Do not believe this product’s claim that it offers “extreme odor control.” We have two guinea pigs. I change their cage’s wood shave bedding (aspen or pine) every single day for good hygeine, cleanliness, love and ordor control. This bedding claims 14 days of extreme odor control. I didn’t believe their claim about that, but I certainly thought a good 18-24 hours might be believable. Six hours would go by, and I had to change the bedding. It smelled horrible, nothing like the way it was with wood bedding. I am soooo disappointed.

I’ve only been using this product for 24 hours and am about to clean my cage out and throw the rest of the bag away. It is semi- absorbent, I’ve had to spot clean/add more bedding to a few spots so far today. There is no “odor control” though. It’s actually the worst thing I’ve ever used, only because the smell is so bad. It’s like there is an ingredient in this bedding that reacts with urine and makes the smell worse, stronger…. so bad it burns your nostrils. It is very soft. I have 2 male guinea pigs, perhaps if you have females or something smaller you’ll have better luck with this bedding than I did.

I bought this for our new hamster and haven’t tried anything else to compare but it’s been great we spot clean everyday or two and haven’t noticed a smell, also it’s compact so when taken out it puffs up I like the texture soft enough and hamster able to burrow. Gave 4 stars only because lately it’s been matting in hamsters hair a bit think would have been fine if caught it earlier to brush out. Would definitely buy again even though it’s more expensive than most.

It does keep the odor down, though I wouldn’t recommend going a full two weeks without cleaning as guinea pigs poo A LOT and get utis among other issues if it’s too unclean. Guinea pigs can also really stink so this definitely helps because we all know, most of us don’t have the time to clean daily. My guineas also purr in glee whenever I switch it to this. I know a lot of people like fleece but I actually prefer bedding cause sometimes the poop is hard to remove off the fleece and no one wants that in their washing machine

Pros: – This bedding is dust free, which is great because small animals are more prone to respiratory problems. This is very important because as pet owners we want to provide our animals with a long, healthy life. – The bedding is soft, gentle on my guinea pigs paws and provides great nesting and tunnel-making material for my guinea pig to work with. – This bedding is very light weight and pretty easy to clean up when lightly used. Cons: -If kept in cage over a long period of time the bedding does start to smell and sticks together making it harder to get soiled bedding off bottom of cage. -The bag used to hold the bedding can get torn easily if not properly stored, which could lead to a big mess. Overall, I do like this product it reasonably priced and good to have to keep my guinea pig clean, happy and healthy.

It is also very absorbent and dust free, which is an absolute must for me when buying bedding. I also really love the color of the bedding! I’ve tried Kaytee bedding in the past, and found it soft but useless for odor control. I was therefore skeptical about this. I have one Guinea Pig, but he’s a BIG boy – – and he eats lots of produce that’s largely water. So he pees a lot, and no matter what brand of paper bedding I use the ammonia smell is generally bad after 5 or 6 days. Not this time, though! 9 days so far and no discernable urine odor, so I’m cautiously impressed. My only major complaint is the cost of the product and the small maximum size of the packages. I’ve been paying $45 for a bag yielding 178 liters decompressed, but this is $25 for 65 liters. Not sure if I can do that long term. My sumo piggy is no hamster, and I go through a lot of bedding!

With my old bedding it would need changed every 4-5 days when it started smelling even though it did not appear very dirty. This bedding is a game changer and has really extended the bedding life. We have doubled the time to changing every 10 days and there’s no smell but just want to give our little ones clean bedding. Very pleased with this, will continue to use over our old bedding.

I prefer paper bedding over shavings as it’s less messy and also less dust that my bunnies would breath in. Since I change out their bedding often, a bigger bag of their bedding is better than the smaller size.

I bought the cheapest Aspen one for two months and had to change all of it every week for my gerbil sisters. The smell was so strange after the first day or too so I wanted to try a different bedding. After doing extensive reviews checking, I found this one was the only one that had good reviews for gerbils without any quality issues, so not liking dust, I bit the bullet and bought this 4x more expensive bedding (compared to the cheap aspen), to see if the money would be worth it. It was! I didn’t have to change the bedding until three weeks later! Had to use half of the biggest size pack per change, but the cost per month is around $29 instead of $44, albeit still more expensive than the $16 per month for aspen, but at least I save two weeks of full bedding change and no smell, super fluffy home for gerbils, and the expanded bedding increased the burrowing depth for them which was perfect.

The pieces are small and they get stuck to our rabbits feet and get all over the cage. It’s hard to keep our rabbits cages clean with this bedding.

My gerbils love this stuff, it gets nice and fluffy and they love digging around in it, I have no Oder issue with them at all, gerbils don’t smell much anyway….male mice, on the other hand, I would not recommend this for, it does NOT work at all, maybe a day, day and a half, but that’s bout it, then the smell just hits, big time, blow ya outta the room big time, I would recommend this for gerbils, NOT male mice, i’m not sure about any other small animal, as all I have are gerbils and male mice.

I used it for a guinea pig and it works really well at keeping odor away for a couple of weeks. It also keeps the cage dry for a long time as well. Its very soft and obsorbent.
