This Top Paw No-Pull Prong Dog Collar is intended as a training tool, and should not be used as a regular collar. Once placed on your dog’s neck, behavior corrections can be made with minimal effort. Only at PetSmart.

For proper fit, remove links as necessary. To position over the dog’s head, open the buckle. This will allow you to more easily place over the dog’s head. Use caution so not to injure your dog’s face and eyes. Do not slide the collar over your dog’s head; this could cause injury. Place the collar aroundyour dog’s neck and refasten. To distribute the correct pressure properly, prongs should gently rest on the dog’s neck in the area right behind the dog’s ear and under the jaw line. Position collar so that the D-ring is on tp. Attach to your lease.
Warning:
If hooks (links) are not maintained, a loose hook (link) may allow the collar to separate. Frequent and proper maintenance is essential. Dog size and temperament must be considered before use.
Caution:
Not for tie out. Temporary training option to be used for a short period of time with adult supervision.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a 13 year old, miniature pinscher dog, who acts like a puppy and is extremely curious when we go on walks and likes to eat leftover food that she smells on the ground. She also likes to lunge at all dogs that we pass by including ones that are about five times her size. We took her on a walk yesterday with this prong collar and her pulling definitely diminished. We haven’t passed by any dogs yet, so I’m interested to see how that will work. The one issue that I had is that the prongs are quite difficult to remove if your dogs girth is smaller than the “small”. However, it’s good the metal prongs are not flimsy and TOO easy to remove. Also I cannot figure out how to use the nylon safety collar that it came with. I looked up instructions on YouTube and nothing showed up for Top Paw which would have been helpful. The directions on the back of the cardboard packaging was not that helpful and clear.

This is the second prong collar I’ve bought, just in a different size for our new dog. They works well but the black coating does wear off quickly and then they start to look like crap. Although I like the black look better, they should just make silver ones so you don’t have to worry about the coating coming off. Or make them with a better coating.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My boxer is 60 pounds, and the Top Paw No-Pull Prong Collar in size Large is a good fit with one prong removed from each size. The prongs look and feel sturdy and are not sharp at the ends like some collars I have seen. I do wish they came with the rubber tips as an option for an even gentler correction. My favorite feature of this collar is the buckle to snap the collar on and off. Other collars I have tried go over the head, which my dog hates. I have tried no-pull harnesses to no avail, and the prong collar was my next attempt at stopping pulling during walks. He knows that he cannot pull when this collar is on, so he is not a fan of seeing the collar come out, but it does not appear to hurt him when it tightens. It stops him from pulling toward others walking their dogs when he used to pull with such force, I moved with him. I am hoping after a handful of uses, he will adjust his pulling behavior, and we can try a harness again. I needed to remove two prongs for a proper fit, which was nearly impossible to do, because they are so snug in the collar. I had to use pliers and have another person assist me. I would not want the prongs so loose, they fall apart, but a happy medium would be more convenient.

We have a 100 pound, 2 year old Rottweiller that is wickedly strong and equally as stubborn. Walking him has been a nightmare for my husband. It has been a constant struggle trying to get him to stop pulling and lunging at other dogs. Against everything I have always believed about these prong collars due to the harsh aesthetics appearing cruel, we bought this collar over the weekend and I have to tell you that I am AMAZED at how well it works. Zeke doesn’t pull, doesn’t drag my husband down the street when we walk the dogs. I am VERY PLEASED with how well it works. Zeke’s neck measured 22 inches, including the recommended 2 inch addition, so we got the 24 inch. We could probably remove a link to make it a bit more snug, but it seems to works just fine with the additional room. Considering getting one for our 130 pound female as well.

I have dealt with prong collars for years, my favorite being Herm Sprenger. I do try out other brands to see if there is another brand I would trust and I would like to have a black one that is cheaper than HS so I bought the black version. This is the worst quality collar I have come across. The ‘black’ is paint; it’s not black stainless steel like HS that doesn’t chip if you look at it wrong. Need to adjust the size? Good luck getting the links apart let alone back together! I would not recommend this product at all as a dog owner, let alone as a dog trainer.

We use our prong collar on our GSD on walks and runs only and only pull enough to provide a “nip” if he is not following directions. The nip is intended to simulate being in a pack, where the owner/operator of the leash is displaying dominance. We had tried everything to leash train him and this is the only thing that worked.

I have 120 lb Rottweiler puppy who is still growing. Recently training went back a few steps so we stepped back up to a prong collar. Now that he is larger I needed to upgrade the size and purchased this one since we don’t use it often, just for a tune up. I’m typically really great about checking prong colors for sharp edges but I guess this one slipped through the cracks since I own so many (I’m a dog trainer). I purchased the one in black to differentiate between my client use colors and the one for my personal puppy. The ones in rainbow have all rounded edges and have been fine this far. I always recommend my clients check prong colors to make sure the edges aren’t sharp so this is definitely a faux paw on my end but it’s extremely unethical to have a tool like this that could hurt or injure an animal.

This product replaced one I had for several years but recently broke. I had been looking for something like this for some time and had been unable to locate. The weight is perfect for my 52 lb boxer/pittie mix. The color is fun and draws comments from people. I am so pleased with this collar I only wish I had known about it 6 months ago. I have a two year old pit bull she is a rescue and she’s not full blooded but boy she is so stout and fast and has repeatedly yanked me several occasions on our walks and once even jerked so hard I fell trying to hold her back. Usually people recommend the HermSpringer prong collar because it has smooth prongs and it’s “the best quality” available. I got two of these top paw prong collars instead and I love them! They are much easier to put on and take off than the classic Herm Springer and I love that they come in black to blend in with my dog’s coat. The prongs on the Top Paw prongs are beveled and are not sharp at all! Poorly made prongs have sharp spurs these ones don’t! I have done extensive research of proper (and safe) prong use and I trust my Top Paw prong collars! The buckle for quick removal I see as a wonderful safety feature allowing me to quickly remove the collar in an emergency.

It has a clasp for easy removal which is a good idea in essence, but for reactive dogs, it seems like it could easily be broken and come apart. The links are strong and not the easiest to remove should you have to adjust the size. but once I got it fit properly for my dog, it did what I expected it to, my dog listened to me while i gave instructions. Overall, it’s a decent prong collar, but the clasp really threw me. I don’t even have a regular clasp on his normal everyday collar because of his strength and my fear that he would break it.

I have purchased this collar to help with my dog’s pulling while taking walks. After an adjustment to the diameter of the collar by taking out a link, it seems to work effectively. Taking out the link was not really difficult as I had read from other reviews that it was. The collar also doesn’t harm my dog, just gets his attention and gets him back on track.

She he first time we tried it around out back yard so she could get the feel for it. I was worried it wasn’t ethical and it’s hurt her but she did really well. This has been helping with the pulling on the leash and hopefully we won’t need it soon.

I bought this because my nine month old 70 pound Labrador pulls me around, a no pull harness does not work for her, I felt bad at first using this because I thought it probably hurts but when I put it on and walked around the store to try it out, she instantly walked right next to me like the perfect dog, it was amazing my arm was not pulled out of its socket so I bought it and I have taken her on walks in the neighborhood and she tries to pull and instantly stops. It’s the best thing ever and I will use it for training until she just walks nice and then I will go back to a regular harness ! I wish I would’ve bought it months ago!!

I was skeptical about using a pronged collar as it seemed harsh. I rescued a 70 lb very strong pittie that continually pulled me when walking. This collar worked immediately to stop that. I did add the rubber prong covers and he only wears it during his walk.

My panda is a runner and this no pull prong collar is helping me so much. The downfall is that it was extremely hard for me to adjust it to her size but somehow my husband finally managed to make it work while I was gone and I’m still not sure how he did it. If u can get it to fit, it’s a wonderful temporary training tool. I would use it again on hard to leash train dogs.

Bought this last month and the black immediately started chipping and fading. Like as soon as we started using it the color started to go, and after just a month of using it, it is already noticeably discolored all over. That’s one thing. I kinda expected it eventually to fade. But definitely not so soon

You can also remove any of the prongs to adjust the size. You need to be careful using these collars so you don’t hurt the dog.

Once placed on your dog’s neck, behavior corrections can be made with minimal effort. My brother gave his 16 month old brindle cane corso to my mother and she needs to train it. Our trainer recommended this prong collar for our Cur mix. She certainly pays attention while walking. However, the prongs are difficult to get off for proper sizing. Be patient.

i got this prong collar because the clip acts as a trachea guard. i was trying to adjust it and the only way i could bend the prongs back together was stepping on them, the prongs are way to stiff for any adjustment to be made i even tried to change the links on the chain instead but they are also to stiff to be pulled apart without tremendous effort, the paint chipps off easily when scraped wint almost anything. i believe it could still be a good prong but you would have to size in store and make shure it fits perfectly cause theres no way you will be able to adjust it afterward

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was hesitant to use this collar because I felt it would hurt my dog, however my dog trainer introduced this collar to us and showed us that it can be a great and safe tool to use on my dog to learn not to pull (will only hurt when they pull). Our walks are much better and I don’t have to worry as much when on our walks, but training is essential as well, teach your dog good habits to not chase anything and stay by your side. The prongs are thick and makes it difficult to take them off to adjust to dogs neck length (minus one star).
