First off this litter has a distinctly cheesy smell, it’s not overpowering, but also not a great smell. My rabbit doesn’t seem to like it as much as the carefresh as he uses his litter box much less now, opting for the floor instead. It does its job and prevents urine odour but at the rate my rabbit pees, I have to replace the litter almost daily anyway, so odour wouldn’t be a problem anyway. It’s also a lighter texture and as a result, it gets stuck on my rabbit’s feet. I often find the litter all over the house.

Honestly I was hoping to make the litter last longer because I change it daily. I’m not totally sure it helps with odor. I don’t like that it clumps and get saturated with pee. The pellets break down and don’t stay wet like this litter does. I’m glad I mix it because I would be concerned with pee stains. Overall it is ok – I wouldn’t use it without the pellets.

The texture is quite hard, unlike my normal brand, but it is absorbent enough and does an adequate job. It is definitely low dust, which is important, and I like that it is made from recycled paper. It says that it controls odors for up to 10 days, but there is no way I could leave my bunny’s litterbox unchanged for that long. It needs to be scooped or changed every two or three days, even with this bedding.

Cat has VERY sensitive paws. All stores in our area and online ran out of her “normal” paper litter. I saw an entire aisle of this paper bedding and thought “Why NOT?” Kitty took to this being litter right away. I would recommend normal scoop cleaning the box daily if used for this purpose. I do scoop clean her box at least twice a day anyway, so no problem. I clean the box and change the litter every 2-3 weeks.
