Our 3 year-old German Shepherd dog has food intolerances, making the selection of food almost impossible. Within a year and a half we have gone through approximately 11 brands, all causing various skin and digestive issues. While the expensive vet prescription food did help to some degree, he was still exhibiting symptoms. I wasn’t particularly hopeful when I decided to try Natural Balance, but I thought that I had nothing to lose. Our dog now eats with appetite and has absolutely no reaction! Purchased this food as my vet recommended trying a limited ingredient salmon based food due to my dog’s recurrent ear infections and interdigital cysts. I purchased a 4 pound bag and the dog loved it. I quickly ordered a 26 pound bag, knowing the 4 pounds wouldn’t last long. When the 26 pound bag came, the dog doesn’t like it at all. After a day without wanting to eat the new shipment, I started mixing in some fresh salmon, cooked into a soup and stirring it into the dry food. He still doesn’t like it at all, but does slowly eat it to keep from starving. The bags read identically the same, but the small bag would have been eaten in a couple days, if I didn’t follow the directions, because he loved it so much. The 26 pound bag, he turns away from me, when he sees me going into it to get his meal. Very sad.

We purchased this due to our 2 y/o Boxer having some allergy issues, vet suggested limited ingredient and salmon, but with grain. Well, there aren’t many foods that fit those requirements, but this one did. Unfortunately, not only did our dog NOT have any interest in eating it (it was always a battle to get him to eat this food, never a problem with any previous foods), but his stool was very loose. After 2 bags, we gave up and tried something else that is working much better.
