as soft as Kaytee and it’s not as hard like Full Cheeks, so it depends on the batch, I have gotten a bag before that was softer like Kaytee which they liked it, but there was also a time it was stick like Full Cheeks which they hated.
They wouldn’t eat the Full Cheeks at all as it’s hard as a stick.

I prefer the Kaytee brand of hay for my guinea pigs be cause it’s cut finer and is easier to handle than the brand I used before. The pigs like it too.
