People are writing bad reviews because their not doing their research. For this platform to work with a 40 gallon tank it’s needs to be a breeder tank. It will fit perfectly on a 40 gallon breeder tank. There’s a difference. The dimensions are different on a regular 40 gallon tank compared to 40 gallon breeder tanks. petsupplycanada is running a sale on these tanks right now. 65 dollars instead of 129. The product is well put together. Plenty big enough for a red ear slider Turtle. Idk about a full grown Tortise. The slide isn’t flimsy and plenty of room to bask. Do not be a afraid to buy this. Look at the dimensions on the photo to the basking area. Then check out the dimensions on a 40 gallon breeder tank compared to a regular 40 gallon tank. This baskimg area fits perfectly .

I was absolutely thrilled to get this basking loft as ive tried so many others, and all seem to miss my expectations. This one was no different. Great concept but terrible execution. The ramp is not able to support a full grown turtle which is what i have. Says fits on most 40 gallon tanks but that also wasnt the case. I was definitely hoping it was going to work out. Guess back to my DIY tank topper and basking loft

I question the durability though because the cage door on top was a bit wanky and I have to finesse it to close. Also I know once my turtle becomes bigger he will not be able to use this platform because the ramps and cut out is pretty small. Cleaning is fairly easy. It holds heat which is great!

Just got this for my red ear slider. I dont love the mesh flooring, i feel like my turtles nails might get caught in it. The screws that are used to keep the bottom from falling are difficult to hand screw in. Mine kept getting stuck and 2 broke off. The other problem i have is that the ramp is steep with little for the turtle to grip on. Im going to have to add silicone or something to it so he can climb it easier. He can climb it about 50% of the time, the rest he gets halfway and slides back down.

Putting it together is a breeze. It fits a 40 gallon tank with ease. You’re still able to use a lamp with it as well.

She absolutely loved swimming around with more room than ever since her basking area is in her tank, not above. We were really sad when the ramp didn’t work. We are planning on reinforcing the ramp somehow so she can use it. That is the only thing making this a not great review.

My small but mighty musk turtle pretty much destroys the floating platforms and anything that suction cups to the side of the tank. He trudges up the little ramp and soaks in those rays! It was easy to put together and install and doesn’t get too hot. I do have some greenery down just in case. Well worth the price!

It’s a great enclosure, except for horrible oversight. The mesh floor caused my RES to get her nails caught and she was in terrible pain. I’m not sure how long she was like that before I found her.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This elevated turtle basking loft was really easy to assemble you just took it out of the box and sat it on top of your 30 gallon fish tank it’s made out of a really sturdy wood that’s really durable with a see threw mash that made it easy to see your pet turtle when it was in the basking loft the functionality of its ramp is very easy to figure out it just sits on top of a rock the only thing you have to buy is a lamp because it don’t come with it I really like it and would buy it again

I like this dock because it allows for all the tank to be filled up to maximize space. My juvenile map turtle slides up and down it easily. The only downside is that I now have to switch to a canister filter instead of an overhang one so that I can put the top on all the way. Other than tha t, it’s a great product!

The ramp is too short and slippery, mu turtle can’t go to the top to bask. The ramp needs to be less steep and have some kind of grip to it!. Also the bottom part needs a mat or something, my turtle nails get stuck in the holes ans can’t move!

And it’s strange it’s maybe 1 cm to large and it slides just a little. I love the concept of this but the ramp is sooooo small which is a bummer. It’s not long and not too sturdy.

I love that I can attach some toys and other items. We did add some reptile safe faux grass pads to protect his little toes from the grates. With that modification, it is amazing and we are very happy!

The ramp does seem a tad flimsy and I’m not sure how well it’ll do and he gets bigger & heavier, but for now, it’s perfect! it’s easy for him to get up onto, and it keeps the lights at a perfect distance. It’s fairly easy to put together, and it fit on my aquarium nicely. I plan on figuring out a way to reinforce the ramp a bit so he can use it for longer!

Neat design but would be helpful if it included some fake grass or something that makes it easier to climb with. There are spots to put your filters in also which is helpful. This fits a 40 gallon breeder, most common size used for small turtles and aquatic reptiles.. not a regular 40 gallon fish tank, they’re wider and not as deep.. but this is hard to make work with an external filter unless you just don’t use the part that covers where the basking area isnt

Great concept but poor poor execution. The ramp is not strong enough to hold a full grown turtle. Plus it’s very steep and the tabs that keep it together break off immediately with the weight of the turtle. Very very disappointed.

Ramp could be a little longer, our turtle struggles to get up o to the ramp. If you have an aquarium it fits on, this would be great! Very durable and easy to adapt with other tanks.

When I got this, I was concerned about the mesh because my turtle has long nails. Well, how I resolved that was to put self-sticking indoor and outdoor carpet down on all the areas that had mesh. But I must say, over time, the bottom rusted and fell apart.

The bottom of the basket is mesh, which catches their claws (especially males). We added a green substrate mat with micro green plants to try and entice the turtles to go up there to bask. But they haven’t yet. I think the ladder is too narrow and steep?

NOT for full grown turtles. Great concept but large turtles can’t even begin to fit on the ramp which by the way is NOT long enough to reach the water level needed. VERY steep and the two plastic hooks that snap into the basking area snap off when a large turtle trying to get on it. RAMP is very poor Design.

I got this for our turtle because he kept biting his floating basking shelf. He was not able to get up the ramp by himself. We tried to put him up in the basking area to see if we could get him used to being in the top section he scurried down each time. We even tried to attach a small floating shelf to help him get up to the top and he still refused.

When I figure out how to make this work for him in his pond, he loved it. He was able to get in and out on his own even for a big turtle. He loves getting out of the water and just soaking up the sun now. Definitely recommend. Can’t speak for in doors but the lid has two size options

My turtle struggled and struggled to get up that ramp, and never succeeded. So it takes some modification of the ramp. But other than that, it’s a pretty good design. There are no holes for heaters or filter tubes, but they are easy to cut. Just make the ramp easier to grab

The top of the basking loft opens to allow easy access to the reptiles. There is enough space in the loft for two large aquatic turtles with plenty of room left. The only complaint I have is the ramp hole could be a little bit bigger. If my aquatic turtles were any bigger they may not be able to get through the hole. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody with aquatic turtles. Our tank is a 75 gallon tank and if it’s perfectly on half of it.

I am using all the 75 gallon capacity of my tank because of this basking loft! My turtles love it! I am buying a second one. I recommend going to You Tube and watching videos of this accessory that fits 40 gallon “breeder” tank to the larger ones like mine. Make sure you measure your tank. It comes with an accessory to cover the area left on your 40 gallon tank so that your turtle cannot escape, but you will need other types of covers for larger tanks. I got a glass cover that fits perfectly but had to rally measure to the inch. This is great!

For a 40 gallon tank I don’t think that this is properly made for a larger turtle. She struggles walking up so I help her but whenever it’s time for her to walk back down, the ramp is very short and it isn’t slanted enough so she starts to walk down and immediately starts to slide straight down, and she ends up, flying down the ramp and smacking against the glass, which I think is very dangerous. After she attempted it the first time alone she’s never gone back up again so I’m gonna have to get rid of it and find another way for her to bask. I wouldn’t recommend this if your turtle isn’t like a baby but even then I don’t think a baby turtle could climb up and down this ramp.

I read reviews and was iffy about buying because I was worried it wouldn’t fit. Everyone was saying it didn’t fit their 40 gallon tank. But, it fit my 40 gallon breeder tank amazingly!!! I believe theirs a difference between the breeder tank and a regular 40 gallon. But i’m not too sure. All I know is if you have a 40 gal. breeder tank this is perfect, it slid right on top. Also, SUPER easy to assemble.

Ramp up is too steep and too slippery for turtle to climb up it, she keeps sliding down while trying to climb up. Metal flooring causes their nails to get stuck and ripped off. Tolerances are poor, it is not a square and needs to be slightly bent to fit a square tank (causing the basking area to separate and not fit correctly).

This was the largest “topper” I could find – I added astroturf in the basking area and glued cork bark onto the ramp to make an easier grip. Turtle LOVED it! Unfortunately it rusted underneath the paint and the paint flaked off within 2 months… I’m going to try to repaint it because my turtle really prefers this setup, but wish it were more durable.

He originally started off as my younger sister’s quarter sized Floridian Slider while in high school and has grown over the past 15 years into a full grown adult living in a 40 gallon Aquarium with a ‘dry tank’ he gets transferred in every night for basic care and medical needs. While I have little knowledge of turtle care, which has been left to my parents upon my sister’s move, I still have taken care of him for years based on what he needs and what equipment he has.
At night, he is removed to a ‘dry tank’, a tub with some basic needs that keeps him from being fully submerged, with a few items including his basking rock and his light changes between his day heat lamp to his red night lamp. Changing him is definitely not my favorite task as George does not like me and shows it. As a lot of accessories can be costly, not knowing if it will even work, is just too big of a risk most days. So, I took a gamble to try petsupplycanada’s Thrive Turtle Elevated Basking Loft from Influenster. At the current price it is around $88 depending on local tax, a lot if it doesn’t work or used. Being able to try it free of cost is such an amazing gift not just to me or George, but my ever aging parents who must bend or hunch down to pick him up, change tanks, change lights, and repeat twice a day.
This Basking Loft allows George to get out of the water as he desires rather than just his semi-floating small platform during the day. Once the water was filled to the needed level, George swam up to the ramp, crawled out and got comfortable in the basking loft area. He now can move about with much more freedom. This is also very handy when trying to reach him as the loft area’s top is a giant locking lid. With a different type of lamp, it now changes from day to night on a timer saving my parents from constantly stooping down. It also saves George from getting cranky each move and saves me from him attempting to bite. This loft has allowed my parents to treat his shell with greater ease on them and the turtle. It fits his 40 gallon tank perfectly, easy to install, and comes with screws to keep it in place. The basking loft also allows for much easier cleaning and with the 1/3 side that is not part of the basket lifts up easily, locks for any escape artists, and has an opening for cords or feeding, all while nearly doubling his usable space. While all of these features help with to George’s care, allowing him even more space and makes it easier for my aging parents to care for him, it is not the best part. The one thing that makes this worth getting above everything else is watching how excited, curious and happy George is with his new cage addition. I may not know much about turtle care, but I do know he is one happy Floridian Slider.

It is a good product but the only thing i find wrong with it is that my turle has a hard time climb up it. The ramp is to slick to get up. I had to drill holes in the ramp and zip tie window screen on it to give him the ability to climb it. Since i did that he seems to like it.

I have a larger aquatic turtle and most ramps aren’t wide enough for her to get up and bask on. I had such high hopes for this. The design seemed perfect, however, even with the water filled to the base of the ramp in the tank, she can’t climb up or down the ramp. If I pick her up and put her on it, she tries to slide down and basically flies down full speed and ends up upside down on her back at the bottom of the tank.

It will fit perfectly on a 40 gallon breeder tank. There’s a difference. The dimensions are different on a regular 40 gallon tank compared to 40 gallon breeder tanks. petsupplycanada is running a sale on these tanks right now. 65 dollars instead of 129. The product is well put together. Plenty big enough for a red ear slider Turtle. Idk about a full grown Tortise. The slide isn’t flimsy and plenty of room to bask. Do not be a afraid to buy this. Look at the dimensions on the photo to the basking area. Then check out the dimensions on a 40 gallon breeder tank compared to a regular 40 gallon tank. This baskimg area fits perfectly .

Just got this for my red ear slider. I dont love the mesh flooring, i feel like my turtles nails might get caught in it. The screws that are used to keep the bottom from falling are difficult to hand screw in. Mine kept getting stuck and 2 broke off. The other problem i have is that the ramp is steep with little for the turtle to grip on. Im going to have to add silicone or something to it so he can climb it easier. He can climb it about 50% of the time, the rest he gets halfway and slides back down.

I like this dock because it allows for all the tank to be filled up to maximize space. My juvenile map turtle slides up and down it easily. The only downside is that I now have to switch to a canister filter instead of an overhang one so that I can put the top on all the way. Other than tha t, it’s a great product!

The bottom of the basket is mesh, which catches their claws (especially males). We added a green substrate mat with micro green plants to try and entice the turtles to go up there to bask. But they haven’t yet. I think the ladder is too narrow and steep?

We tried to put him up in the basking area to see if we could get him used to being in the top section he scurried down each time. The top of the basking loft opens to allow easy access to the reptiles. There is enough space in the loft for two large aquatic turtles with plenty of room left. The only complaint I have is the ramp hole could be a little bit bigger. If my aquatic turtles were any bigger they may not be able to get through the hole. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody with aquatic turtles. Our tank is a 75 gallon tank and if it’s perfectly on half of it.

I am using all the 75 gallon capacity of my tank because of this basking loft! My turtles love it! I am buying a second one. I recommend going to You Tube and watching videos of this accessory that fits 40 gallon “breeder” tank to the larger ones like mine. Make sure you measure your tank. It comes with an accessory to cover the area left on your 40 gallon tank so that your turtle cannot escape, but you will need other types of covers for larger tanks. I got a glass cover that fits perfectly but had to rally measure to the inch. This is great!

For a 40 gallon tank I don’t think that this is properly made for a larger turtle. She struggles walking up so I help her but whenever it’s time for her to walk back down, the ramp is very short and it isn’t slanted enough so she starts to walk down and immediately starts to slide straight down, and she ends up, flying down the ramp and smacking against the glass, which I think is very dangerous. After she attempted it the first time alone she’s never gone back up again so I’m gonna have to get rid of it and find another way for her to bask. I wouldn’t recommend this if your turtle isn’t like a baby but even then I don’t think a baby turtle could climb up and down this ramp.

Ramp up is too steep and too slippery for turtle to climb up it, she keeps sliding down while trying to climb up. Metal flooring causes their nails to get stuck and ripped off. Tolerances are poor, it is not a square and needs to be slightly bent to fit a square tank (causing the basking area to separate and not fit correctly).

This was the largest “topper” I could find – I added astroturf in the basking area and glued cork bark onto the ramp to make an easier grip. Turtle LOVED it! Unfortunately it rusted underneath the paint and the paint flaked off within 2 months… I’m going to try to repaint it because my turtle really prefers this setup, but wish it were more durable.

He originally started off as my younger sister’s quarter sized Floridian Slider while in high school and has grown over the past 15 years into a full grown adult living in a 40 gallon Aquarium with a ‘dry tank’ he gets transferred in every night for basic care and medical needs. While I have little knowledge of turtle care, which has been left to my parents upon my sister’s move, I still have taken care of him for years based on what he needs and what equipment he has.
At night, he is removed to a ‘dry tank’, a tub with some basic needs that keeps him from being fully submerged, with a few items including his basking rock and his light changes between his day heat lamp to his red night lamp. Changing him is definitely not my favorite task as George does not like me and shows it. As a lot of accessories can be costly, not knowing if it will even work, is just too big of a risk most days. So, I took a gamble to try petsupplycanada’s Thrive Turtle Elevated Basking Loft from Influenster. At the current price it is around $88 depending on local tax, a lot if it doesn’t work or used. Being able to try it free of cost is such an amazing gift not just to me or George, but my ever aging parents who must bend or hunch down to pick him up, change tanks, change lights, and repeat twice a day.
This Basking Loft allows George to get out of the water as he desires rather than just his semi-floating small platform during the day. Once the water was filled to the needed level, George swam up to the ramp, crawled out and got comfortable in the basking loft area. He now can move about with much more freedom. This is also very handy when trying to reach him as the loft area’s top is a giant locking lid. With a different type of lamp, it now changes from day to night on a timer saving my parents from constantly stooping down. It also saves George from getting cranky each move and saves me from him attempting to bite. This loft has allowed my parents to treat his shell with greater ease on them and the turtle. It fits his 40 gallon tank perfectly, easy to install, and comes with screws to keep it in place. The basking loft also allows for much easier cleaning and with the 1/3 side that is not part of the basket lifts up easily, locks for any escape artists, and has an opening for cords or feeding, all while nearly doubling his usable space. While all of these features help with to George’s care, allowing him even more space and makes it easier for my aging parents to care for him, it is not the best part. The one thing that makes this worth getting above everything else is watching how excited, curious and happy George is with his new cage addition. I may not know much about turtle care, but I do know he is one happy Floridian Slider.

I have a larger aquatic turtle and most ramps aren’t wide enough for her to get up and bask on. I had such high hopes for this. The design seemed perfect, however, even with the water filled to the base of the ramp in the tank, she can’t climb up or down the ramp. If I pick her up and put her on it, she tries to slide down and basically flies down full speed and ends up upside down on her back at the bottom of the tank.
