I have 2 of these, one for each of my snakes. It works great, make sure that you wipe the surface of the glass with alcohol before you install it so that it will stick good. I have mine plugged into thermostats and set to 90 degrees and they stay at that temperature perfectly fine.

I bought one heater of the 10 to 20 gallon size to heat my 10 gallon hermit crab tank. Installed it on the end plugged it in and the highest I could get it to go was 68*F. Covered the top of the tank with carboard and a towel and bought a second heater of the same size and installed it on the back of my tank. I got it up to 75*F.

we always had these Zoo Med heat mats for our snakes throughout the years without any issues. Only needed to replace one since we changed tanks and once you stick them on, you can’t remove it.

This is so great for my hermit crabs. I have it own a timer for every two hrs and it works amazing. My one hermit crab likes to sleep next to it because I have it stuck to the side of the tank. Awesome product!!

This UTH (under tank heater) would probably be a good product if it was bigger and actually fit the aquarium. I have a 20 gallon long, and i got a heating pad that was fit for the 20 gallon long.. long story short, it was too small. The warm side of your reptiles cage should be 1/3 of the aquarium (for leopard geckos anyway) and it only covers about 1/5 of it.
I had to take it back.

I got mine a few years ago for my leopard gecko in a ten gallon tank and she loves it. The heat pad wont make your cage temperature go up but it does keep my gecko warm and thats all that maters thats what its really made for. But it has tore up twice but i fixed it by taking it apart it will last you about a year or two before it will start to mess up. Really I would hunt for a better brand of heat pad.

Bought this heater for my leopard gecko tank. For the first day it stuck well, but after one day, it began to peel away from the tank bottom (the tank, which I also got at petsupplycanada, is slightly elevated to make room for a heater. Maybe it’s because it needs to sit absolutely sandwiched between the tank bottom and a flat surface, but in that case, it shouldn’t even have an adhesive. Tried supporting it on the edges with everything from electrical to duct tape – it eventually just melts the adhesive and falls right back down. My poor gecko is trying to just find a spot where the heater is hanging on while I search for another brand. Total absolute waste of money.

I’ve never had a problem with ZooMed UTH’s. They can get quite hot (120F), as most Under Tank Heaters do, and I would recommend a rheostat for any heating device. A little more expensive than they should be, I’d think.

Now my pad has only been used a few days BUT – it stuck on the bottom of the tank really well, and got very hot. Like 112f, which was heating my coconut substrate to about 90f, which was too hot. Got a zoomed thermostat (petsupplycanada doesn’t sell these..) to keep the temp I wanted. Perfect! I want to add that this product isn’t meant to raise the air temp in your tank, only the ‘floor’ temp – so if you think air temp is too low you may want to add a ceramic heat bulb, which I’ve also done.

This is good product and I highly recommend it. It’s more expensive than other models but the quality and size justify the increase cost.

I bought this in June and it’s now the start of November. I have it hooked to a thermostat and it no longer heats up. Not sure if I can even exchange it for a new one because i no longer have the receipt. I strongly suggest you hang on to your receipt if you buy one. At least you’ll be able to exchange it if you’re in my situation.

So i have a leopard gecko and during the winter i use a heat bulb and a day bulb during the day, but just a heat bulb at night. I was only getting 76 degrees over night one night so i needed something to bring it up to 83 or so. I bought this because of the reviews and it works just fine. Last night it was in the 80s and today with my bulbs and the heater it is in the 90s which is perfect for a gecko. so, if you are using this as a primary heat source and you want temperature in the 80-90s i would not recomend it, but i would for those in the 70s. It basicly raises the temp 5-10 degrees.

This heat pad works best when doubled up with a heat lamp, but have found that it creates a really nice heat gradient. Near the pad it will raise the heat about 4 degrees over room temperature and the other side of the tank will be around room temperature. Although it depends on your substrate, In my opinion using the pad on the side of the tank rather then underneath it works best. The product is easy to use, the only problem with it is that once you apply it to your tank you can’t take it off with out ruining it.

I bought a sixteen watt uth for my 40 gallon terrarium, and it works well for my two leopard geckos. The uth works well. The only negative aspect about the uth is that you need a light dimmer, or a thermostate. The hot spot can get over 90 degrees Fahrenheit (mine was maxing out around 98) which is too hot for most reptiles, and the light dimmer can be used to lower the temperature of the hot spot to a more ideal temperature. Overall it’s a great uth.

I’ve had this same under tank heater for 11 years, and IT IS STILL GOING. I’m rating it 4 stars because the downside is that it doesn’t have a thermostat (not to be confused with a thermometer) to adjust the temperature. I’ve figured out a way to work with it by layering substrate on the floor of the tank to make sure it doesn’t burn my leopard gecko. This UTH doesn’t get scolding hot or anything, but I wanted a barrier to ensure her safety. It’s easy to work with, but just keep in mind that the adhesive bottom will gradually decline over time. It doesn’t stick to the bottom of the tank like it once did – but again, this baby has lasted YEARS!
Would recommend as long as you take the appropriate safety precautions for your pet.

Got the 10-20 gallon recommended UTH for my 20 gallon tank with 3 young hermit crabs, filled halfway with sand. The UTH struggled to keep the tank at 73 degrees (far below the crabs’ requirements) and the poor guys had no choice but to stay huddled under it all day, venturing out for a quick bite at night. One of them never left the corner. I replaced it with a new mat the full length of the tank and, 4 hours later, the little crab sprang to life.

Waited to review and I’m so glad it works well.
Temperature is balanced and really love how the cord is built for wear and tear.
Only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 was I have found this product much cheaper elsewhere after I purchased.

First off, this is not a product for herps that require a great amount of heat. This heat mat is great for pets that need a temperature of about 70F to 80F, although it won’t keep the temperature at the desired point on chilly days/nights. However, I do like this product for what my pet needs. It’s perfect on normal to warm weather days, because it keeps my pet’s tank at the perfect daytime temperature, but I do have to use a second heat source for very cold nights. Overall, this product is good.

The reptile heat pad is good and I would say it is good for reptiles, but I would tell everyone that if you get it for your reptile to make sure your reptile does not stay on it long.

Before using this product i was using a heating bulb to warm my leopard geckos tank. Although the heating bulb gets the tank hot they wont eat because they need stomach heat to help diguest their food. Now my leo lays out and warms on top of where the mat is placed and will eat. Do not use a bulb! good luck.

I have purchased several of these products in different size variations. All of them end up falling off within 2-3 months even when I have taken great care to attach it to the terrarium. Extremely disappointed that there aren’t other options out there. The worst thing about this product is the price. Considering how bad it sticks, it should cost maybe 10$..

I use this on my 20 gallon leopard gecko terrarium. It works great and keeps her nice and warm when she’s in her warm hide. My only complaint is that it is a bit too expensive. I got mine for $19.99 which is alright, but i had to buy two different mats which added up to about $35 (the other one was a different brand and size).

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
I bought one of these for my Hermit Crabs. They are in a 10 gallon tank, so I bought the “small” which was designed for 10-20 gallon tanks. As the Hermit Crabs are “tropical” animals, I followed the directions and side mounted it (because water is involved in their substrate). Works great and heats the tank, but no where near enough heat to keep them warm. Maybe 2 degrees tops and this is listed as working on tanks up to 20 gallons.
I recently purchased Leopard Geckos. Originally meant to get 1, but ended up with 2, so instead of the 10 gallon tank I had planned on, I got a 20 gallon. Again I bought the 10-20 gallon sized small. Well, it lived up to its name and it heats a “small” section of the tank when under mounted. I notice a temperature increase of about 5 degrees directly over the heat pad, but it does nothing to warm the rest of the tank.
I’m not saying the pads don’t work, I just think they are a bit under rated with their expectations. Depending on what you are expecting to use these with, you may want to consider another size.
That said, using 4 watts of power for the pad, is better than 50 watts for a heat bulb and even if it only last me 2 years, I will be ahead of the game cost wise with all the bulbs I would have gone through and electricity savings.

This product is amazing! It’s just a little pricey. The heat that it emits is perfect for reptiles and is not to hot for furniture. But all in all great buy and it last even if it loses its stickiness you can hot glue it or tape it. Surprisingly it won’t melt. Must buy for reptile keepers.

Bought this last week. I first had it on the side cuz I was afraid of it getting too hot (haven’t gotten a thermostat yet). It barely emitted any kind of heat, so I moved it underneath and it got scalding hot! The tank was lifted and there was plenty of airflow. I moved it back to the side and it just stopped working…

I’ve bought so many of these heat mats along with temperature controllers and they will not go above room temp. It’s so frustrating spending so much money for them to never work. I can’t get the temp in my tank over 73 degrees. I genuinely don’t understand the positive reviews. Don’t waste your money. Get an overhead lamp for your geckos. This does not work.

I looked at these and some made by other brands, these seemed to be better made. At first we had one, mounted on the side of the terrarium, but the overnight temp dropped to 70°, so I added another along the back. That brought the temp up to an acceptable 75°. We only use these at night with a basking lamp during the day for our juvy leopard gecko. Sometimes during the night our leo will be laying along either the one on the side or the one on the back. It’s only been a couple of weeks, all I can say is so far so good. Our gecko is happy and so are we!

Struggles to heat my tank for my leo. Maybe I need a bigger one but this already takes up 1/3 of the bottom of my tank. I have it hooked up to a thermostat and I’ve let it run and run and I could touch it with my bare hands and it’s still only lukewarm. Pretty disappointed with this purchase. Can’t even heat a small area.

I like the product and it works well for my leopard gecko as all heat mats you do need to use a thermostat with it. I would buy more of these but I had two issues. The first issue is that I stuck the heat mat to the outside of my tank on the bottom, and the temperature was set to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the adhesive half melted! I tried later by lowering the heat but the adhesive just won’t work for me, so I just got some duck tape to stick it on and now it works great! The second issue for me at;east is that it is not flat, it is about 1/3 wide so that could be bad or could be great in different cases. It also says it comes with props to prop up the tank so the cord doesn’t get pinched but it doesn’t.

I bought this less than a week ago and it worked well during the start, with the normal temperature and everything, but then after about 1-2 days the mat started peeling off. Now it’s halfway peeled off without me even touching it.

We use these mats and they work well with some sort of temperature controller. I have experienced heating extremes from 75-98 from the same mat without a control. We use digital control used by growers for starting seeds and it works great. you can set the exact temperature you want your mat to stay at. The dial type that are purchased at the pet stores are not very accurate. We have experimented with 5 different types and now only use the same product for all 5 of our tanks with UTH.

Bought two of the 8 watt heaters for the bottom of my tank, read the instructions and followed them, put the rubber feet that they provide on the bottom of the tank, mind you I bought these in mid January, and as of the first week of April they are unusable, I noticed my gecko wasn’t acting right, after some poking around I realized that both of the mats were warped and curling and would not stick to the tank no matter how hard I tried, so I called the customer service line, because they were still pretty new and should’ve still been under warranty, after talking to the customer service, they said the only thing that they could do was recommend to silicone the heaters to the bottom of the tank! I was so frustrated because I didn’t want to spend another dollar on these worthless things, my local petsupplycanada was amazing and let me exchange them for a different product, but I won’t be buying these again in the future…

I have the 8w pad, and I use under a hide at night for my blue tongue, and she loves to curl up on it. It creates a nice ambient temperature of about 70 on the cool side of her tank at night (Should mention there’s about 7”of aspen) so this size is perfect!

I got the mini size for my baby leopard gecko in a 2.5 gallon tank, and it doesn’t get warm enough. I also have the 10-20 gallon sized one (small?) for my other leopard gecko and it works great as long as I have it plugged into a thermostat. I recommend the product as long as you use a thermostat with it.

This heater (24 watt) has been working really well for my BP and heat has been pretty consistent (Though a control IS NEEDED). The pad has lasted 4 years and has never had trouble sticking until recently. I checked after coming back from a trip that the temperature was at room-temp of his terrarium. I checked the pad and found where it had burnt through the bottom, and whatever the adhesive was also looked clumpy. The temperature never went over 95 (F) and never had the hole till recently. other than that it’s worked great for me.

And that was with the pad being under the tank with bedding on top. Sadly she passed because of the injuries even after treatment.

I have one of these in my gecko tank at one end. It works perfect for giving them the heat they need. The only part I didn’t like was that it didn’t have a temperature control. When just plugged in it was too hot for my needs (I use a cage liner instead of a thick substrate). My solution was to buy a dimmer used to plug lamps into. I just plug this into the dimmer which plugs into the wall. The dimmer allows me to lower the temperature to a perfect comfort level. The other nice thing is that I don’t have to make sure I have replacement heat lamps. I do use a lower wattage heat lamp occasionally but if it burns out I don’t need to panic as I have this as the main heat source. I have had this running for 3 years now without any issues. An excellent product that I would highly recommend.

I have the 40 Gallon UTH that I bought when I got my Ball Python. It is the dead of winter and I am scared to death for her now. It did it’s job excellently while it worked, and for no reason it has broken. My snake needs that hot side UTH to live. It’s past warranty, it’s snowing and in the upper 20’s outside. I give it an excellent review because it worked beautifully, but I am terrified of how long they last. I already cannot afford much, and I need, SHE needs this to live! Please people: make CERTAIN you buy other/backup sources of heat for your pets! Baby Cleo is stuck with only 75F last time I checked on her HOT side! She needs 85F-90F+ on her hot side! The cold side is the only space supposed to be that low!

its a great heating pad, works well, and warms the area that i need, Only downfall, wish it had an off and on switch, now you have to unplug it.

I bought the mini 4×5 in. UTH to see if it was better than a heat lamp and a basking combo pack. I have a juvy leopard gecko from petsupplycanada and a 10 gallon also from petsupplycanada. I stuck it on the warm side under his favorite hide, and it barely heated the floor. I might try the 6×8 in. one to see if it is any better.

This “Heat pad” is absolutely useless and a complete waste of money. On the package it says to wait at least 6 hours but it does not matter wait as long as you like it will not do anything. At the absolute most it might raise your tanks temp by 1 degree.

I have 2 of these (small size) on my 20 gallon aquarium that my 3 hermit crabs live in. One of the pads is under the sand and one of them is on the side. They keep the crabitat nice and warm, and if it gets too hot I can just unplug one/both. The crabs love to hang out next to the pad on the side in cold weather :). They do dry out the sand a bit but you can simply replace the water once a week. Another plus is that they keep the crabs warm while they’re molting, something a heat lamp just wouldn’t do.
The only problem I have with this is that it eventually starts coming off the glass in places. But I can fix that with a little extra strong tape. That’s a teeny con compared to all those great pros!
    All in all, great buy!

I had fpund and rescued a snake, that had appeared to be hit with a shovel, so i took her in, and this was one of the many things i had bought for her. It heats up fast, and doesnt “overheat” like others i have had in the past (used to have snakes) and she likes it.

I was in the process of purchasing a set of day and evening lights for my lizard after reading the o store care pamphlet. The team member let me know that the new lamp and bulbs weren’t necessary or beneficial to the lizard (they just look cool) and recommend the heading pad instead. I attached it to the side since my tank is low and the lizard immediately gravitated to it and warmly basks WITHOUT a bright light for me through the night. Hopefully this last longer than the bulbs (fingers crossed)

I installed this heat mat, which is rated for a 30-40 gallon tank, on my tiny 10 gallon tank, and set it up with the Zoomed Repitemp Digital Thermostat. After 24 hours, it was barely holding the tank temperature 1 and 2 degrees above ambient temperature. Absolute piece of trash, and a total waste of money!

I got a couple for my 10 gal tanks and I recommend the medium size for the 10 gal tanks. Works good the only thing is the tape once you use it and remove it most of the time it will not stick again so you will need some ductape. Overall it is a great product really a must have and does a great job heating up the tank and providing that belly heat.

Heats up the substrate but doesn’t do well heating up the overall tank. I’m using a 36 gallon bowfront. Substrate can get up to 100 degrees while the tank temp is around 78. I highly recommend using a thermostat with this.

We use heat tape for my ball’s primary heat source. It is safer and easier to control the temp. During the colder months, however, we use this zoomed heater as a supplemental heat source. Always connected to a thermostat.

This is a good heat pad overall, but I had many problems with getting it to stick to the bottom of my hermit crab tank. It ended up taking LOADS of ductape and lots of time just to keep this pad from falling off the bottom every day. But if you can make it through this little obstacle, the product is overall great and keeps the tank pretty warm.

We have used the heat pad for our ball python for a year and will purchase a bigger one as we size up the tank. You NEED to purchase a thermostat as well (we got the Zoo Med) or it will get too hot and can harm your snake. Also get a digital thermostat gun to monitor the temperature of the substrate on top of the pad. Place the heat source under a hide and your snake will be healthy and content.

It’s working overtime,I got this without checking as to how very hot this gets for a ball python temp’s on the warm side should be around 90 this recorded a reading at 101 f so I strongly recommend getting a thermostat to keep it at a desired temperature

I got my leopard gecko 3 years ago and I just recently had to replace the first heater I got which was this product and I ended up repurchasing it because there’s not a lot of options. Heater lost it’s stickiness about 1 1/2 years in and finally ended up cracking and almost caught my desk on fire!
